The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1645: Kill Everybody!

Chapter 1645: Kill Everybody!

’I was right.’

Standing beyond the breach on the bubble, Haxel watched the Faceless Reaper’s performance with clear excitement in his eyes. It was worrying at first, mainly because he was dealing with a knight of unknown origin—none knew the full extent of his power.

Seeing how Rex moved extremely quickly and carried unwavering will, he was worried.

Rex hiding his true strength wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities.

But he wasn’t worried anymore.

A smile curled on his lips when he saw Rex get nicked by a powerful strike, hurtling him away.

’His Echo must’ve been a non-combat one since he hadn’t used it even once, but that’s all the better for the reaper and me.’ He turned around, confident that the Faceless Reaper would finish the mission. After all, it was chosen specifically to attack this particular bubble. ’It’s time for me to get hurt.’

Haxel smiled evilly as he leaped away, heading towards where the battle was.

If the bubble really did fall, then he, as the nearest knight to the incident, would also be questioned.

Empress Morgana would be searching for a head to take the blame—or appease her anger then, and he needed to make sure that the responsibilities didn’t fall on his shoulders, ’I’m sure she wouldn’t do that to me, but I can’t take any chances.’

Along the way, he passed a figure who was heading towards the bubble—April.

She merely cast him a look and dashed past without saying anything.

It was a normal encounter, but she stared at him for a second too long for comfort.

And that showed signs of dislike or perhaps even hate.

Haxel looked over his shoulder, staring at April’s disappearing back, “Once my mission is done, she’ll be the only loose end other than that new night. I doubt she knew about this whole ordeal, but I cannot let her be either. She needs to be silenced or die.”

Clearly, April has animosity towards him because of what she saw earlier.

Rex almost attacked him earlier, and she would certainly be the first one to suspect Haxel’s involvement.

Not to mention, she has the blood of nobility—people would listen to her.

Just then, Haxel’s eyes widened—his mind throbbed with an idea.

“I don’t know what their relationship was. I don’t know what Rex’s feelings toward her are, but it was clear that she has a romantic feeling for him.” Haxel thought aloud, turning forward again. “Since that new knight has no standing, nobody would believe him, so I don’t need to kill him. But now… I can kill two birds with one stone.”

A nasty grin crept to his face as he thought of an idea.

One that would guarantee his safety after the mission was successful and completed.

Upon landing back in the battle, he scanned around and found that the voidal monsters were thinning.

As expected of his own legion, numbers would never be a problem.

Unless there was a strong voidal monster above the Immortal Spirit rank, there would be no problem.

Normally, he’d be proud of them and boast about them to the other knights, but he didn’t know what to feel right now. On one hand, his training worked wonderfully as these soldiers were all turned from nothing to the cream of the crop.

But on the other side, he didn’t want them performing well.

At least, not in this particular mission.

“Hmm, let’s see…” Haxel’s eyes flashed with thoughts. “How would I make it believable?”

Several dozen meters away, a soldier who was panting hard and had his helmet off noticed him standing idly. He swallowed to wet his dry throat and pushed himself to walk, ignoring the pain that pulsed into his nerves whenever he took a step.

Haxel sensed someone approaching and glanced towards this particular soldier.

From the deep wrinkles that carved lines across his face, each one a testament to the years this soldier had endured, along with his snow-white hair that spilled down in coarse strands, meeting a beard that framed his jaw like frost clinging to stone, Haxel immediately recognized him.

And from the deep brown eyes that burned with a quiet conviction, he knew what was coming.

“Haxel…” The old man called, stopping right beside Haxel with a painful grunt.

Hearing this, Haxel exhaled deeply through his nose and crossed his arms, “Call me sir.”

“I’ve watched you grow up since you were a baby—and you think now that you’re a knight, you can disrespect me like this?” The old man barked, clearly furious at Haxel’s behavior. “I’m going to call you sir when you become a sir. Don’t even try to use your rank to intimidate me.”

Instead of heeding the old man, Haxel looked away.

He looked like he wasn’t focusing on what the old man was saying, but he was.

Just the subtle glances he made were telling enough.

“Did you do this?” The old man finally asked.

Upon hearing this, Haxel turned away, avoiding meeting the old man’s gaze.

And that was answer enough.

The old man drew in a sharp breath, his eyes widening as he stared at Haxel as though seeing a stranger, “You have to be messing with me, boy,” He rasped, disbelief thick in his voice. “Somewhere along the line, your parents must’ve gone wrong, because what in the God’s name is inside your head?! Do you even realize what you were doing?”

“It’s not something someone like you can understand,” Haxel said dismissively.

“Someone like me…?”

For a second there, the old man looked at Haxel in contemplation.

Then, he realized what this was all about.

“You… You’re telling me that you did all of this,” He gestured towards the entire world—voice rising by the second. “Sabotaging the mission, gambling with the entire well-being of the empire, all because of Morga—Empress Morgana?”

Hearing this, Haxel clenched his jaw, still unwilling to meet the old man’s eyes.

