Chapter 402 Clash Of Words
“You’re Adhara who…?”
The last words that come out of Evelyn’s mouth reverberated inside the room, it was like a wave of electricity that makes Adhara’s body stiffen.
Evelyn kept looking at Adhara as if she were waiting for Adhara’s reaction,
While Edward is panicking on the side as he inspected Adhara, he’s afraid that Adhara might flip out and he will be too late if he didn’t react fast.
Silence covered the room as Adhara and Evelyn stared at each other,
But the outburst from Adhara never came as a smile crept on her face instead, she then replied, “Are you nervous Evelyn? Did you even mean what you said?”
Hearing this, Evelyn tilted her head in confusion.
“My eyes can see right through you…”, she mumbles lightly.
The sudden change in Adhara’s front makes Evelyn frown since she was not expecting this, but then Adhara added, “If you’re nervous then you must know the answer to your question right?”
With her eyes that can see emotions aura, Evelyn’s strong image can’t fool Adhara.
“It’s true that my feats are nothing compared to Rex but…”
After saying that, Adhara stands up and she approaches Evelyn slowly.
Edward was about to stop her but there is no malicious intent coming from Adhara, she was terrifyingly calm unlike her stirred emotions before.
Adhara then bent her body to lean closer to Evelyn’s ear,
“I’m the woman that Rex chooses, while you’re probably still nothing in his eyes except for a helping hand. He didn’t even touch you despite your attempt am I right?”, Adhara whispers lightly making Evelyn clench her hands.
The reaction confirms Adhara’s words to be true as she went back to sit beside Edward.
With a triumphant smile, Adhara then waves her hand, “I’ll tell Rex about your invitation. You don’t need to worry, I’m sure he will be there since I know him very well…”, she said.
Adhara didn’t forget to emphasize the last parts of her sentence,
Knowing that she just lost in a verbal fight against Adhara, Evelyn glance at Adhara one last time before she stands up, “If that’s the case, I’ll take my leave”
Evelyn left under Adhara and Edward’s gazes,
But after closing the door of Rex’s room, and walking away, Evelyn looks back to the door as there’s a spark that lit up inside of her before she turns away and leaves.
After Evelyn left,
Edward is looking at Adhara with a new light as he was frozen in place.
From the side, Adhara can feel Edward looking at her intently as she asks, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I don’t know what you said to Evelyn, but you handle it perfectly!”, Edward said.
Although Edward didn’t hear what Adhara whispers to Evelyn, he still saw the change in reaction on Evelyn’s face which shows that what Adhara said works wonderfully.
He even can’t help but raises two of his thumbs at Adhara,
Adhara rolled her eyes again feeling that Edward is really annoying, “Just shut up”
Meanwhile, Rex landed in front of the Wind Sorcerers Guild.
Rex arrived in front of a deep cliff that spans a couple of miles, the flying buildings of the Wind Sorcerers Guild are lined up neatly in front of him that bridges the cliff.
The place looks beautiful to any passerby that saw this,
But these beautiful buildings and scenery don’t impress Rex as he knows who is the leader of this place, it’s Wesley Atkins and he’s not a good person at all.
Just like any other guild building,
The Wind Sorcerers Guild building is filled with Awakened coming in and out of the building, all of them are accepting quests and other things from the guild.
Some of the passersby recognize Rex since he didn’t bother hiding his face,
Rex glanced at one of the higher-flying buildings as he sensed someone is watching him from afar, and it didn’t take long for three-person landed in front of Rex.
Amongst the three was Wesley wearing his fancy green uniform with the air of leadership.
Many of the people were shocked when they saw the president of the Wind Sorcerers Guild come down himself to meet with Rex, the sharp and powerful aura attracted their gazes.
“You came to my territory alone?”, Wesley asks with a stoic expression.
Hearing this, Rex looks down before he shakes his head, “Of course not, since when did I become so reckless like that?”, he replied nonchalantly.
Before he went here,
Rex asks for Kyran to follow him secretly alongside some black hands just in case, Kyran is wearing the Astral Blanket so his already thin presence is practically undetectable right now.
After saying that, he then added, “I need to talk to you”
“I’m sure you want to hear what I’m about to say”
Wesley’s mouth quirk up into a smile as he rubs his chin, “Hoo… Lead the way then”
Rex leads the three into a quieter place, he found a restaurant nearby that is packed with people, ‘I need to talk with him in a crowded place, there’s no guarantee of what he’ll do’
But then Rex glances back to the three following him,
‘It’s weird, Hans is not amongst them. Where is he?’, Rex thought.
