The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 1756 - 491: The Blood Race from Demon City Arrived Before the Nobles of the Holy City_2

Many noblewomen and socialites passing by Nanfu cast him looks of affection, attracted by his pitiful expression, especially the older noblewomen.

They used folding fans to cover half of their faces, concealing the smiles at the corners of their mouths, yet forgot to hide their predator-like gazes.

'What a pitiful child, he must have been terrified by the war. Come to sister's arms for a while to hide...'

Frequently receiving such attention, Nanfu, who was in an "enemy country," thought he had given himself away and hastily tidied his starch-stiff collar, inadvertently drawing a few giggles. The gazes became even more invasive.

Until Vivian, who was leading Nanfu, clicked her tongue in annoyance and looked disdainfully at those shamelessly behaving people, causing them to finally move their eyes away with cold expressions.

Rescued, Nanfu showed a relieved expression, gratefully glancing at his elder sister, not realizing he completely misunderstood those aggressive stares.

He hadn't given himself away at all.

In fact, compared to Vivian, whose arrogance was written all over her face, his expression was more in line with the current social atmosphere of Thunder City.

After all, the "Jelock Faction" and "Edward Faction" nobles were not two completely distinct groups but intertwined and intermingled.

Many had cousins serving as officers in the noble alliance army, while others were being drawn into Edward's regular army. Being caught in between was the most normal thing.

And in these inconsequential joys and sorrows, many young men and women from prestigious families lost their homes.

However, none of this had anything to do with the demons from Hell.

"Ah, Nanfu, do you smell it? The despair and fear lingering in the air are so sweet, kuku..."

Vivian's voice was gentle yet carried a shiver-inducing ecstasy. She slightly closed her eyes, inhaling deeply the air her brother had breathed.

"So, so strong..." Nanfu heard and showed solemn respect. Although he couldn't smell what his sister described, he could clearly feel the tense nerves of the city.

If this was all part of Lord Demon King's plan, it could only mean that the esteemed Luo Yan was terrifyingly strong, no wonder Elder Zakeruo was no match for him!

"The Dragon family couldn't plunge humanity into such large-scale panic for hundreds of years. Brother actually achieved it so easily."

It was said that "collecting Fear Energy" was the only indicator of a Demon King's performance, a line written in the textbooks of Demon King Academy.

Yet Nanfu, still in the Ivory Tower, evidently did not know that fear was just a means, not an end. For a professional Demon King, even the means could be substituted with something else.

For example, the people of Thunder County used to often say "Saint Sis above," but now what people frequently say is "… this thing sold its soul to the Demon."

And this so-called "thing," can be replaced with anything they currently dislike.

Nanfu's gaze was quickly drawn to a nearby newsstand. His eyes lit up, and he quickly stepped forward, pulling out a freshly sold newspaper.

On the front page headline of the newspaper, it boldly read -

This is an act of war! The Kingdom has declared war on us!

And the subheadline wording was even more intense, calling them a group of ungrateful scoundrels, saying we had just handled the crisis of Chaos for them!

Lord Demon God above!

Nanfu's index finger trembled slightly, but it was not out of fear; it was from sheer joy and awe towards his brother.

Humans—

Have started fighting amongst themselves!

"Hey! Don't read if you're not buying!"

The vendor's shout interrupted Nanfu's reverence.

Nanfu was startled, like a child who did something wrong, cautiously returning the newspaper, even slightly bowing to apologize.

He was a polite child, a stark contrast to Vivian, who, when yelled at, would just glare back in indignation.

Vivian sneered at Nanfu, feeling utterly embarrassed by the tag-along, feeling disgraced for apologizing to a piece of food, yet she didn't say much.

At this moment, she was immersed in infinite admiration for her brother, so much that her reverence was almost overflowing.

Being vampires from Hell Demon City, the two little ones were obviously ignorant of the complex entanglements of interests and class conflicts in the Human World.

However, in terms of results, their judgment wasn't wrong.

Luo Yan, or rather Prince Colin, was indeed the catalyst for all this.

If it weren't for this Prince of the Empire bringing the "Roxey Rifle" and a vast overseas market, Duke Edward's reforms wouldn't be so aggressive, the old nobles wouldn't be so panicked as to jump out and resist, even going as far as seeking aid from neighboring Royal Families and allowing in wolves.

However, placing such an explanation in the official history would obviously be somewhat logically forced; at least Duke Edward wasn't chosen by Lord Demon King.

The current state of the Campbell Duchy has nothing to do with the maze of Thunder County; it is more like a call within the hearts of the Campbell people, as well as a rebellion against traditional feudal duties.

When all farmers can get enough to eat, citizens no longer merely seek bread, merchants stop after just one deal, and nobles realize that the duchy's glory is also their own, even if they do not understand what the elephant in the room is, they will unanimously do something for change.

They all long for change!

And the Demon King heard their inner call and merely responded to it.