It was obvious that he wanted to argue, to say something, to make the old man understand, but he used all his willpower to swallow the words back down. Nothing would change even if he justified himself to the old man.

Nothing.

Finally, he summoned the courage to meet the old man’s gaze head-on.

Haxel looked at the old man, truly looked at him—his mind assembling the words he wanted to say.

Then, he stepped closer, a deliberate step, eating the distance between them.

“If you go against me… If you tell this to anyone,” He towered over the old man menacingly, rasping with a threatening tone, one that made the old man understand what the consequences of going against him were before he even said it. “I’m going to kill you. I don’t care if you’ve known me for years. Cross me on this, and I’ll kill you.”

“Wh—Where is the kind boy I knew?” The old man took a step back. “What happened?”

“Just this once, I’m not him,” Haxel answered with restrained emotion. “Just this once…”

Meanwhile, Rex stayed on the ground.

He catches his breath for a moment, and the throbbing pain in his chest paralyzes him completely.

Blood slipped through his teeth, smeared his lower lip, and drizzled down to his chin. His vision blurred and focused a couple of times as his heart beat weakly from the backlash. Even though it was nothing more than phantom pain, his body reacted strongly.

It wasn’t the first time he suffered this backlash.

Back in the Forsaken Tower, he deliberately used the Inevitable Death excessively.

All he wanted to do was to feel the pain, to get used to the pain so that it wouldn’t surprise his body the next time it happened. And as intended, his body was used to the pain, but he failed to take into account that the backlash was more severe the more times he used the Inevitable Death before it happened.

Not to mention, this time, he aimed the Inevitable Death at the heart specifically.

His body was extremely resilient, but his heart has always been the vital point.

A Werewolf can only be killed by silver and destroying its heart or head.

Ordinarily, pulling something like that off against him would’ve been extremely hard or even outright impossible—his reflexes were inhumanly fast, his reactions sharper than instinct, and his senses honed to catch even the slightest shift.

But the Inevitable Death bypassed all of it, striking straight at his heart.

An attack that was perfect against him.

Rex could only watch helplessly as the Faceless Reaper and its phantoms phased through the wall.

Even with Rick’s effort, there are still at least twenty that managed to slip in.

“Not strong enough, huh… even with Sonanta’s doll head,” He chuckled through the pain. “Figures. My anger can’t push this human form any further… but I’m guessing yours might. Your turn, Invincible Apparition.”

As soon as he surrendered control, his core began to emanate a hit that drowned his mind completely.

Soon, his eyelids dropped, and once they opened again, his eyes turned a different shade.

From crimson to the color of molten lava, signaling the shift in the one in control.

Pssh…

Rex’s body began to steam the instant he yielded to the Invincible Apparition.

His muscles convulsed violently, swelling with new strength as a scorching heat surged through his veins. It was not the fleeting fury he had felt before, not the raw anger of a man pushed to his limit—or by an external help.

No, this was something older, deeper, and purer.

An untainted wrath that had endured the long erosion of years, hatred preserved and sharpened as though time had been its friend. The phantom pain still gnawed at him, but now it was dulled beneath the roar of this old fire, reduced to a bearable level.

It was still excruciating, especially for others, but Rex’s high pain tolerance worked wonders.

His body straightened, steadied, as if the rage itself forced him back onto his feet.

Steam rolled off him in great waves, his molten eyes locking forward, burning with the gaze of an entity that had never forgiven, never forgotten. “About time you hand over the control. Like I said, your anger is not but a fraction compared to mine. No matter how much you wanted to deny it, you’ve grown too soft.”

Just then, Rex blinked again, and the crimson color of his eyes returned.

Shut up and get the task done. Kill the Faceless Reaper and every single phantom, and then deal with the rest of the voidal monsters. There are too many of them, and we can’t be side-tracked like this, so think of a way to guide them back to the horde. I rarely take you out, so don’t disappoint me.

As long as they were here, the nobles were forced to stall the White Mask.

Every second that passes is a big risk.

It would only be more dangerous for the nobles the longer this incident wasn’t handled.

Perhaps it was the exact reason why Rick was stationed here.

He was still one of the strongest among the knights.

Only the poison hindered him from reaching his full potential as he was both a knight and a royal guard.

Another blink, and the molten color came back.

“Do you think you’re in a position to make demands? What if I say no? What are you going to do?”

So that’s how it’s going to be? What do you want?

Hearing this, the Invincible Apparition smirked and spread his arms as if he were hugging the world.

“If you want me to help, you’re going to allow me to kill and eat everybody!”

That’s it? You can do that as long as you don’t do it openly.

“Really? Monsters, the reaper, and even the people…?”

Of course, not the people! I’m doing this to save them, and you wanted to eat them?

“In that case, no deal.”

Rex was stunned when he was given control once more, eyes wide open as if he couldn’t believe what had happened. Gritting his teeth, he looked down at his chest as if he was looking at himself, “Ask something more reasonable, can’t you?”

No, I want to kill and eat everybody!

“Just the bad ones and the wounded?”

Deal!

Once they came to an agreement, the Invincible Apparition took over and grinned.

He roared skyward, announcing to the world his glee.
