Chapter 338 - International Marriage Certificate
"At least I can be unhappy by the fact that she has someone who.. is in love with her." A faint smile lifted Ryan's lips but only Ellen realized how much pain he held behind the same.
There was no denying in this, that his friend was also a strong person. However, his strength collapses when it comes to Amaira.
Letting out a sigh, Ellen wrapped his hand around Ryan's shoulders to press them, the act to show he is there for him. "Probably you are thinking wrong…"
"She doesn't have anything for him, unlike that Shane guy," Ellen told, in the hope to lighten up his mood.
Turning his face in Ellen's direction, Ryan let out a deep chuckle, not filled with happiness, "If her wish mattered, do you think that I would have been sent abroad with Javier?"
"Nevertheless…" tugging his hands into his pocket, his gaze why once again straight to where the car left, "..Mr. Johnson would have seen this man much more compatible for their daughter. This is right… Someone like me? I think I can barely keep her happy and give her the lifestyle she has right now."
With Ellen's creased brows, he passed Ryan a deep glare to indicate he was wrong. "She isn't a materialistic person."
"She isn't but her family surely is." Saying this, Ryan brought his goggles out of his pocket to wear them. Hiding his eyes behind the colored surface, Ryan stared at Ellen to signal him to let go of this matter.
Without even waiting for Ellen to respond to this, he made her way out of the hotel, towards the car when Ellen just stood there as if his leg was stuck with glue.
Ellen's stagnant gaze didn't have much impact either but deep down, he knew this man was purely putting up an act of bravery to cover up his inner turmoil.
A smirk curved on his lips when he shook his head at the instant realization of the two different people. "Both of you are such stubborn people…"
…
At the same time, in the car, Amaira sat with deep silence that stayed between her and Shane.
No word left her mouth, only to look outside of the window with her longing gaze. Taking a peak of hers from the corner of his eyes, Shane immediately knew she wasn't fine either with her aura dropping immensely.
"Do you want something? A coffee?" He asked politely, only to receive a shake, "No thank you. Just take me home…"
"You know you can talk with me if you are in some trouble." He only dropped a hint, that he is willing to listen but her heart wasn't at the stage of opening up her wounds.
She didn't reply to Shane, but the earlier conversation rotated like a reel in the back of her mind. Ryan's distant face never left her brain, as if it was a picture glued with the gum.
'God… Amaira… stop thinking about that bastard..he is a committed man now..' only if she knew the ultimate truth…
….
The night fell very soon Jennifer sat near the fireplace of their room. It was snowing outside today, and with this weather, she decided to start the fire herself.
Keeping the logs of the wood one by one in them, she sat on the carpeted floor with a shawl that covered her shoulders perfectly. Her open hair made her look beautiful, a typical wife in the await of her husband.
A few minutes later, the door of her room was opened but Jennifer didn't find the need to turn around and see. After so much time of togetherness, the presence was itself felt.
"You are early today…." She mumbled when she felt the door closing. "Hm.. I didn't speak or make any noise. But you already knew that it was me?"
"Some things are sensed without being said or listened to," Jennifer said when she stood on her toes to walk in his direction.
What she came across was a tired face, with his eyes heavy as well. Jennifer took his bag out of his hands to keep it on the table. With this, she helped him to take his trench coat out and walked to the closet to hang it. "It is cold outside."
"It's snowing. Obviously, it will be cold" He told but Javier was more concentrated on her actions. Just from the start, she appeared calm, unlike last night where they fought. 'Did something make her so deeply calm?' The information he received from the butler was, she didn't leave her room for the entire day.
Except for asking for the logs of wood, she stayed inside throughout, not even coming down to have breakfast or dinner. That was very strange of her. Or to be more specific, her attitude doesn't suit her.
"Did something happen? Are you fine now? Did you take your medicines?" He asked again, in the hope to have her answer as hurriedly as possible.
Javier walked to the side table of hers, only to check the medicines which she has taken and which are yet to be taken by her.
On the other hand, Jennifer just hung his coat inside, as she turned her head around. "I did. You don't have to worry about that."
"I can see that. But, any other symptoms you feel?" He asked, with the slight worry evident in his speech. "No, everything is fine, to begin with."
Jennifer walked slower to his side to take his hands into his, making him stand on his toes. Without asking her question, Javier followed her lead before she made him sit near the fireplace as she again sat with him.
Not only that, Jennifer brought a blanket to cover them when she sat in his embrace with her back facing his face. Taking the blanket by their hand, she covered them with the same as she felt the sense of security already arising in his arms.
"Um...this feels good…" she mumbled, when these words brought a faint smile over his lip, "I'm happy that it makes you happy."
"Yeah... Javier.. I was wondering about something." Jennifer spoke while keeping her eyes closed at the moment of feeling her body melting with his scent. "What did you think?" Javier asked with equal curiosity where his hands were playing with her hair.
"Do you know anything.. like an international marriage certificate thing?"
