The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1615: Fixing Manners

Chapter 1615: Fixing Manners

Rex smiled to himself, tasting the sweetness of triumph nearing his grasp.

A slow smile crept across Rex’s lips.

It was such hard work, but he now tasted the intoxicating sweetness of triumph lingering on his tongue.

Just a bit more—his goals are dangerously close.

Obtaining the Phoenix Feather to save Nivellen, the Maw of Oblivion to repay his debt to the Demons, and also increases the aptitude of Devo and Amanir, so that they could help him in regulating his idling affinities that are still stuck at the peak of fifth rank.

40 days is not a long time.

Rex was worried that he couldn’t achieve his goals for coming here until his form expired.

Somehow, he managed to complete the hardest part.

Everything was falling into place, and victory no longer felt like a distant hope.

<Form Expiry Time: 17 Days.>

Rex checked the time limit, and he still has more than two weeks to finish his business in this realm.

Enough time to rescue Devo and complete the Blood Moon Echo. It’s going along well.

As long as I sealed this deal, I’m right on track.

In the message, Empress Morgana stated that she was willing to fulfil his three requests—as long as he brought the head of the traitor and also proof that he was conspiring against her. Rex would only need to bring those things to a designated place tomorrow.

Presumably, a place where he could meet with Empress Morgana directly.

Considering that this mission was tied directly to her livelihood as the Empress of the empire, Rex had a good feeling that she was going to accept his demands. At least, she’s going to grant him two out of the three items he requested.

Rex didn’t mind doing more for her to seal his last request.

But Empress Morgana stated that she’s going to grant all as long as he could provide what she needed.

I was planning on only stopping Haxel. But now… I’ll gladly kill him.

Just like what Amanir said to him, there’s no reason for him to be worried about the implications of the things he did in this realm since this is not his home. Regardless of what kind of standing Haxel has in the empire, he didn’t care.

Empress Morgana can deal with the aftermath.

All he needed to do was deliver the goods effectively.

“I assumed it’s good news?”

Ethan, too curious to stay silent, asked curiously.

Rex tilted his gaze back down and smiled a little.

“Something like that.”

“May I ask what the good news is? Is the princess pregnant?”

Rex cast him a surprised glance, not knowing how he ended up in that direction.

“No. Let’s just say that I’m glad Empress Morgana became the Empress.”

“You asked her for something in return?”

“Yes, and she’s going to grant all of them. Of course, assuming the mission went well.”

Not wasting more time idling, Rex strode forward toward his designated legion—one he hadn’t yet met due to the earlier incident. Though his gaze appeared fixed ahead, in truth, he was already scanning the Shop for anything he could purchase to help the legion be more effective.

On the other hand, Ethan looked at Rex’s back in contemplation.

He rubbed his chin, thinking.

“I never knew the Empress was like that. She’s known to be detached and cold, which is why many disliked her. Since when did she become generous?” Ethan looked at Rex ahead, finding him to be quite an interesting man. “He’s one of the few who liked her.”

Realizing that Rex was already far, Ethan snapped from his trance and ran after him.

Just as Rex expected, the legion under him was rowdy and didn’t get along well.

Most of them came from different places, so they didn’t have any unity that the other legions possessed.

Fortunately, Rex came prepared.

“We are going to be shadowing the nobles. Our task is to keep the Pawns and Knights on track with the White Mask, making sure they tailed right behind. Not one of them is allowed to break from the path. Not one.” Rex swept his gaze across the legion, his voice loud and authoritative. “I expected all of you to listen to my command as if it were God’s words.”

“You asking us to die, Sir?” One soldier barked and sneered. “We’re not items to make you look good.”

“Following the White Mask? It’s suicide!” Another spit to the side, scoffing.

“God don’t lead us to slaughter,” A third crossed his arms. “Why should we follow your lead?”

Another soldier scratched the back of his head, frustrated, “Damn it. I didn’t crawl out of one hellhole just to dive into another.”

As soon as Rex finished talking, the legion stirred—rough voices rising.

Considering that none of them knew who Rex was, this kind of response was quite appropriate.

Lesser than I anticipated.

Rex scanned the legion and realized that the ones who were resisting were fewer than he had anticipated.

He was expecting more than half or even all.

But instead, the number of complaining soldiers didn’t even reach half of the legion.

I have Gallick to thank. I should stop them here.

Swoosh!

A violent gush of life energy exploded from Rex’s body, strong enough to push back the legion.

All of them could feel the amount of heat that breezing life energy possessed, and also how dense it was to the point of being able to suffocate them. Most of them couldn’t even summon their Soul Artifacts even if they wanted to.

Rex’s life energy was too dense for them.

Silence enveloped the legion once again.

None of them dared to utter a single word as Rex’s crimson eyes looked at them with clear sharpness.

Everyone, except for one.

“Fucking bastard! Do you think you can scare us into submission?!”

A soldier broke formation, his steel boots pounding against the stone as he surged forward with a snarl.

In one fluid motion, he leapt high into the air, life energy erupting from his body in flares of raw light—taking shape mid-air, becoming a massive, double-headed battle axe, which was his Soul Artifact. Gasps broke out among the ranks.

Most of the soldiers were surprised to see one of them acting brazenly like this.

Summoning a Soul Artifact in front of a knight is a taboo—it was extremely offensive.

