Chapter 200: Conan Vs Seth [Final]: A Taste Of His Own Medicine

BOOM!

An explosion went off as Conan’s flame dragon, which was launched at Seth, landed.

The academy students immediately cheered as the tables seemed to have turned, but it seemed they did so too soon.

The flames cleared up, revealing what seemed like a shield made completely of vines.

Some had been burnt to ash, but Seth was smart enough to layer them, so the flames hadn’t broken through.

Conan let out an annoyed sigh at that.

Dragon flames would’ve broken through, but this was just the first match of the tournament, and he had no intention of burning all his mana here.

The vines made way to reveal a completely unharmed Seth.

"My region specializes in multiple elements..." Well, I wouldn’t call it specializing, but I am quite interested in how you can switch between multiple elements," he said, seeming genuinely curious, "are you perhaps contracted to multiple spirits? Or is it one with a potential to become ancient?"

"You’ll have to ask old man Alvíss," Conan answered, "for now, let’s just get this over with."

Seth was silent for a while before glancing at the excited crowd and letting out a sigh.

"You’re right," he agreed, "I’ll have a proper discussion with this old man Alvíss after this festival is over."

With that, the vines around him suddenly buried themselves into the ground, but instead of caution, Conan suddenly blasted himself towards his opponent.

The vines suddenly burst out of the ground, trying to restrain him, but they were each caught in his flames, quickly turning to ash.

He extended his hand and folded his fist in a punch, but just before it could connect, a vine suddenly slammed into him and although it was also turned to ash, it managed to reach and redirect him.

Conan skidded to a halt as he frowned, looking towards Seth.

He was certain that his flames were hot enough to not let any vine through, and yet, one managed to get past them.

His eyes glowed again, and an interface appeared before him, explaining exactly what just happened.

The vines were actively adapting to his flames.

With each one that was turned to ash, the others got a tad bit harder to turn to ash. Which meant that the longer this fight dragged on, the harder it would get.

And soon enough, the plants might just adapt enough to get that Parasite to cling to him even through the flames.

Which would be a big problem.

Which meant he had to end this quickly.

Conan clicked his tongue and looked at Seth, who was watching him with that same calm expression as before.

Another vine burst from the ground, this time thicker than the previous ones, and Conan burnt through it, but he felt the difference immediately.

"This is getting annoying," he said with a frown.

But the next second, to Seth’s surprise, he suddenly slammed his flame-coated fist into the arena floor.

The flames around him suddenly got brighter and started burning hotter as they moved towards his arm and then to the arena floor, surrounding him.

Seth raised an eyebrow in confusion, but he soon understood what his opponent intended to do.

Because the next second, the flames surrounding Conan suddenly spread across the ground in every direction.

The vines that were quickly forming suddenly came into contact with said flames, quickly turning to ash.

Even Seth was forced to move, finally taking a step away from where he had been since the fight started.

The academy supporters finally began cheering as they realized the first-year might actually have a chance at winning.

Seth moved quickly, and the moment he was certain that the flames wouldn’t reach him, he lifted his palm in the air.

It was Conan’s turn to be confused, as vines from higher up the arena’s barrier instead tried to envelope them from above rather than below.

"Aren’t those things only supposed to come from the ground?" He said, certain that plants needed the soil to grow.

Growing in the air was quite illogical.

But then again, he wasn’t one to speak of logic since he was basically a magic tool at this point.

He let out a sigh and glanced towards the vines that were quickly approaching, and in response, he suddenly switched modules.

His hair went from red to white as ice suddenly coated his arms, and he launched upward, meeting the overhead vines with frost instead of fire, freezing them mid-growth before they could reach full length.

To the confusion of the crowd, he suddenly made ice spread beneath his feet, extinguishing the flames around him.

But only a second later, and without the ice even fully forming, a vine broke through the ground beneath him.

Thanks to the ice, the vines only managed to lift him off the ground without touching him, and it ended up frozen just like the ones above.

The next second, all the vine ice sculptures suddenly broke into smaller shards.

"You’re more troublesome than I expected," Seth admitted as he watched the scene before him.

Of course, he was quite surprised that his opponent had another element, but at this point, he was starting to wonder just how many the kid had.

"Yeah?" Conan said, landing back on the ground, "I used to get that a lot....though it has been a while since I heard it."

He extended his hand toward the nearest frozen vine and allowed the ice to melt before grabbing it.

The next second, a ui popped up in front of him.

{A new mana subtype has been added to the Nexus database.}

{Element successfully copied.}

{Module successfully created.}

{Would you like to activate it?}

Conan looked at the interface before smiling and turning towards his opponent, saying, " Let’s make this a lot more interesting, shall we?"

Seth looked at him for a while, and bit confused.

Was he going to pull out another element?

At this point, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore.

But he was also half right, because a second later, Conan’s hair suddenly transformed to green.

A wide smile appeared on the first year’s face as he said, "Let’s give you a taste of your own medicine."
