Chapter 1848: Blood Vendetta

Chapter 1848: Blood Vendetta

“You animal!” Evelyn roared.

Her mind snapped from reason as she dared to charge at the uncanny Godling.

But an arm barred her from advancing, stopping her from doing something that reckless.

Princess Selene and the Great Luna warned her not to do anything rash, as the situation was dangerous and extremely dire. One wrong move and she would be killed in the blink of an eye. Nobody could keep her safe as Rex would normally do right now.

Best to remain calm and find ways to escape.

However, their voices couldn’t reach Evelyn.

As much as she hated Calidora. As much as she hated the child inside that devious vampire’s belly. Both have a strong presence in Rex’s life. One that might ground him in the world of the living. If something happened to them, he would lose it.

’He has suffered enough…’ Evelyn’s eyes burn with tears. ’No more… No more!’

Evelyn kept trying to pounce, but fortunately, Princess Selene was there to hold her back.

Even the Great Luna opted from talking to Evelyn and communicated straight to Princess Selene.

[Bring her back to normal. Hit her. She needs to make an escape route right now.]

Princess Selene rarely heard her mother’s voice like this, edged with concern that she could not hide.

“I’ll try!” Princess Selene slapped Evelyn.

But it did nothing more than make her even more feral. Her mind was already drowned in anguish.

On the other hand, the uncanny Godling ignored the quarrels of mortals.

He looked up to the blood moon’s eye and made eye contact with Kaiser, asking for guidance.

Kaiser gave him a firm nod.

It was time.

“Naturally, our meeting must come to an end,” the uncanny Godling muttered.

Princess Selene glanced over her shoulder—while still holding Evelyn back. One could see reluctance on her face. Perhaps seeing how it ended up now, she regretted ever aligning herself with Evelyn when their doom was really so near.

If she held out longer, then maybe she’d be on the winning side.

“Do not fear,” the uncanny Godling shook his head. “Once the troubled Silverstar Pack is gone, there needs to be someone to lead the werewolves. As I said, your life is ours. And we do not want your race to perish. Let this warning be a lesson as you move forward.”

Stillness enveloped the area.

Princess Selene contemplated inside, and she couldn’t lie, there was relief washing over her.

Even though she sided with the Silverstar Pack in the end, she’s still the one who held out the longest. She was different than Prince Alaric, who surrendered easily. And as the uncanny Godling implies, the Lunirich Gods needed the werewolves.

And for that, her transgression was pardoned.

“Kill them,” the uncanny Godling’s voice seeped into Princess Selene’s ears.

She blinked and focused on him again, eyes widening in shock.

“Show us your devotion,” He added, pointing at Evelyn, Gistella, and then finally Adhara with his really long index finger. “To move on from this, the Silverstar Pack must cease to exist. Feed them their own hearts, and offer their bodies to the Scarlet Garland.”

At the command, a rush of electricity coursed through Princess Selene’s body.

Her blood reacted to the uncanny Godling’s command.

And it made her truly understand that the werewolves are bound eternally to the Lunirich Gods.

Bam—!

A blunt energy struck Evelyn like an air bullet, throwing her away as she screeched against the ground.

It gave Princess Selene the time she needed to do what she needed to do.

“Go on,” the uncanny Godling urged. “Don’t choose to die with them.”

Princess Selene stared at him and then at the ground. Right now, the moment was hers. There’s a clear path for survival right before her—and all she needed to do was to seize it. ’As long as I am alive, I can turn things around. I can still…’

She couldn’t finish the sentence inside her mind.

For once, she didn’t know why.

Blood rained down on her, wetting her fur, and drowned the moment in the scent of blood.

Corpses littered around her, and some were still groaning in pain.

Searching for guidance, Princess Selene looked to the side at Miriam. She was also already looking at her. There’s a change in the Shaman’s face. Gone was the familiar deference that she was accustomed to. In its place stood something else, hopeful doubt.

’What is she expecting from me?’ Princess Selene questioned inside.

Looking to the other side, she met with Adhara’s gaze.

Adhara’s eyes were completely white and filled with feral anger. She was now struggling to sit up.

Around, the Godlings stared at Princess Selene with collective condescension.

Considering that she sided with the Silverstar Pack earlier, she was not surprised by their hostility. But perhaps even if she wasn’t on the wrong side, they would still look down at her because she’s nothing more than a mere mortal.

Such thoughts sprouted mixed feelings inside of her.

[Even though the Origin made a deal with the Lunirich Gods, he never accepted absolute subservience. Neither should you. These beings aren’t werewolves. They only wear the face of one. The Silverstar Pack, on the other hand, is a werewolf and a human. That makes all the difference.]

“Make your decision now, mortal princess.”

Princess Selene clenched her fists hard as the Great Luna and the uncanny Godling’s voices pressured her in the moment. On one side, reason wanted her to accept the deal from the Lunirich Gods and rule over the werewolves once more. But her heart said otherwise.

Earlier, she had made the decision to surrender and believe in what the Clarentium Empire represents.

She made the decision herself.

Going back on that right now made her feel awful about herself, and this feeling made it hard to decide.

’I want to follow my heart, but there’s no chance we can win against the Lunirich Gods…’ She clenched her jaw, frozen between instinct and reason. ’If only there was something. A sign. Anything that might indicate we have a chance, no matter how small, then maybe I could—’

Princess Selene paused.