But the soldier didn’t care.

Clutching the shaft with both hands, he twisted mid-air, body rotating like a storm-driven wheel that gained power and momentum with each passing second. Finally, he brought the full force of the battle axe down toward Rex in a single, sweeping arc meant to cleave through bone and pride alike.

Boom!

A thunderous boom echoed upon impact, birthing a shockwave that rippled outward.

It sent nearby soldiers to the ground like leaves in a gale.

Dust billowed into the air, clouding the aftermath in a choking haze.

Everyone stared—stunned, breath held, eyes searching through the curtain of smoke.

Once the dust cleared, Rex emerged.

He was still standing. Unmoved. Unbreakable.

Although the two-headed battle axe had landed squarely on his left shoulder, it couldn’t pierce his flesh.

Not even a mark marred his skin.

Not a dent on his armor.

He hadn’t taken a single step, tanking the strike as if it was nothing.

On the other hand, the attacker stood frozen, hands still wrapped tightly around the weapon’s hilt.

Slowly, he raised his gaze as disbelief spread across his face.

He couldn’t believe it.

Regardless of their difference in strength, Rex hadn’t had the time to channel his life energy, which was a clear indication that he was caught off guard. Defenseless, he should at least be affected by that strike, but he didn’t.

Rex slowly turned his head toward him—calm, cold, utterly composed.

His eyes were unreadable, but the silence around him screamed louder than any rage.

<Sudden Ques: Manners!>

Description: Show the legion that the user is someone worth following! An Alpha must be able to lead and be respected wherever they go. Any kind of treatment unbefitting of an Alpha must be handled appropriately.

Black Goat: 0 / 1

Time Limit: 10 minutes.

Reward: 20% agility and 10% strength boost for the entire legion that will last throughout the mission.

Penalty: -20% agility and 10% strength on the user.

Rex looked at the sudden quest and then back to the soldier again.

He tilted his head slightly, as though studying a small insect clinging to his coat.

Even though he anticipated resistance, this was beyond his expectations.

Almost instantly, under the gaze, the soldier’s cocky and confident grin withered entirely.

Color drained from his face.

Ethan also experienced the same exact feeling as the soldier.

He was afraid of what Rex would do, which might pummel the legion’s chemistry even more.

Crack!

Strength suddenly disappeared from underneath him as the soldier realized that he was stumbling, losing control of his legs. As he blinked and looked down, his eyes widened in horror when he saw that his left leg was completely broken.

It bent inward on the knee, clearly caused by a powerful brunt force.

But he didn’t see what happened, only that his left leg was now broken.

“Raarghk!!”

A scream tore from his throat as he collapsed.

But before he hit the ground, a strong hand clamped around his helmet, halting his fall mid-descent.

Despite writhing in pain, the soldier looked up and realized that Rex was the one who caught him.

No emotion still on his face, only chilling coldness.

The steel helmet groaned under the pressure as the grip tightened, the fingers pressing—so hard they might as well have been crushing his skull directly. The soldier shrieked, thrashing in desperation, but he was utterly powerless to break free.

Rex stared at him for a few seconds longer before turning to face the legion again.

“Beg for his life.”

His command reverberated through the air, cutting into every soldier’s chest like ice.

No one moved. No one spoke.

The entire legion, hardened men and women who had faced death more than once, stood frozen—not in discipline, but in shock. Their mouths were slightly parted, but no words came out. None of them expected the situation to go this bad.

Clearly, one soldier’s act had turned the situation into a dangerous one.

Rex was going to reason with them earlier, but now, he has changed his mind.

All of them could see the change through Rex’s eyes.

On the side, Ethan wanted to say something, but found no words that would be appropriate.

Regardless of what happened, all he could do was watch from the sideline and hope for the best.

Krrk!

“RAAGHK!”

Just then, a visceral crack groaned through the air as Rex’s fingers clenched tighter around the soldier’s helmet. The scream that followed was agonized and raw, laced with terror. Metal whined. The soldier’s limbs flailed in blind panic.

Rex’s grip was so hard to the point that the soldier felt like his head was near explode.

A bit more and his head would pop like a watermelon.

“I said beg for his life.”

Once Rex’s voice rang again, the other soldiers snapped from their daze.

Reality snapped back into place as one of them quickly reacted.

“Please spare him, Sir! It was his fault but h—”

“His fault…?”

Rex looked at the soldier who spoke and raised a brow.

Clearing his throat, the soldier quickly corrected.

“It’s our fault, Sir. Show mercy. I’m sure that soldier had learned his lesson!”

Upon hearing this, Rex swept his gaze to the other soldiers.

Soon enough, the others began to beg as requested, asking him to show mercy to the poor soldier.

Only when the entire legion begged openly that Rex loosen his grip.

“Take him back to formation.”

Not even needing a second command, a few soldiers carried the groaning soldier back to formation.

Rex’s gaze steadied back to the legion.

“I’ve once been in your position, and respected all of you for what you’ve done. But seems like I was too hasty.” He said, eyes blazing peculiarly. “If one of you dared to attack a superior, then all of you must’ve had it good. Back then, in my superior’s eyes, my life was no more important than an insect’s…”

“And perhaps, that’s the right way of doing things.” He added with a dangerously low tone.