The four of them enter the restaurant before they sat on the corner-most seat, it’s the most appropriate one to talk privately as it is quite far from the other seats.
“So, to what do I owe this visit from you?”, Wesley said lightly.
Hearing this, Rex sat on his chair unmoving while looking directly into Wesley’s eyes for a couple of seconds filled with silence before he replied, “You attacked civilians…”
“I don’t remember doing that”, Wesley denied almost instantly.
This makes Rex frown as he added, “Hans attacked two civilians in a civilian neighborhood, you’re aiming for Edward but this is too much. As his master, you’re the one who will responsible for this incident”
But instead of what Rex expected, Wesley chuckles as the two others besides him also chuckle.
“It’s quite new so you might not receive the news yet, but Hans has been retired as being my right hand. His actions are not my responsibility anymore”, Wesley replied.
He then points to his side, “This person beside me here is his replacement, his name is Paul”
Rex’s eyes then landed on the person beside Wesley with a frown,
The man called Paul then smiles lightly as he said, “I hear a lot of things about you from sir Wesley, it’s an honor to meet with you Rex Silverstar”
Although Paul has a smile with a friendly demeanor,
Rex already saw through him as he bore malicious intent which makes him sigh, ‘Hear a lot of things about me from Wesley? Then he must hate me too’, Rex thought.
Ignoring Paul’s remarks,
“Is that so? If that’s the case then I’ll pursue it no more”, Rex said.
He then sighs before he then gazes back at Wesley and added, “Why don’t we end this?”
“I’m willing to compromise as long as we can finish the bad blood between us, and you might be surprised at how much I’m willing to compromise”, Rex said with a stoic look.
His expression didn’t change as he calmly analyze Wesley’s expression,
Wesley’s expression changed for a slight moment as it seems the proposal Rex said surprised him, but his expression turns neutral again, “I was not expecting this…”
“If I may ask, why decided for peace now?”
Rex then replied, “The problem between us is blown out of proportion”
“This problem should’ve been able to be resolved through just a dinner, so it’s better for both of us to focus on what lies ahead. After the SCO allied with the UWO, we will be hectic for sure and this includes your family is it not?”, he added convincingly.
Upon hearing this, Wesley leans back on his chair contemplating.
It’s true that after the UWO and SCO ally with each other, humanity will surely make a move against the Supernatural including the 25 Golden Crest Families.
They will be helping in whatever plan the UWO and SCO devise,
After contemplating for a moment, he then leans his body forward before he said, “I’m also a visioner, and realize that our fight is meaningless and unnecessary. So I’m willing to compromise”
“As a sign of peace on my part, I will give you a great spellbook for your family”, Rex replied.
Hearing this, Wesley’s eyes glance at Rex sharply before he smiles lightly, “Then I’ll take you up on that offer, and may we see past our problems for a better future”
“Besides, you’re just defending yourself am I right?”, Wesley asks with a smirk.
Rex maintain eye contact as he nodded his head, “That is true sir Wesley, very true”
After saying that, Rex and Wesley stand up and they both shake hands.
One hour later,
Rex bids his goodbye as Wesley left the place, he’s now looking at Wesley’s back as his expression turns violent, ‘He didn’t even give any courtesy for his willingness to compromise’
‘He’s fucking lying!’, Rex thought as his expression darkened.
Although Wesley also accepted the proposal,
The lack of courtesy alongside a notification from the system makes Rex clench his fist angrily, he knows that the chances are slim but he still hoped that Wesley will accept to end the problem between them.
But it seems it’s only hopeful thinking on his part,
<Killing Intent!>
Wesley Atkins just bore imminent killing intent towards the user, any beings that directed their killing intent to the user must be punished! Kill Wesley Atkins to assert dominance for the future foes that try to mess with the Alpha!
Time Limit: 2 Months
Quest Reward: 5,000,000,000 Exp, Fervor of Agility, Diabolic Claws of the Origin Fragment.
Quest Penalty: Failing to finish the Killing Intent quest will occur a heavier penalty.
Just the notification alone shows that Wesley doesn’t want to let their problems rest, and in fact, he even becomes determined to kill Rex and trigger the Killing Intent quest.
