Chapter 358 - Most Dangerous Man!
His words gave her mixed feelings, not able to define whatever what he spoke was right or wrong. 'Or maybe... it is true...maybe no..'
She had a variety of reasons to run away. Not only that, even though she earlier thought maximum times about it, yet for now, she could feel herself once again in the same conflict.
Was her step to get away from everything ended up not being in her favor?
But then, she remembered that it was too late to think now. "I'm already here and there is no option in my hand to return. I don't want to return anymore and this is final."
"But who will safeguard you and your children here? Your husband who is himself in danger? I don't know how will he help you out with the entire scene of his enemies trying to kill his lineage."
Charles was himself wondering about how can be the man be so thirsty to actually remove all the possible ways of Jack's family. Why will someone be like this?
While Sierra was herself not able to find the defined answer, she once again took the sip of the coffee before her eyes flew to look at the man, "This is what…I need your help about."
"It is true that Jack might not help or probably, he wants to help but..there are chances that his help here will not be that effective."
"Listen, I don't want any kind of protection for me at all and this is the truth but …can you just..help me to safeguard my children from everything that's happening? I don't want ANY harm to them…Please, Charles." Sierra spoke in a serious and pleading tone.
Her desperation state was purely evident in front of him where he had to make a tough choice right now. Hearing her plea only made Charles frown deeper.
He could sense his breathing getting even deeper where the suffocation had started to even clutch his heart. 'Gosh…why does her emotional tone still impact me to that level?' This was surprising.
Yet for now, the situation needs to be cleared out before…everything goes into the blunder and she ends up being killed or her children being one of the possible targets to the enemy.
Taking a deep breath, Charles controlled the turmoil of sentiments that were currently going inside his mind. It was hard, he thought.
"What kind of protection can I provide to your children?" Hearing his possible and kind of agreeable voice, made Sierra's heart hopeful, "Two bodyguards. I can't lock them in the house for everything."
"Soon, they will once again go to school...and till the time, this mess is cleared or Jack takes care of those people..I need your help with this." Sierra was honest.
While Charles massaged his brows, he nodded his head. "Alright. That is not a big deal for me. Let it be for the good days we have spent in the past...this is the least I can do for you.."
Sierra's lips were converted into a thin line when that statement entered her ears. Her grasp on her dress firmed but she never let her expressions take notice of the same.
Lowering her eyelids, she gave a weak smile, "The old days which were a bliss..." She mumbled in between her breath, inaudible for him to hear.
"Anything else from my side?" he asked when he took the is of his coffee, to which Sierra simply shook her head. "This will be very helpful for me for now.. I only want my children to be safe from all the mess.. the underworld is the last thing that carries in my mind."
"Yet you married into one. Hah, isn't that funny?" Sierra's brows twisted when she made a look of not understanding what he meant by that. As he noted the same, a smirk pulled off from his lips as a chuckle left his mouth.
"Your father...used to think that I'm a dangerous man. Guess what? He ended up marrying his daughter to a family's son who is himself involved in the underworld. Wow, what a coincidence..."
Sierra's heartfelt a tinge of sadness that longed before she masked up too soon with her broad smile that never died down anytime soon.
"He was clueless at the time..."
"But that never changed the fact that...someone, whom your father considered to be the most dangerous threat, is today the same man, from whom you are actually asking help. What a funny way. Truly, this is surely karma!" Charles's eyes shined when he reminisced about all the old ties.
When he wanted to marry her, her father was the number one obstacle in everything. He could never forget how much he had to go through just to convince him when he was at the stage to leave his father's business to get his lady love.
But... people change, so did his lady love who backstabbed him and married a man who was considered to be perfect for her...
A scoff left his lips when a mist layer covered his eyes to feel the tinge of unhappiness in his own heart.
He could see himself already hollow after her departure. How many sleepless nights he went through.
While Sierra didn't utter even a single word in response to the same, she simply focused on finishing her coffee. The silence drove in between them but it was soon broken when they both finished their coffee.
"Let us go out now. I will do as you asked me.."
"T-Thank you.." she only said before Sierra carried her handbag and they both stepped out of the restaurant at the same time.
Looking at him for the last time for the day, she was ready to walk in the other direction of the road before he called her again.
"Sierra?"
Turning around, she looked at him with a questionable gaze. "Yes?"
His gaze was intense, making her want to shrink somewhere else. "I wanted to say if y-"
"Mommy!"
