Chapter 1217: Bearer of Secrets
Gistella arrived at the castle and went ahead to chain Delta near the front entrance.
She lifted—and turned her head towards the slowly opening gate of the castle, and frowned when she couldn’t sense anyone inside, other than Ryze. Considering the problems outside, Evelyn and Adhara should’ve been handling the matters.
But none of the two were around, and Rex was left to deal with things alone.
“Kyran said Evelyn left for the Dark Elf Kingdom, but what about Adhara?” She mused lightly.
If anything, as the female Alpha, she should’ve handled the matters when Rex was gone.
Not idling at the front, she went straight inside and searched for Ryze.
“Have you seen Adhara?” She asked, she was now inside Ryze’s chamber which was warm.
It felt like being inside a recently used oven.
From the looks of it, the warmth came from Ryze’s body, he was making steady progress.
Upon hearing this—Ryze shook his head, “No, I have been training all this time, and was not even in a conscious state until you knocked on my door. I haven’t left my room either so I’ve no clue as to where she had gone to”
“I’m sorry to have disturbed you then,” Gistella apologized, giving Ryze a warm smile.
Ryze didn’t mind the intrusion, “No, it’s all fine for me”
Not wanting Ryze to feel like she only talked with him if she needed something from him, she scanned his room, and asked, “Have Rex guided you in your training? Since you are a Human once, how do you know the method the Dragonman race uses to get stronger?”
At this question, Ryze stuttered and scratched the back of his head with a guilty smile.
But he remained silent, not knowing how to answer the question.
“Right…” Gistella sighed with a wry smile. “I guess you won’t tell to someone like me”
Not expecting Gistella to put herself down like that, Ryze, quickly waved his hands—fearing that she would misunderstand, “It’s not anything like that—and what do you mean someone like you? You’re awesome!”
“I’m awesome? I’m merely a Beta who is good enough to not be a burden” She answered.
Seeing that her confidence was at rock bottom—Ryze shook his head again—and continued, “Merely a Beta? I heard what you did, I know that you are the one Rex trusted to infiltrate the Fifthborn, and you succeeded. Out of everyone aside, from Rex—you contribute the most, to the great battle!”
Upon hearing the unexpected answer, Gistella’s eyes widened.
If she goes with Ryze’s point of view, she did help a lot to wear the Fifthborn down.
Feeling slightly elevated, Gistella rubbed Ryze’s head, “I appreciate your words, you also did a great job on the battlefield—I saw you leading the reinforcement forces at the very front. I am sure Rex considers you higher because of that,”
Ryze accepted the praise gratefully, he really needed those words.
Even though he wanted Rex to say those words the most, coming from Gistella is not bad.
In fact, it felt way better than he expected which was quite nice.
He knew that Rex was not the kind of person with words, so this was a nice substitute.
“It is not that I can’t tell you,” Ryze continued—elaborating on why he can’t answer Gistella’s question. “It’s because I don’t want Rex to know. You are close to Rex—I don’t know if telling you is the right thing”
Upon hearing this, Gistella leaned a bit closer and asked, “You don’t want Rex to know?”
As he contemplated, he was surprised to see Gistella closer than before.
“I can keep secrets,” She added, staring directly into Ryze’s eyes. “I can keep your secrets”
Ryze was completely stunned—his eyes got drawn by the silvery strands of her hair, falling like a waterfall. Her cherry lips slightly parted, after saying the word ‘secrets’—and also her curiosity-filled sapphire eyes—brilliant, and mesmerizing, making it easy to get lost, in their depths.
Not to mention, her natural scent overflowing with pheromones was filling his nose.
It was hard for Ryze to think in this circumstance.
Feeling his face becoming warmer, Ryze blushed as he turned to gaze elsewhere.
“I- I kept in contact with Elder Rancaladra,” He eventually said.
Not having the will to keep it a secret, from Gistella—especially with the situation, Ryze could not help, but spill the beans. Keeping his secret, a secret—with Gistella being like this is quite impossible to do for him.
Unlike the elegant Evelyn or the energetic Adhara, Gistella adopted an approachable air.
Despite both of their standings, she seemed more open to possibilities.
Gistella had her eyes slightly widened before she pulled back, “Oh, that. Don’t worry, as long as you get stronger, it’s not going to be a problem. The Dragonman race has little population, use it to your advantage against Elder Rancaladra, okay?”
“Y-Yes…” Ryze nodded, keeping that advice in mind.
“Now go back to your training, I’ll not disturb you further,” Gistella said—excusing herself and closing the door again. Her smile broadened as soon as the door closed, “I thought Ryze was keeping something bad, but that is not too bad. It’s fine to keep that a secret from Rex—but I don’t want to, I’ll tell Rex about this and tell him to keep him knowing a secret from Ryze”
Regardless of Ryze’s growth, he was still a kid.
Compared to Kyran who had matured fully, Ryze was still far from maturing fully like him.
Due to that, there are still things he hasn’t experienced yet.
