Novel Full Chapter 1382 Supporting His Decision
Evelyn was the second longest person who had known Rex.
Only Adhara was above her in terms of spending time with Rex and it wasn’t by much.
During the time she spent with him—Rex had gone through multiple impossible situations.
He always came up on top no matter who he was up against.
Also, during those impossible situations, Evelyn has never seen him break much less wearing a face, such as this one. She could not help but feel nervous, her hands sweaty, the situation must be extremely bad for Rex to come to her like this.
“Is everything okay…?” She concernedly asked.
Upon hearing this, Rex paused for a second before he closed the door behind him lightly.
He sat beside Evelyn on the bed.
But even as he sat down and leaned forward with both elbows on his thighs, he did not say a single thing, keeping the silence so choking that Evelyn felt it was hard to breathe. Unable to withstand this any longer, she held his hand gently.
“If there’s something you need help with, tell me… I’ll definitely help you” She whispered.
Rex nodded his head, “I need your opinion on something,”
Albeit feeling unsure whether he should talk with Evelyn or anyone in that case about this, he decided to fill her in on what he was worried about. She told him about the trouble, regarding Nivellen that was tied to Devo as well as the Angels’ confrontation.
He spared nothing, stating the result if he goes through with this and fail.
As he explained this, he didn’t once turn to look at Evelyn.
“If I go through with this and fail, it will not just be me—it’ll be you, Adhara, Kyran, everyone… even the entire empire that suffers,” Rex admitted, with a heavy sigh, the sheer weight of the responsibility was far heavier now than when it had been just his own life at stake.
His voice softened—as he continued, “That is why I need your opinion. At least tell me, was I right to refuse Nivellen’s offer? Or was I being too hasty? I do not want to drag all of you into such a gamble”
Upon saying that, he waited for Evelyn to answer without even looking at her.
She must’ve been in shock to hear that everything could be destroyed on a whim.
Everything relies on this decision.
Either he succeeds in obtaining the Phoenix Feather from the Spirit Emperor thus completing the quest to heal Nivellen or accept Nivellen’s proposition at the cost of her divine life. It was either survival with pride at the cost of everything, or survival without pride with a guarantee of safety.
A minute passed in silence, Rex thought Evelyn was too stunned to speak.
But then, he was shocked when he suddenly heard a chuckle that turned into sweet laughter.
Rex turned to look at her and found her laughing humorously.
Her reaction didn’t match the gravity of the situation.
He thought she would be tense and troubled—but that does not seem to be the case, Evelyn was laughing loosely as if what he said wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. “I am being serious, Evelyn. Why are you laughing?”
“I’m sorry…” She apologized in between laughter. “I wasn’t expecting this at all”
Seeing that Rex was really serious, she tried to control her laughter.
Once she recovered, she made eye contact with Rex and reached her hand to his face.
She brushed his hair gently with her fingers.
“I think it’s way too late for you to think about dragging us into your mess,” She said, smiling brightly, without any concern. “From the moment we were turned into Werewolves, we have already resigned ourselves to your decision. We trusted your decision from the start”
Pulling away, she shrugged her shoulders, “Although I was turned involuntarily—because of that animal, I would’ve also agreed by that time if you wanted to turn me. So you’re right—if you feel refusing the offer was the right thing to do, then go with it. We’ll trust you”
“O- Oh…” Rex was at a loss for words. “I never thought of it like that”
Hearing this, Evelyn rolled her eyes.
He couldn’t deny that in most cases, the others had to trust him completely with their hearts.
Most of the time, Rex only informed his plan to those directly concerned with it.
Adhara had once been furious at him for keeping his plan a secret—but in order to make sure that the plan succeeded, he needed to keep its information as secret as possible. So it was a fact that the others had been trusting him since long ago.
“But…” Evelyn tapped her chin. “It’s good that you at least have the decency to inform me”
Rex let out a half-hearted chuckle, accompanied by a crooked smile.
It was clear that Evelyn was being sarcastic because of last night.
“Even so…” Rex shifted the topic—his face remained serious. “Are you sure the others think, the same as you? I get that you’ve trusted me in emergencies but this concerned their lives, the future that would await us if we fail would be grim”
In hindsight, Evelyn might’ve really understood what Rex meant by ‘grim’.
But truthfully, she doesn’t.
As of a moment ago, before meeting with Nivellen, there might be a chance of turning things around but not now—all because of Penalty Quest’s existence. If he failed to retrieve the last ingredient, he would die.
Rex’s death would mean the destruction of the entire empire.
Peace in Dargena City exists because of his existence.
His existence alone pressured a lot of forces.
In the scenario of his death, the high-rank Supernatural races would reclaim back power and attack the rebelling mid-rank Supernatural races. Elder Noskear would come and avenge her defeat against Rex—the Werewolves would be freed, and might want to dominate the capital city as it’s empowered by moonlight energy.
Vampires would also show some hostility as their connection broke with Rex’s death.
