Chapter 169 - Call Your Friend!
In return, he received a nod from her side when she maintained calm on her face to not let herself be shown weak.
Now, understanding the entire situation better, he knew that he was in worse condition, to begin with.
First her puppy, then the old lady, and afterward her best friend… all those misfortune events made her a robot and she started self-blaming.
With this thought, Javier wanted to react and say but at the same time, he knew that she didn't need his comfort.
It was a delusion out of which only she can overpower and can come out only if she has the will to do so.
At the thought, Javier moved his neck in her direction to see her shrinking more to the corner of the seat.
"You don't have to feel guilty. It is alright. I'm in no position to judge you and your experience."
"I know you will not judge them at any cost.. but.. sometimes.. reminiscing them all at once, pinches my heart," Jennifer replied with a heavy heart.
With all the efforts, Jennifer looked outside of the window to see different landscapes, of the mountains, shining under the moonlight
The road on which they drove was a curvy one, at least the headlights were properly functioning.
"It is already dark. I guess we should be arriving very soon." Javier burst her query, without her asking.
"Looking forward to the same. It was a tiring day.." With this, both of them decided to let the silence come in between them but it wasn't uncomfortable either.
With the passage of time, their car entered the campus of the mansion.
Throughout the journey, Javier was absorbed in deep thoughts but not anymore.
Stepping out of his car, he immediately ran to another side, opening the door of her car, "Give me your hand."
His actions puzzled her when she raised her question through her facial expressions.
In return, he replied, "You don't have to worry… this is not sympathy. I don't wish us to have dinner with the rest of the members so.. to bring you straight away to the top.. this is the way."
His words were a bit confusing, not making her fully understand what he intended.
But at the same moment, Jennifer kept her hand in his.
What she sensed was the warmness in his hands while gentleness in his actions.
Closing the door behind her, he intermingles their hands into one and passes her an assured gaze.
"Let us go.. and remember, not to look in my family's direction, alright?" Getting from her side, they both started their way inside the large villa.
Entering through the main door they were very close to the staircase yet before that, someone did take the notice of their arrival.
"Oh Oh, l so finally the Prince has returned back to the house in the night? Mr. Javier Johnson, may I ask, where are you until this late?" The sarcastic tone of Shawn made Jennifer frown.
'As if they care?' This was what she thought but with no intention of interfering in their conversation, Jennifer stayed silent.
Looking forward to his answer, Javier looked around to face his father from a certain distance. His eyes balanced in coldness.
"Today… Mr. JOHNSON INTERESTED to know the location of his son.. when in the past, my mere absence has ever bothered you?"
"Javier!"
"Don't shout. Yelling won't make you super either and right. Yes, I was out with her for some reason and I guess, that doesn't concern you either since I attained my adulthood long back ago.."
With his imposing and aloof speech, Javier held Jennifer's hand and brought her straight to their room without turning with the constant taunts and curses that his father threw in his direction.
Meanwhile, Shirley was least bothered with the enmity between the two. Neither did Amaira take it as a major issue.
But Charles noticed his brother's behavior and narrowed his eye. 'Looks like.. something happened. But in what kind of hurry is he?'
….
After retiring back to their room, he locked the room from behind. Jennifer was ready to go and freshen up but before that Javier interrupted through his words.
"Umm.... Jennifer. Wait.." gaining her attention, she shifted her focus on his figure when he walked to the closet and took out something from the drawer.
'What happened to him out of blue?' She kept on wondering but at the same time, he stepped closer to her and then showed her the box.
Unwrapping it in front of her, what came in her sight was the mini phone. "This…"
"I have two phones. One is.. which I always use and this is the second one. While the current which I'm using is for everything but this.. is specially designed."
Javier told her the significant difference between the two. But this doesn't extinguish her query, "Why carry two phones though? Isn't it troublesome? Also, as far as I know… this."
A giant smile curved on his face, "These are the old-fashioned phones.. I know that very well. But I have kept them alongside me so that I can use them in case of emergencies."
"This phone might look old-fashioned but it has all the qualities. It was changed into a small packet with most of the technology to carry out other things." Javier switched it on which gained Jennifer's interest too.
She had seen the same in the movies or.. either with her parents in old times. Nowadays, these phones aren't sold anymore.
Seeing the one, she was looking to the technology and other interesting things yet his next step made her alerted and taken back.
Taking her one hand, he brought it up and kept the phone in her palm. "You have to use it now.."
"What.. Do you mean by that?" Is he providing her the phone?
She wasn't going to let herself be fooled by the thought that it was impossible.
Seeing her puzzled and twisted brows, Javier slightly smiled and answered with the same sweetness.
"Since you are missing people…. go and call your best friend now and ask her to come here."
