Chapter 391 - My Woman!
Hearing this, as predicted by Charles, did gain Javier's attention.
He looked straight at his brother with the existing calm but there was evident turmoil inside the back of his mind.
"Ahead."
"She asked about you, your well-being mostly."
Charles told him, a little bit speechless to see that his brother was still very much deeply attached with the woman who actually had put him in this situation.
If she had actually spoken the truth before, maybe they wouldn't have to face their consequences.
However, the entire blame can't be just pushed over her head when their father was equally involved.
He was someone who had made his son go into the death bed, for which they are punishing him quite well.
Javier's brows lifted which took a deep breath. Nodding his head, did he move his eyes from them towards his hand to see the bandage still warped there, "Ellen, your words?"
Ellen was hesitant, still thinking whether this topic was supposed to bring in front of him.
Yet on the second note, they believe that it will actually give their friend a push and give them a hint, to make them understand what was bewitching in Javier's brain.
Taking a deep breath, he answered, "Whatever You asked me to say. You had guessed it quite correctly, she called me with Hannah's help. She was worried for you, crying and yelling... but I simply stuck to the fact that you aren't in any good condition and in a complicated position."
"Anything else?' Javier again asked, with slightly more enthusiasm.
"I told her that we have lost all hopes for your recovery.." Ellen paused in the middle to note his friend's expressions.
They were still stagnant in their position, not even a slight change was noticed.
It made them curious, why was he behaving in such a strange manner?
But Ellen had another bundle of questions that were currently residing in his brain, "Why do you even wish to make Jennifer so much, brother? She's your wife.."
To which, Javier didn't put the answer on any plate.
He took the help of Charles to get on his bed before he asked him to give him water. Gulping the same, he massaged his ears a bit and then caressed the bandage that was wrapped around his head.
"She needs that…" Javier's hand was converted into a small, loose fist, "It will make her stronger..I know my woman, she will do her work, while I will be continuing my work from here..."
…
The night was long and after taking some rest, Jennifer heard a knock over her door. Her mother was standing outside with a bright smile that hangs around her lips
"Dinner is ready. Let us all have dinner at one place.." Amelia maintained calm expressions.
At the same time, Jennifer's eyes averted to see her best friend still on call for her work, making Jennifer finally answer her mother in a whisper, "We will come in a few minutes."
"S-sure!" With this, Amelia once again closed the door.
Leaving them alone, Jennifer saw Hannah engrossed in her work. She was wearing her noise-free headphones, due to which she was unknown to her mother's appearance before.
Standing on her toes, Jennifer walked closer as she kept her hand over her shoulders. "Hannah.."
"Hmm? Yeah?" Hannah asked when she lifted her eyes to see hers. "Mom is calling us down.. let us go."
"B-but.." Hannah was a bit surprised that Jennifer so easily agreed to have dinner with her parents.
It was unusual, even after knowing they aren't involved in any good for her?
But seeing her determination, made Hannah finally agree to her words. They both stood on their legs and came down in the dining room to find the entire dining space was filled with Jennifer's favorite dishes.
All the food made Jennifer's lips twist but without uttering, she sat quietly on the chair. Her mother came from the other side to pour some food onto her plate.
"You have to eat a lot of healthy food, Jennifer. Your body needs a lot of stamina." Amelia told her before she gave her rice.
"Also… try to have as many fruits as you can, will it be good for your.. stomach too?" Amelia chose her words with care.
Yet, Jennifer didn't react and only ate what was given. Opposite to her, at her father who was only observing his daughter being extra quiet.
The awkward situation needed to be eased when the man coughed a bit to gain her attention, "Jennifer…?"
"Hmm?" Jennifer muttered in between her breathe without lifting her eyes.
"You will have to forget about your past. You can't hold it.. the more you do, it will hurt.." the piece of advice that David gave to her, made Jennifer feel the irony in his statement.
What does he mean that she needs to let go of her past? Has he forgotten that her life has turned upside down, because of one past of hers?
A faint smile landed over her lips when she said, "It is embedded in my brain. Can't be taken out in a few hours."
"We understand child but this is life! How will you move onto the next stage of your life if you still think about that kidnapper? Hmm?" Amelia said when she took the other seat and stared at Jennifer with worriedness.
While Jennifer didn't try to even react to the same, it never meant that accepted whatever they told her.
Next stage? Yeah, her next stage is to get revenge!
But unknown to everyone present, Jennifer's heart was getting heavier with the passing second. Swallowing food became extra difficult, at the edge of even losing her appetite to eat.
But then, this all wasn't enough to make her lose her sanity. The next words of her father almost made her vomit the stuff that was residing in her stomach.
"T-tomorrow.. we are going to the Smith's Mansion, to have a conversation with the Smith family members."
