The Kitty Became a Cutie and Was Pampered in the 80s
Chapter 2414
Chapter 2414: Chapter 2414
When Feng Nianian wasn’t speaking, Jiang Xun observed her expression, noticing that while there wasn’t anything unusual on her face, her right hand was unconsciously rubbing the hem of her clothes. He realized she wasn’t completely unaffected, and his gaze darkened accordingly.
At night, once the world was quiet and still, Jiang Xun emerged from his room and stood on the study balcony, pondering matters under the cold moonlight.
The things Duan Sishu mentioned today were astonishingly unconventional, things most would refuse to believe, yet Jiang Xun felt there was a possibility of their truth.
Besides, now that he’s calm, he couldn’t help but recall another matter.
He picked up his phone, scrolling through the contacts, and dialed a number.
"Xiaoxun?" Jiang Bin’s voice came through, slightly distorted over the phone.
"Uncle, when are you free? Let’s gather and have a meal." Jiang Xun suggested.
Jiang Bin chuckled from the other side: "It’s rare, you actually invited me for a meal. Sure, you give me a time, let’s meet up, it’s been a while since we last saw each other."
"Tomorrow, after work, at Xuji."
"Alright."
Jiang Bin agreed immediately.
After hanging up, Jiang Xun stood on the balcony with his phone and made another call: "Investigate all matters related to the Xin Family from the past ten years."
Unclear what was said on the other end, he agreed: "Alright, as long as the information is accurate."
This time, after the call ended, Jiang Xun didn’t make any more calls, but instead looked up at the dim, fading moon, a hint of a smile creeping onto his lips.
The next day, after work, Jiang Xun went to Xuji. Jiang Bin was already seated in the private room, with a waiter brewing tea before him. In the midst of swirling mist, he said something which made the young, pretty waitress smile and cast him a admiring glance.
Jiang Bin was now in his thirties, yet he remained unmarried, and still appeared as dashing as before, albeit with a touch of worldly wisdom in his gaze that came with age.
Seeing Jiang Xun at the doorway, he immediately smiled and gestured, "Sit down, I haven’t ordered yet. You take your pick."
Over the years, their relationship had been good, akin to a father-son yet friendly dynamic.
Jiang Xun stepped in, ordered a few dishes, and as the waitress left with the menu, Jiang Bin took a sip of tea from his left hand and raised a question, "How have you been lately?"
He asked and didn’t wait for an answer, continued, "Your mood must be good, otherwise you wouldn’t have called me out for a meal." While saying this, he poured another cup with his left hand.
Jiang Xun didn’t speak but watched as he poured tea with his left hand.
Jiang Bin wasn’t originally left-handed, but in the year Shu Wen got engaged to the young master of the Qin Family, he was assaulted, his limbs broken while wrapped in a burlap sack. Though his hand was later repaired, it left some residual impairment.
Afterwards, despite the Jiang Family’s efforts to investigate the assailants, they found nothing substantial and eventually let it drop.
At the time of Shu Wen’s engagement, he wasn’t present, but later heard rumors linking it somehow to a cat.
Later, Jiang Bin was beaten and he speculated if it might have been the Qin Family in favor of Shu Wen. But now he considered there might be another possibility.
He lowered his head to drink tea, using it as a cover for his expression at that moment: "Uncle, do you remember Aunt Jiaojiao’s engagement back then?"
