The Invincible Full-Moon System
Chapter 2062: Another One Fell
Rex tossed High Millinar Julas aside like he was trash.
His focus was fixed solely on High Millinar Angela, the person he wanted to kill the most.
Of course, he would also kill High Millinar Julas for ever touching Davina. Nobody who laid their hands on those close to him would be spared. Nobody. But even then, first come would be the first served.
High Millinar Angela wronged him first, so he was going to end her now.
"What’s the matter?" Rex asked, raising his brow at her useless flailing. "Surprised?"
Rex saw what High Millinar Angela did before she merged with High Millinar Julas.
Based on the System’s scan, the method she used was a rare one. It was a method where one would sacrifice their own divinity and merge it with another to bolster the other’s strength, a typical method used in an emergency.
One like she was experiencing right now.
Since it was a universal method, with everyone being able to use it, the way the method played out would be different from one another. It was entirely based on the caster’s ability. And the effect would also depend on the compatibility of both sources of divinity.
High Millinar Julas and Angela were under the Overseer, so their compatibility was perfect.
It was how they were able to get so much stronger.
But it was still not enough to defeat Rex.
And in High Millinar Angela’s case, the rare method worked through shredding her form into the purest form of astral essence and merging it with High Millinar Julas’ body. Since Rex was still tied to the astral, he had no problem pulling her right out.
Doing so required overwhelming divinity against the target.
Since he absorbed High Millinar Vlaos, he got enough divinity to do exactly that.
"Do you feel regret now? Had you not wronged me, I would’ve granted you a swift and painless death. But since you did, this was inevitable." Rex said as a sinister smile sliced his face open, exposing his fangs. "In your next life, shut your mouth."
"Regret? Edward is dead!" She bit his hand hard, though without her divinity—it did not feel like anything now. Just like the bite of a baby. "Even if he is still alive somewhere in the Chaos Realm, I hope you never fucking meet him!"
"Such meaningless words from someone who was already dead."
Rex raised her higher, boasting about her as the next sacrifice to the Greater Moon above.
Her sharp words meant nothing to him, as the dead wouldn’t be able to curse him.
And then, he squeezed her neck tightly.
Rex summoned the Aegis of Moon Sentinel.
Below him, the golden disc materialized—its surface shimmered with translucent light.
He stepped to its edge while High Millinar Angela was still in his grip, thrashing wildly—her nails clawing at his arm, her teeth snapping at his hand, and her feet kicking his body. But none of it did anything to him.
Regardless of what she was doing, he ignored her completely.
Rex simply willed the golden disc upward, carrying them both a bit higher into the dark sky.
Just enough to give distance from the dark ocean below.
"Where are you taking me?!" High Millinar Angela screamed. "Bastard, where are you taking me?!"
Once the golden disc came to a halt, Rex’s eyes locked with hers again.
And then they flickered with darkness.
Rumble—!
Far below, the dark ocean began to rumble.
It started as a low growl, deep and primordial, like something stirring in the belly of the world. Then the surface began to bubble. Slowly at first, then faster—until the entire ocean within a half-mile radius was churning like a boiling cauldron.
Hearing the growing growl of the dark ocean, High Millinar Angela glanced down.
She froze at what she saw.
Bubbles. Thousands of them. Rising from the depths.
And then the surface broke.
Thousands upon thousands of twisted oceanic creatures emerged violently. Their bodies were wrong—covered in eyes, mouths filled with needle-teeth, fins and limbs and tentacles twisted into impossible shapes.
They surged upward.
A living tide of hunger and hate, their maws open wide, their fangs gleaming in the darkness.
Each one was fighting the others.
They wrestled, snapped, tore at each other for the spot directly beneath High Millinar Angela.
Dark blue lightning sparked across the surface—as the strongest among them pried their way to the center, charging straight through the mass. The massive ones whipped their tails hard and sent the smaller ones flying, clearing paths to the center.
Around them, the water churned violently, splashing and rolling.
A chaotic maelstrom of abominations, all desperate to be the first to reach her.
Desperate to devour High Millinar Angela alive.
Just the sight of it was horrifying, and the intent was clear.
For the first time since Rex had his hand around her neck, she stopped thrashing entirely.
A bleak energy began to seep from her body. Fear. Not the fear of battle, not the fear of pain. The fear of death. Of being eaten alive. Of being torn apart by a thousand mouths and dragged into the depths.
Without the high emotions clouding her mind, the truth crashed down on her like a wave.
She was going to die.
She was going to be eaten.
And there was nothing she could do about it.
Rex could smell her fear.
It was sweet. Intoxicating. He let it wash over him—let it fuel the darkness in his eyes.
"Now you truly understand the situation you’re in..." Rex whispered—as he finally saw what he wanted to see on High Millinar Angela’s face. Helplessness and dread. "This is the end of your road. This is where you die."
High Millinar Angela gulped harshly.
She stared at Rex and then back down at the maelstrom of abominations. ’I’m going to die...?’
Being near death was not something new for a High Millinar like her—as most of her life was spent in battle. In fact, she was already numb to the feeling of almost dying. And she was quite sure the others were also like her.
It was simply the natural path for everyone who lived in the same life as her.
Since she was alive up until this point, those near-death experiences ended well.
