Chapter 1882: A Powerful Man

Chapter 1882: A Powerful Man

Rex learned about all of them. Most came from a rich family that owned medium-scale businesses, with Aaran being the richest and also the one who indulged in politics. It was the reason why he knew—and could talk back against Aksa.

One that would allow him to gain access to the Cavity.

She was mainly thinking about letting Rex get to know Aaran, but it’s not going well.

“Your plan was to bring me here to get to know him?” Rex leaned over to Davina and whispered. “He’s used to being the top dog of the group, and he won’t appreciate my presence here. Just look at him. It’s not working.”

“Sometimes, I wonder whether you did it deliberately to mark her,” She added in annoyance.

She knew that for certain. or else he wouldn’t be able to take down the empire and the Sky City.

“What are you talking about?” Rex sipped on the wine awkwardly. “I didn’t do it on purpose.”

Better let her or Lilliana be the one to talk with him.

Rex glanced at Aaran and saw how tight his face was. He used to be the star of the group, and now, his friends were all excitedly flocking around Rex. It was especially so after what happened with Aksa and his goons.

Heck, even a good acquaintance would do for them.

I need to get close to him since he’s the one with the access I need—but getting closer to him would be hard. As Davina said, it’s best to leave the talking to her and Lilliana. But still, it’s rather wrong to take the back seat and let them do everything.

For him to stay idle like this isn’t really his style. He needs to do something.

Davina made a deal with him that he would help them reach the Cavity in exchange fo leaving Lilliana behind so that he could woo her. And she would certainly ask about that after dinner—but Rex doubted that he would fulfil his side of the deal.

And at that moment, Rex’s eyes connected with Bellana’s.

Her family’s business dwells in a memory vault, right? Hmm, I think she might be able to help.

“Mmh,” Lilliana nodded, still tired from earlier. “Don’t take too long.”

Instead of going to the toilet, he exited the restaurant and looked around. Like earlier, the mall was still bustling with music blaring from the speakers. He looked over to the right and saw a glass door leading to an outdoor place.

Nobody was there.

Frankly, Rex never expected anything modern in the God Realm.

Even the honking of cars and motorcycles sounded like music to his ears. It has been a long time.

She stopped right beside Rex and leaned over the railing. “Am I… in trouble?”

“I’m not plotting to kill you.” She grabbed her braid and shifted it to the other shoulder—so she could look at Rex properly. “Even if someone put a gun to my head, I still wouldn’t. I still very much appreciate my life and wanted to live longer.”

Bellana looked into her handbag and took out a golden cigarette holder.

“No.” Rex started to shake his head, but then changed his mind. The memory of his first cigarette that Edward and Kyla made him do resurfaces in his mind. “Actually, why not? It’s been quite some time.” He took one and placed it between his lips.

Once the tip burns, Rex inhaled deeply—and puffed out the smoke with a long exhale.

“Are you a smoker?” Rex asked as he leaned over the railing, taking in the fresh night air.

“How old are you?” Rex raised a brow. “In those thousands of years, you hadn’t even tried once?”

Rex choked on the smoke and coughed repeatedly when he heard that.

“I thought you’d be a few hundred years old,” Rex replied, still looking at her in surprise. He had been used to being the youngest, with those around him being a few hundred—or even a few thousand years older than him. “But you’re even younger than me!”

Of course, she was telling Rex that because he must be surprised since she was already at the three-star Demigod in her divinity. That’s an incredible height for someone that young. Not that he has any right to be surprised by that, though.

In the next few minutes, Rex smoked the cigarette.

Once he finished, he flicked the cigarette away.

“Mmh?”

“Perhaps because I impressed you after what happened earlier,” He continued—staring at her like what he was saying was completely normal to say to a stranger. “Or perhaps because you are young and want to experience things.”

No answer.

“I-I mean, what single women don’t want to do that with you—after what happened?” She played with her feet, shifting on her spot while still trying to avoid eye contact. “Across the clusters, there’s not one realm that exists where power doesn’t rule.”

He stood so close to her that she could smell his peculiar masculine scent easily.

“You still haven’t answered my question,” Rex whispered.

“In that case,” Rex said, lifting her chin until her eyes met his, “this is your chance to do that. I want to ask a favor.”

Rex leaned in towards her ear and whispered something to her.

“I have the contact, but Rex… I can’t do that to him,” She said, hesitant to do this favor. “He’s also my friend. If he knew that I’m the one behind it, then he’ll—”

Bellana looked down and bit her lower lip.

Moments later, the dinner ended.

“Nothing much,” Rex shrugged nonchalantly. “Just making an insurance.”

“How are you going to contact me for our deal?” She asked. “You’re going to keep your words, right?”

Just as Aaran was about to turn and leave, a voice called out to him.

“Hmm?”

“It’s nice meeting you,” Rex said, reaching out his hand.

“What did you guys come here with?” Bellana asked and then took out a car key from her handbag. “If you want, I can give you a ride.”

Just like that, dinner ended.

She needed rest.

Then, when they were away, he leaned down to the window.

“Isn’t that only going to offend him?” She asked worriedly.

“Okay, if that’s really what you wanted.”

Meanwhile, a mile away from the building, a supercar zoomed through the street.

“The fuck?” Aaran cursed in confusion.
