The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!
Chapter 1842 - 509: The Bishop Tripped the Knight's Horse (Part 2)
Deny the holiness of the Church, deny the privileges of the clergy, and even compare the supreme Church Court to shepherds enslaving believers!
In the "Holy Word Book," the meaning of shepherd is clearly guidance!
The theologians present, who were accustomed to a life of ease, felt unprecedented offense and fear from the depths of their souls.
"Ridiculous! This is utterly ridiculous!"
An elderly theologian suddenly stood up, his fingers trembling as he pointed at the book in Elaric's hand, his beard quivering with anger.
"If we follow the madness in here, what does the thousand-year order of the Holy Sis Church Court count for?"
"If a thief also claims he heard the voice of God to steal, a robber plunders in the name of God, and a butcher kills in the name of God, is our Holy Light still the Holy Light? This turns sacred faith into a weapon in the hands of thugs!"
This statement was not exactly flawed; after all, the Judicial Court was not the one that burned the most witches, nor was it the one that killed the most peasants.
After all, those killed by the Judicial Court had names, in other words, they could be counted.
But when it came to the Green Forest Army, the killing was indeed countless. Whether to kill or not, and who to kill and who not to kill, all relied on the freedom of personal judgment and whim.
Facing this thunderous accusation, Elaric remained calm because the spit wasn't landing on him.
He suddenly closed the demon book in his hand, producing a dull sound, then wore an expression more pained than that of a priest, and sternly said.
"You are absolutely right, sir! That's exactly what I mean!"
He furrowed his brows and clenched his fists.
"This is such blasphemy! When I first read these words, the nausea I felt was more intense than the stench of rotting corpses. This is not just rebellion, it shakes the very foundation of our existence!"
The theologians who had prepared a stomachful of scriptures to refute the Governor were stunned by this, their flames of anger having no target to vent on, and after a long time, they could only muster a "well said!"
Among these unevolved savages... there are a few who understand, huh!
However, these theologians from the Holy City did not know that the blasphemous manuscript before them was written by a clever person.
How could a peasant girl from the fields have the ability to write a book?
If she hadn't been forced into prostitution by a group waving the banner of the Holy Light, escaping to her doom with the last vestiges of faith in purity and Holy Light, she would not have encountered the "Divine Son" on that snow-covered night, and would not have inexplicably become the "Holy Daughter."
In essence, she was the same kind of person as a certain groom.
However, Elaric was different; he was a bona fide noble, and writing such correct but useless nonsense was as easy to him as breathing.
As long as he grasped the core idea of "everyone as a priest," he could elaborate on the blasphemy freely.
The previously silent Referee Chief Ximenes finally took action.
He slowly raised his head, his previously impassive face now as grim as iron, and those eagle-sharp eyes flickered with an unfathomable cold gleam.
This was no longer just a few peasants causing trouble, but a toxin spreading like a plague, eroding the legitimacy of the Church Court's existence.
He couldn't help but suspect that the Hell Power was behind this.
After all, Chaos produces more lunatics, and even the conspiracy-loving Deceitful Fog rarely weaves such a meticulous plot.
Elaric keenly captured the murderous intent in Ximenes' eyes.
He knew the time was ripe.
He stepped forward two steps and gently placed the filthy "New Testament" on the pristine walnut wood table in front of Ximenes.
"Referee Chief Sir."
Elaric's voice lowered, carrying a sincere tone of heartfelt honesty, "Our enemies are so shameless, and that's why the heavy cavalry of the Lion Heart Knight Order is struggling in the mud without ever catching those rebels."
Ximenes raised his eyelids, coldly eyeing this governor known for his pragmatism: "What are you trying to say, Baron Elaric?"
"I am saying that our knights are still too merciful! The corruption of the 'New Testament' is like a plague, and it's not our bodies that it erodes, but our souls! Swords can't heal the wounds of the soul; only more thorough measures can eradicate them!"
Elaric's index finger pressed on the manuscript, looking at the Referee Chief with the same sincerity. Yet, beyond the inner piety, there was also a subtle chill.
"Referee Chief Sir, this is where the problem lies. I do not wish to criticize my Monarch, but his knights have indeed been too incompetent in this matter... they have not even realized the severity of the problem."
These words struck at the heart of Ximenes.
His thoughts were actually more radical than Elaric's—the incompetence lay not only with the knights but also with the King behind them.
It was King Theoden Devalu who was too incompetent.
Of course, standing from King Theo's own perspective, using the power of the Judicial Court to eliminate dissent was not unreasonable.
He just probably forgot his identity.
The Divine granted him the crown, and it was not just a reward to the Devalu family, but also carried a sacred responsibility, or rather, an obligation.
They needed to guard the holy lands of the Old Continent for the Holy Sis Church, preventing Chaos and Hell and other heretical faiths from invading.
He went too far!
