The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

It has been two days since the last battle, and now everyone has recovered and is ready to resume training.

Klaus first gathered them for a team meeting where he would implement his first battle-style development for them. This battle plan had been created according to the pair game system.

He will be pairing them into groups of two. Of course, he planned to pair Anna, Lucy, and Yasmin in the same group and Ling, zing, and Choi in the same group.

But the rest would be in pairs.

For the next six days, they will each train together and get to know each other’s fighting styles.

“You all did well in your previous battle,” Klaus began, now addressing all of them.

“Your performance was far better than the display in the first battle. This was a result of following a well-structured plan devised by your team leader.”

Lucy smiled. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t happy to be praised by Klaus. Klaus is like the pillar they all look up to, so it felt nice getting praised by him despite him being her man through and through.

The plan she devised was one of the best she had ever done, and thankfully, she was getting the recognition she deserved.

Of course, she knew there were shortcomings, and knowing Klaus, she expected his next words would address that.

“But there were some things that could have been done better,” he said, smiling at Lucy.

“In your team, you have two individuals who could perfectly aid you and Anna in combat: Lily and Mason.

Even Mark is qualified for that role, too. But I understand where that pairing came from. So why don’t I improve that and make it more coordinated?” Everyone nodded without question.

Every last one of them is as good as new, thanks to Klaus using the dome he created for them as healing chambers.

The immortal ice, the only forbidden ice he doesn’t use for evil, was used to create them.

Naturally, whenever the battle was over, Klaus uses the Devouring Ice to devour the remains of the Ants and transfer the energy devoured into the domes.

This sped up their healing process manifold, and they are thankful for that. This shows how much Klaus values them.

So they are ready to listen to him no matter what.

Even Amelia, Choi, Sofia, Jake, and Tyson are all ready to hear what he has to say.

Over the past few days, they have recognized the potential in Klaus’s training, and since then, they’ve become more obedient. Even all their hatred for him has been washed away.

Now, they all look up to him.

“So this pairing will allow you to learn each other’s style of fighting, understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and even learn how to complement one another in the battles to come.

Yasmin, Anna, and Lucy, you will remain a team.

Yasmin will help you expand your control skills. With her skill set allowing her to expand your battlefield by three times, you can exert more control.

Now, Anna, you will use your water element primarily for healing and, when necessary, for attack. This is due to the marks you placed on your teammates.

Your water element will focus on healing, while the ice will aid your sister in trapping your foes. Of course, you can use the ice, too, for healing, but focus more on trapping your foes.

As to who will be killing the trapped targets, this is where the next team comes in.

Mason, you and Lily will move together.

Your job is to be ready whenever these two trap an opponent.

Your reaction speed should be quick enough, as most trapped monsters need less than two seconds to break free, especially the tough ones.

So be quick and ensure they don’t waste your energy.” The five nodded.

Lucy’s team is the most important.

With Lucy’s vines, she literally has the power to control the entire battlefield. However, while that is ideal, she couldn’t kill most of them at her current stage.

When Fruity met Anna and Lucy again in his fourth incarnation, she had just become a Domain-stage cultivator and had formed her domain.

Back then, when she helped Fruity in battle, her vines were everywhere, and no matter how fast you were, escaping them was the least of your worries.

They had a draining effect, so she never tired from combat. She extracts the life out of all she traps with her vines.

Klaus knew she still had that power within her, so he wanted to exhaust her limits in the next battle.

Perhaps this would help her understand her vines more before awakening her bloodline, automatically making her start reclaiming her past life.

As for her sister, she will realize her potential soon enough, for she didn’t move from Ice Princess to Ice Queen for nothing.

“Next team. Sofia, you have a flame-type affinity that lets you harness the power of a dragon. This means you are essentially a dragon in human form.

You are also surrounded by fire. So, I have only one teammate in mind who will complement you well.”

Klaus turned to Amelia. “You are the Phoenix, which means you are also made of flame.” Klaus smiled.

“I don’t know about you guys, but when flames and flames meet, nothing good usually comes out of it.

However, from my experience, flame users can easily create combined attacks that are incredibly destructive in battle.

Now, imagine a dragon and a Phoenix soaring to the skies and descending as one, creating miles of deadlands just from the shockwave alone.

I can see that, and you two must see that, too.

Of course, the saying that dragons and phoenixes are enemies is true, but in this team, you will one day prove to these two races that they are just idiots.

I will teach you three combined attacks right after the pairing. Learn them, and please don’t slack off.

You wouldn’t want to spar with me.” Klaus displayed his 32 white teeth, making the two ladies shudder in their boots.

Klaus smiled and turned to the next pairing. Since he planned on using the next battle to see their developments, he would do just that.