Something caught her attention among the Godlings.

A corpse. No, a few of them are still lying on the ground.

Most of the corpses had returned to normal as these Godlings couldn’t be truly killed. But some stayed still. Some didn’t come back to life. Some that stayed dead. Despite what the uncanny Godling had claimed, there are some who died for real.

’They… They are the ones Adhara and Gistella killed!’

Princess Selene’s eyes widened as she came to that realization.

It was true that Kaiser could orchestrate this intervention within the Mortal Realm because the Silverstar Pack had all become Demigods, weakening the rule that bound Gods from attacking lower beings directly. But that also means the Silverstar Pack could pose a threat to the Gods.

Could harm the Lunirich Gods.

As her decision solidified, it finally happened.

Something entered the space.

Rumble—!

Everyone snapped their heads to a particular space a hundred meters behind, where Sven was pinned down. The air trembled violently—with the suppression of something monstrous. Something that could even draw the attention of both Kaiser and Meloriana.

No change happened on Kaiser’s face, but hard lines made their way onto Meloriana’s forehead.

She was frowning.

Something in the Mortal Realm managed to make a Goddess frown.

And then finally, a thunderous crack happened.

A hand tipped with black-steel claws punched through. The sharpness split the isolated dimension into a vertical slit, and then the other hand appeared too and helped—wrenching the tear wider into a gaping size that is big enough for monsters to slip through.

A devilish, brutal face thrust from the void, snarling with gore and anger.

The dimensional rift chewed through flesh and bones as it forced its way through, but the devil showed no sign of stopping.

Only its soul made it across.

Its monstrous body, shredded and disintegrated, fell away as the rain of blood drowned the pure white color of the soul, turning the very essence of a sentient being into a phantom of blood—and rage. His snout tilted up, pointing at the blood moon’s eye.

Crimson moonbeam showers Rex’s face as he cocked back his head and roared.

“KAISER!!”

His roar brought along the power beyond any mortal could muster.

One that struck deep even into the bones of Gods.

Every inch of the dimension cracked, and a hundred Godlings shattered into a mist of blood, suffering a permanent death without being able to protect themselves. Only the uncanny Godling was somewhat able to endure the violet aftershock.

For a second there, Miriam and Sintra stared at the monster that had made an appearance in shock.

Then, they noticed that its shape resembled them.

A werewolf.

And it was only then that they came to realize that this monster was none other than the infamous werewolf.

The First Hybrid. The Rising Star of the New Era. The Alpha of the Silverstar Pack.

Rex Silverstar.

Even Princess Selene’s face went slack with awe and something close to shame. She had believed that her hopelessness was logical. It wasn’t. It was fear, pressing down, clogging her mind heavily until she went stupid.

She understood that now, as she watched the devil claw its way into existence.

As long as the Royal Black Prince is around, there will always be a chance.

“You have attacked me countless times. You have attacked what’s mine countless times,” Rex’s eyes, maniacal and blinded with rage, stared straight at Kaiser’s cold eyes. “Now, let’s see how you fare being on the receiving end.”

For once, there was a twitch on Kaiser’s face.

He can guess what Rex was implying from that, and he didn’t think it was possible.

But Rex’s face showed that it was entirely possible for him.

“I declare blood vendetta against you.” Rex declared—smiling like he was enjoying this moment. “I will now bring blood and destruction onto you.”

Rex lowered his gaze and focused on the others that lay on the ground weakly from the battles, and then at the uncanny Godling standing near them. His eyes narrowed, and almost instinctively—the uncanny Godling leaped away, sensing danger.

He then cocked back his head again.

But this time, a howl escaped his lips instead of a roar.

It was the Silverstar Howl.

Almost instantly, a surge of energy swelled from inside the Silverstars.

Adhara sprang up with a growl rumbling in her throat. Gistella jolted awake beside her. And Evelyn, on the other side across the valley, rose slowly, deliberately. But all of them snapped from their dazes at the same time and saw Rex.

Behind his eyes, something close to acknowledgment stirred.

Seeing the destroyed valley speaks of the power they now wield.

And Rex was pleasantly surprised as this exceeded his expectations of them.

However, their struggles didn’t end.

Each one of them could see that Rex couldn’t leave the Spirit Realm. His fleshy body was disintegrated from even attempting to poke his body into this realm, leaving only his soul. Something was holding onto him, and the culprit was obvious.

But that didn’t mean he wouldn’t try.

Rex scanned the three of them and then pointed his hand forward.

Steaming moonlight energy enveloped Evelyn and Gistella. And before they could react, their bodies disappeared as they were teleported elsewhere. All that remained was Adhara, and the two of them stared at each other for a second longer.

A smile crept to Adhara’s face.

’I understand. Leave it to me.’ She said telepathically.

Rex nodded, but he gave her a gift.

And with a nudge from his head, two beings slithered out of the portal that Rex kept open.

Amanir and Devo manifested, and their energies and forms were unlike normal. Better. Stronger.

“Help her,” Rex whispered to them sternly. “Make sure she lives.”

Boom—!

Just then, the blood moon’s eyes blasted a moonlight beam that cruised through the air at the speed of light. It struck Rex directly and knocked him back into the Spirit Realm, and in an instant, mended the crack in the dimension that he caused.