Even though she almost died, she didn’t die, and that’s the point.
But now, with Rex’s hand around her neck and a whirlpool of death right underneath her, she finally felt the fear of death once more after centuries. Right now—she was truly going to die, and there wouldn’t be any miracle saving her.
Just then, the golden disc tilted slightly.
"Rrrgh!"
Rex looked over his shoulder and saw High Millinar Julas on the other side.
He grabbed the other side of the golden disc and climbed up.
"You’re not going to kill her!! You’re not!"
A raw, defiant roar escaped his mouth as he charged straight at Rex—with everything he had. For a split second, his immortal energy surged once again, flaming around his body before he made the pounce.
But a figure came down from the sky faster than him reaching Rex.
Clang—!
Davina hovered above the golden disc with her palms that were glowing with emerald light, pointed at High Millinar Julas. She used her power over the moonlight to drive High Millinar Julas down, pinning him to the translucent surface.
Her breaths were already heavy and made a deep, suction sound, but she was still strong.
Other than her failing body, she was still fine.
High Millinar Julas thrashed and fought, but the extraction of High Millinar Angela from his body had weakened him to the core. His strength was almost gone—and he was temporarily put in a state of exhaustion.
During their merged form, the two of them were one.
She was a part of his soul.
And for her to be wrenched out that roughly also impacted him badly.
Now, even Davina, who was the weakest of High Lord Rashal’s warriors, could hold him, the strongest warrior under High Lord Ursa’s side, down. And the irony was not lost on him, as it was the other way around at the start of the Purgation Duel.
But then again, things would always end up this way.
It was settled that way since they didn’t focus on freeing Diamantona first.
"Don’t do this!" He screamed again, but it was a scream of helplessness now. "Don’t fucking do this! If you do this, nobody would tell High Lord Ursa to show you mercy—after this duel was over! Do you understand?!"
"Bold of you to still think your side would win this," Davina scorned at his words. "Can’t you see the situation as it is? One of you is already dead. Now, you and her would also follow the first one. Diamantona is still imprisoned. The other High Millinars are struggling against Vadyn. And High Lord Ursa... He’ll lose to High Lord Rashal. Your side is finished."
"No!" High Millinar Julas looked up at her. "You’re the one who doesn’t understand! High Lord Ursa never lost. Never!"
For a second, Davina could see conviction behind his eyes as he said those words.
Rex also saw the same thing.
She then sighed.
"Everyone thought they were unbeatable—until they lost. Even your High Lord would not be an exception to that rule." Davina turned her head towards Rex. "I am guessing he’s trying to achieve the realm that would never happen to him."
Rex didn’t answer.
He didn’t need to answer as she could already see between the lines.
A Scion’s true aim was invincibility, and that meant becoming unbeatable for eternity. ℯ𝕝.
Rex turned away and fixed his eyes on High Millinar Angela again.
She was staring at High Millinar Julas, her eyes soft with something that looked like pity. She was comforting him—through telepathy, perhaps, or some private channel that was exclusive to them. Words that no one else could hear. Apologies, maybe. Or reassurances.
Slowly, High Millinar Julas’s face crumpled.
He could see it in her eyes—the surrender. The end. She had stopped fighting.
Rex readjusted his grip on her neck. His claws found the places they needed to find, tracing patterns into her skin that glowed faintly with dark energy. The Heresy Mark. He completed it with cold precision.
And then he opened his hand.
High Millinar Angela fell.
It was a four-second drop. Four seconds from his hand to the ocean below. But for her, it felt like an eternity. She had time to see everything. Rex’s cold, indifferent face watching her fall. She saw Davina’s expression, a mirror of Rex’s, cold and detached.
And she saw High Millinar Julas, still pinned, still screaming.
His voice cracked with anguish as he watched her fall.
She had gotten herself into this mess. She was the one who made the mistake.
And now, at the end of it, there was nothing waiting for her but death.
Her body struck the dark ocean.
She didn’t even feel the water.
Only something hard against her back—another oceanic creature.
Its body a wall of muscle and scale. And then the chaos began.
Every single creature went feral.
They fought each other to get a bite of her. They tore at each other, snapped at each other, killed each other—all for the chance to sink their teeth into her flesh. High Millinar Angela opened her mouth to scream, but she couldn’t hear anything.
Seems like the initial impact had crushed her eardrums.
She was no stronger than a being from the lower realms now.
Her body now refused to use divinity, so her Demigod power was no more.
But she could still feel everything.
She felt her skin being torn apart. Sharp fangs sinking into her bones, cracking them open to get at the marrow. Small nibbles from tiny creatures that leaped from the water—eating through her eyes, her cheeks, and her lips.
She felt her organs being ripped out, her intestines unspooling into the water, her heart still beating as something bit into it and tore it from her chest. Blood dyed the dark water. Her blood.
It spread like ink, a cloud of red that drew even more creatures.
She died faster than Rex expected.
And then, she exploded into divinity. A burst of cold, blue light that erupted from her corpse.
It shot upward, a streak of pure power, and headed straight for Rex. It struck him in the chest, absorbed into his body, and he felt it—the rush of strength, the surge of divinity points, the cold satisfaction of a hunt completed.
"Another one fell."