It makes his blood boil as a figure came out from the shadow beside him,
“What are we going to do? Is the matter with the Atkins been resolved?”, Kyran asks from the side while also looking at Wesley and the others’ backs.
But upon seeing Rex’s expression, Kyran takes back his words.
Rex grits his teeth angrily before he mutters, “The matter is not over, but I’m going to end it as soon as possible. Meet me in front of the room at night”
Moments later,
After meeting with Wesley Atkins, Rex got back to the university.
Rex is now looking at the inventory where two Spirit Soulstones lie, one belongs to Adhara and one belongs to Kyran which he bought earlier.
It’s the spirit they need to be assimilating to reach the sixth rank,
‘Kyran still needs way more mana in each of his media to assimilate with this spirit, but where would I get the dark elemental stones from?’, Rex thought with a frown.
Although the system shop has it, the price is absurd for one of them.
It costs 1,000 gold for a low Dark Elemental Stone, that’s an astonishing a hundred grand just for one low Dark Elemental Stone which is far from enough.
The system already calculated the amount of mana needed for Kyran,
It is stated that Kyran at least needs about 3 to 4 days’ worth of mana in each of his media, and if he relies on natural dark mana in the surroundings instead of using Dark Elemental Stone then it will approximately take about 1 month for each of his media.
Rex finds this unacceptable since it will take too long,
If he waited for that long then Rosie might already die ten times over, he’s thinking of a way to gather Dark Elemental Stone before he suddenly realized that he’s already in front of his room.
Upon arriving in front of the door, Rex smells a familiar scent.
‘Evelyn was here? What is she doing here, isn’t this her first time visiting my room?’, Rex thought as he remembers her scent clearly.
But he can’t be blamed since Evelyn sleep beside him a couple of times,
Thanks to his outstanding smell, even if Rex doesn’t want to his brain will still automatically remembers Evelyn’s scent which is very distinctive that can even make his heart thump faster for some reason.
Pushing the door lightly, Rex was immediately greeted by Adhara.
“Adhara? Why are you standing by the door like that?”, Rex asks in confusion, he almost jumped when he saw Adhara’s face suddenly appear after opening the door.
Without even saying anything, Adhara held him by the arm and pulls him away.
Rex didn’t even have the time to enter the room before Adhara dragged him away, “Where are you taking me? Don’t you think telling me is better than dragging me?”
“We’re going to the training ground, and you’re going to help me reach the sixth rank”
Hearing this, Rex was confused as to her sudden request of her but he eventually lets himself get dragged by Adhara to the training ground.
Half an hour later,
Rex already inspected Adhara’s media with the system and finds that it’s insufficient.
Adhara needs to gather more fire mana to make her media robust so they can sustain the red serpent spirit, it will take about two or three days before she’s ready.
Now Adhara is showing Rex something,
SWOOSH!
The two daggers on Adhara’s hands are blazing with purple fire,
She said that she wanted to show Rex something and told him to pay attention to the daggers, and when the daggers glow violet Rex’s eyes widen when Adhara lost control.
BOOM!
“Are you okay?!”, Rex shouted as he was surprised by the sudden explosion.
It came out of nowhere, Rex saw that Adhara has no problem controlling the violet fire but out of nowhere she suddenly lost control as the fire mana exploded.
Adhara stands up as she replied, “I’m fine… but that happened every time I use both daggers”
Hearing this, Rex frown as he looks at the daggers.
Rex takes the daggers from Adhara before his body glows with black lightning, he then also imbued the black lightning into the daggers before the same thing happened.
BOOM!
The smoke covers the vision but Adhara saw Rex is unmoving from his spot,
Although the explosion should’ve hurt him from the scratches on his body that are starting to heal, Rex didn’t mind that as he looks at the daggers.
‘System, What is causing this’, Rex asks.
But the answer from the system makes Rex’s eyes widen,
Seeing Rex’s eyes widen in surprise, Adhara approaches him from the side and asks as it seems Rex just found out something, “What is it? Tell me if you know how to fix this”
Adhara shook Rex’s body a couple of times after finding that he didn’t respond.
Rex snapped out of his daze when he realize Adhara is talking to him, he glance back at the daggers one last time before he turns to Adhara, “Have you heard of a Dual Elementalist?”
