Chapter 1469: The Death of Davis

With his x-ray vision, Lin Tian could see. Beneath the fierce beast’s head, another highly intricate mechanism was buried.

Since the grand array had already changed the position of this stone door, it’s very likely that the mechanism inside has also changed. Wang Sijing had mentioned earlier that she couldn’t be certain if this was still the original method to unlock the mechanism.

Lin Tian didn’t understand mechanisms, but he understood safes! Back when he was first cracking national treasures, Chen Moxiang had set up a test for various people from different backgrounds, one part of which was to break open the safe code in the shortest time possible.

Therefore, Lin Tian was particularly familiar with the sound emitted by the beast’s head door ring turning. He was certain that reversing a circle would trigger a new mechanism, leading to yet another disaster.

Lin Tian really wanted to curse out loud. What the hell was the Wang Family ancestor thinking?

If the previous grand array was meant to fend off enemies, then what does it mean to change the mechanism inside the beast’s head now? Normally, only the Wang Family understand the method to unlock it; is this meant to kill their own descendants?

Suddenly, a flash of insight crossed Lin Tian’s mind, unveiling a new understanding.

Could it be that the Wang Family ancestor created the beast head mechanism to prevent thieves from entering? The true unlocking method was actually left for the descendants, but Wang Sijing hadn’t thought of it?

Thinking of this possibility, Lin Tian looked at Wang Sijing with an unfriendly gaze and said irritably, “Is there a second method to unlock this beast’s head door ring? I hope you think carefully before you speak.”

“What do you mean?” Wang Sijing said displeased.

“Isn’t my meaning clear enough? I fear your family ancestor left the unlocking method for the descendants long ago, but you’re too stupid to remember it for a moment. With your comprehension, no wonder you managed to cultivate the Golden Core with my help; you’re really too dumb.”

Wang Sijing had always been a praised child and only Lin Tian had ever belittled her like this. This made her furious, and she wanted to fight this bastard with flying claws and teeth!

Lin Tian immediately stepped back two steps, pouting, “Can’t bear being called dumb? Or would you really try turning that door ring counterclockwise and knock three times, and see what happens then. If your life ends, don’t blame me for not warning you beforehand.”

Wang Sijing calmed herself down; at this critical moment, Lin Tian was more urgent about this matter than she was, so he probably wouldn’t speak without reason.

Thinking that maybe he just saved her life with that push earlier seemed absurd to Wang Sijing. Even if he saved her, it would be with ulterior motives!

Focusing again on the beast’s head door ring in front of her, Wang Sijing started thinking deeply.

A second method?

Suddenly, a flash of insight came to her, and she recalled something very important!

She remembered, both the ancestor and her father had told her. The mechanisms within the mausoleum changed endlessly; should she encounter any unforeseen situations, do the opposite!

When someone told her this last time, she was very young. She couldn’t possibly keep this in mind back then. But recalling it now gave her chills.

Understanding the key point, Wang Sijing returned to directly face the beast’s head. This time, she did not continue reversing the door ring; instead, she turned it clockwise.

Lin Tian extended his ears, listening intently. Not hearing any strange sounds, his anxious mood gradually calmed down.

After the door ring was turned clockwise, it couldn’t turn anymore. Wang Sijing then gently knocked the ring three times.

Bang, bang, bang!

The sound of the ring was a bit dull, like thunder.

At this moment, something unexpected happened!

The beast’s tongue suddenly moved! As swift as lightning, it stabbed at Wang Sijing’s hand before she could remove it from the ring! She screamed sharply, frightenedly letting go of her hand.

The tongue that pierced Wang Sijing’s skin retracted, and after two seconds, the stone door hummed once. It opened.

Lin Tian glanced at Wang Sijing and noticed the wound from the stab was small, so small it could be ignored. He then said, “That tongue just now should have been tasting if you have the Wang Family bloodline. This design really is…”

Lin Tian didn’t continue speaking because Wang Sijing’s gaze was very unfriendly!

Another glance at the stairs behind the stone door, almost identical to those encountered previously. To avoid unexpected incidents, Lin Tian still chose to take the lead, cautiously probing each step.

At this moment, Wang Sijing, following behind, suddenly asked, “Besides being the resting place of my Wang Family ancestors, the mausoleum is a heavily trapped danger zone. Some places even I dare not approach. There are no valuable treasures here, what are you people coming for?”

To Wang Sijing, these people were invaders, whom she deeply loathed! She agreed to lead Lin Tian down here, believing there were mechanisms powerful enough to kill Lin Tian and his group!

Lin Tian replied without turning back, “We’re here to find the Luban Lock.”

This statement made Wang Sijing’s pupils contract. Clearly, it struck a nerve; as a direct descendant of the Wang Family, she naturally knew about the Luban Lock.

“Again, for the Luban Lock,” she murmured softly.

Lin Tian chuckled and casually asked, “Is there anyone else interested in the Luban Lock?”

“There’s another person from the East Continent named Davis, he probably told you about the Luban Lock, didn’t he? That idiot is still loudly investigating my Wang Family, which is essentially digging his own grave.”

Lin Tian replied, “So, he’s already dead, isn’t he?”

At today’s wedding banquet, Lin Tian hadn’t seen that foreign fellow in a suit, already making this inference. If he were alive, he’d definitely arrive before Lin Tian for the banquet.

“Of course, not just him, but also his companions. As for how they died and their bodies were dealt with, I don’t know,” Wang Sijing said coldly. “But I’m sure your fate will be like theirs.”

By this time, the group of four had reached the fourth level of the mausoleum via the stairs. With the headlamp’s illumination, they saw another passage in front of them. Unlike earlier, there were stone doors on both sides of the passage. With his x-ray vision, Lin Tian could see this was where the Wang Family ancestors were interred, as there were coffins and burial items inside.

Retracting his x-ray vision, Lin Tian sneered, “You’re just a woman who can’t do anything but throw threats. Don’t you think that’s pretty stupid of you?”

“Hehe, is it really like that?”

As she spoke, Wang Sijing suddenly directed her palm at the side of the passage. A stone brick, following her palm, sank into the wall.

Lin Tian’s heart shouted trouble; surely it’s a trap!