And since the subservient kingdoms would be attacked first, there would be no backup.
Not to mention one important factor.
Everyone would want to kidnap Calidora and have the baby inside of her.
Of course, the pack could still survive but at the cost of abandoning everything.
It would be indeed very grim.
Evelyn knew the possibility of his death but she didn’t know that failure meant his death was imminent. However, before she could answer—his question, the door, suddenly swung open, and several people stumbled inside.
Adhara and Gistella along with even Flunra stumbled inside, a guilty smile on their faces.
“What the…” Rex stood up, pointing at them. “Since when are you listening?!”
“N- Not long… we listened from the moment you said ‘I need your opinion on something'”
“I’m sorry, I couldn’t contain my curiosity…”
Both Adhara and Gistella smiled sheepishly, they sensed Rex’s unrest.
Since his mind was weighed down a lot, by the new problems, Rex was detached from the surroundings, he wasn’t attuned to his senses and forgot to cut off the connection binding them to him again.
As the Alpha, he could do that but he forgot.
Because of that, the others could sense the turmoil inside of him and came to check.
All of them got curious as to what made Rex feel such a way.
It wasn’t an everyday thing for them to be able to sense Rex’s unrest this clearly.
Normally, even before the problem and unrest came, Rex already severed the connection.
Upon hearing this, Rex massaged his forehead and sighed.
He then turned towards Flunra, “And you? It’s not normal for you to meddle like this”
“Ekhm…” Flunra cleared his throat. “I was seeing if I could be of any help”
“Of course, you are,” Rex sighed for the second time.
He couldn’t believe they were eavesdropping on his conversation—with Evelyn, he also could not believe that he forgot to sever their connection. It was rare for him to forget about this as most of the time, he wanted the others to not worry.
But then, Adhara stepped forward and grabbed his hand.
She looked at Rex in the eyes, her eyes glistening with trust and adoration.
“I also agree with Evelyn,” She said. “we trusted your decision and will stick to you no matter what”
Gistella also nodded, “Yes, we’ve gone through something like this before. It’s not new”
Of course, the problems they’ve gone through were a matter of life and death too.
But it was never something like this.
If Rex fails and dies in the process, there will be no fighting chance for them.
All of them would be hunted down without a doubt.
“I’m also the same,” Flunra added. “you have never failed us and this will be no different”
Finding that all of them were encouraging him, Rex shook his head.
“See…?” Evelyn raised an eyebrow teasingly, her lips curled into a confident smirk. “As I was about to tell you, earlier, they have absolute trust in you. Have more faith in us. All you need to do is inform us and we will help in whichever manner we can”
“In case you forgot, you have always come through when it comes to this” She added.
Upon hearing this, Rex paused for a second.
He always thought that he hadn’t done enough, that he needed to be doing more.

“You know… all of you are insane to gamble on me with your lives” Rex commented.
All of them are too trusting of him.
Naturally, this comment rubbed the others in the wrong way.
“Said the guy who saved a God, attacked a God, and blackmailed a God” Evelyn commented.
“Said the guy who hated Supernaturals but fucked and has a kid with one” Adhara added.
“Said someone who got off with pain and stabbed himself to motivate himself” Gistella said.
Rex’s expression twitched, he was only saying but the others attacked him ruthlessly.
He wanted to rebuke—each one of their claims—but he could not muster any words since anything he did would be considered insane by anyone. Even then, there was a reason for everything he did.
Naturally, it was hard to justify Gistella’s claim but that was about it.
“Said someone wh-” Finding that the three already shot their, Flunra wanted to shoot his but was only met with a glare from Rex. All of the words he formed inside his mind, were stuck in his throat, he could only avert his gaze and scratched the back of his head.
“Anyway, we can go through this,” Evelyn averted the topic back.
Upon hearing this, Adhara nodded, “Besides, had you accepted the offer because you were scared of failing, I would’ve lost respect for you. She did save you multiple times, so it’s only right for us to repay for what she did”
Finding the others were supporting him fully, Rex smiled inside.
He felt like he was making the wrong choice but the others proved him absolutely wrong.
“Thank you” Rex finally said, giving a firm nod to them.
Moments later.
Now that the decision was round, that he would attempt to save Nivellen instead of going back to the Banished Realm to take her offer, he told the others that he would need to be able to depart in four days.
Before he departed, he needed to clear all the things he needed to do.
He told the others what the things he needed to do were, but Evelyn asked him to spare time to deal with a problem now that he was in the castle. Rex and Evelyn walked side by side and all the guards inside greeted them as they passed.
Knowing that Rex is inside the castle, the guards have their backs straight and unmoving.
Every single guard stood with their back arched like an arrow.
Both were heading to the underground chamber—the place used by the Witch before.
“So the third Angels is already captured?”
“Yes, and he wanted us to escort him to the Symposium of Upper Divinities”
“Hmm? Why there?”
“You’ll know once you talk with him”
