Chapter 233 - I Will Never Cheat!
At this stage of life, she actually got to meet his mother, who is residing in heaven. Probably because it was late at night and with deafness around, she can feel her stomach churning something.
"So.. she is your mother and the first lady of the house?" Jennifer asked to conform to which he simply nodded his head.
Adding to his sentence, he spoke, "Also, your mother-in-law now.." the word sounded too odd to her yet she found it freshly embedded enough.
Even though the environment around this cemetery was somewhat haunting but the powerful feeling of knowing that Javier was behind her here was enough to make her feel happiness and assurance in her heart
It was an unknown sense of relief to know that he is taking this marriage, not like a mere joke at least. Bending on her knees, Jennifer sat on the ground, opposite the tomb when she caressed her hand over it.
."If he had told me that he was bringing me to meet you, Mrs. Johnson, I would have brought something for you…."
"Not Mrs. Johnsons anymore but… Ms. Andreson." Javier's correction from the past, made her stare at his face, "Then why is her first name not written over it?"
Hearing her query, Javier tugged his hand in his pocket to reply back, "Something that Mr. Shawn didn't agree upon. He wanted his wife to be his wife itself, no matter what comes.."
She found it strange and a little bit ridiculous too. If Mr. Shawn already had a mistress before and he married her too, then why not simply let his first wife be single again?
Yet keeping her things in the back of her mind, Jennifer again shifted her face to look at the tomb with her straight eyes, "I..Am Jennifer Taylor, now Jennifer Javier Johnson. We never met Ms. Andreson. But I would let you know that your son is very much like you.."
"You aren't here to witness today but, they have totally taken after you and are indeed following the steps which you gave. I agree sometimes they might cross the limit but they have immense love for you.."
Her words brought a faint smile over Javier's face when he heard what she was doing. 'Tsk tsk.. you are trying to read the good books of your mother-in-law?' This only brought a light chuckle over his lips.
Yet he maintained his calm and only exchanged gazes with the tomb to recall the last time he had a conversation with his mother, regarding the marriage of his and brother.
It has been years yet the memory is fresh in his mind. If she was here, how much would she have loved to meet their brides, even though they were already very young? He wasn't even an adult at that time!
But her mother's longing to have a daughter was much more than any of them. Since she never had one, all she wanted was to shower her daughter-in-law with immense love… but her wish remained a dream itself..
"She would have been very happy if she was here…" Javier's heavy voice from behind made Jennifer understand that it was hard for him, "I would love to meet someone as strong as her.."
"Indeed she was strong enough to handle all the hardships in her life. Unfortunately, she met with some.. leave it." Javier didn't complete his sentence and left it hanging by the middle which irked Jennifer.
In fact, her heart longed to see the face but her mind told her to keep still and stare at the tomb. "Ms. Andreson, I have married your son. From now onwards, I will make sure that I will love him and be devoted to him. Adding to that, I will cherish him as the flowers in your garden. You can expect me to be a wonderful wife to your dear son. Don't worry about him anymore.."
Jennifer was slow in her voice but it was loud enough to be heard by Javier as well. His eyes were teared at the sight where he felt that his heart was flattered at her wordings. 'I wish Jennifer if I could tell you the entire truth and didn't indulge you in this marriage with lies..'
This marriage was supposed to be on the basis of love and emotion rather than starting on a bad note. 'I'm sorry mother but I have to do this. She will be hurt in the future but I hope you will understand what I'm doing.'
His gaze never tore from his mother's name where he felt a sudden heartbreak to recall his she used to laugh. The smiles of hers were embedded in his mind where a giant smile lingered on his face. As it was dark already no one could witness the same, neither Jennifer whose back was facing him.
But caught his eyes was how Jennifer rubbed her shoulders. Removing his jacket, he placed it on her shoulder, "It is cold here. Take this one.."
"Th..Thank you." Jennifer's timid reply made him nod his head when he showed how she easily gave herself under his embrace and jacket.
They both didn't move an inch from the place but kept the gaze over the mother and her tomb. While one was smiling a little bit, the other was recalling the mixture of sweets and some bad memories.
At last, Javier knew he had made a big mistake now. This can't be done anymore. 'I know mother, you were killed mercilessly. Just wait for a while, l will find your killer very soon..'
'Your son started a new life today. I don't know if you will be angry at me or not. But I do love her mother, you know me, you must be aware how much I love her…'
She wasn't her in this world anymore, neither was she when he went to university. But one thing which he used to do was to talk to his mother's pictograph back in those days whenever he felt something needed to be shared.
Tugging his hand in his pocket, Javier's madness and stubbornness to have Jennifer wasn't an easy one either. To have her, he lied but this lie might turn into a big one.
'I will take care of her mother. I take an oath in front of you that.. in this life, Javier Johnson will never cheat on his wife, and will love her unconditionally no matter how many misunderstandings will come in between.. your son will stick to his words, my Dear mother..'
....
How do you find Javier's honest oath?!