‘I got King John to confess things using this method, maybe I’m talented in this,’ She mused.
Just then, however, the smile on her face turned into a gloomy expression.
“I’m the one Rex trusts?” She muttered in self-pity. “Maybe before, but now I don’t think so…”
Not lamenting in that thought for long, she walked away.
In addition to Adhara’s absence, Gistella also realized that Calidora was not in the castle too.
She thought that Calidora’s aura was becoming lighter, due to her pregnancy, but that wasn’t the case. “Where are both of them? No matter where they go, they must have been together, they may have something to do together”
Despite not knowing why, Gistella decided to tell Rex about this.
But then, upon reaching the throne room to leave the castle, Gistella was met with Naela.
She came from the other side, the direction of her chamber.
“Oh, Lady Gistella, you’re back?” Naela approached with a glint of excitement in her eyes.
“I told you to not use formalities,” Gistella replied, but then she eventually nodded, “Yes, I got back about fifteen minutes ago. Did you see Adhara—and Calidora? It seemed both of them, went somewhere without telling”
Naela expressed that she also didn’t know where they went.
Just like Kyran, it hadn’t been that long since they arrived back from the Dark Elf Kingdom.
Sighing heavily, Gistella headed outside but Naela suddenly stopped her.
“Gistella…” She called with a slight hesitation in her tone.
Upon hearing this, Gistella turned and questioned, “Do you have something to tell me?”
“Uh… No, it’s not something important or anything,” She replied, stutteringly.
On the other hand, Gistella could see the exact opposite, ‘Everyone is telling me their secrets today, I don’t know if this is a good thing, or not. But then again—I can keep them all in check for Rex’
“Really? It seemed to be important to you” Gistella said.

Seeing Naela was still hesitating, she added, “What is it? Tell me, and I’ll help you,”
“I was wondering if you know anything, that the Emperor might find valuable, as a gift,” Naela decided to speak her mind. “A noble from my kingdom did something very bad, I am sure you are aware of it and I was wondering if there’s anything valuable the Emperor wants”
Gistella nodded inwardly, she didn’t know what to expect coming from Naela’s mouth.
But turns out it was for the Dark Elf Kingdom.
Pondering for a moment, Gistella then realized something, ‘Rex needs help, and this will help’
Deciding on what to do Gistella looked around to make sure Ryze was not out of his chamber before he pulled Naela to the side. “I know something that Rex is searching for,” Gistella said, pretending to hesitate.
“What is it? I will do anything in exchange if you tell me what it is” Naela persuaded further.
Eventually, Gistella answered, “Actually, there are two items, if your Kingdom wants to give a worthy gift so that your kingdom has a higher chance of being pardoned fully by Rex. One is an item called Divine Chalice, while the other is a Phoenix’s feather”
“Divine Chalice… Phoenix’s Feather…” Naela recounted, branding it in her mind.
Soon, a smile blossomed on her face as she held Gistella’s hands, “I really appreciate this!”
“It’s something Rex wanted—so it’s better if more people are in search of this item. Rex is not a man that likes asking for favors, so I’m going to do it in his stead,” Gistella replied—nodding her head. “Good luck! Anything Rex is about to do or wants is always a timely matter—so you have to find it soon”
Meanwhile, unaware of Gistella’s ploy, Rex walked through the street in silence.
Striding in front of Rex was Linthia who was the representative captain.
People instantly recognized him and paid their respect to him.
Glancing at the side, he found that some of them were pressing their heads on the ground.
One that stood out in particular was a blonde-haired man around Rex’s age.
Instead of bowing—he was prostrating, and was pressing his forehead very hard against the ground and it looked like his forehead was bleeding because of it. He’s a normal Human, and it looked very painful.
Striding in front of Rex was Linthia who was the representative captain.
Not minding the blonde-haired man, Rex with Kyran on his side headed to a glistening light.
It came from a couple of blocks away from the town hall.
Since he was going to search for undeveloped land to build, the Force Ethos Academy—Rex decided to check, the Vortex Pit of Elements first. However—along the way, he stopped at a junction and cast his gaze to the right.
“Linthia, have the entire city been developed?” Rex suddenly asked.
Upon hearing this, Linthia looked at where Rex was looking and replied, “No, not yet, no”
“As far as I am concerned—the south sector was still underdeveloped compared to the other sectors. All the buildings there are focused on education, so we haven’t thought of managing the south sector” She continued.
Rex nodded before he pointed to the right, “That way is the south sector’s direction, right?”
Despite not knowing where this was going, Linthia nodded her head.
“If that’s the case, how come there are many people going there?” Rex added suspiciously.
Not even waiting for Linthia to answer, knowing that she had no answer to his question—Rex took a detour and went to the south sector. As the three of them headed there—Linthia said, “Prof. K’s lab was stationed there, but these people are not supposed to go to the lab”
Soon enough, the three reached a small warehouse stationed behind the academy building.
Most of the people that were there bowed at Rex before quickly leaving.
As they were leaving, they were also hiding their faces.
It almost felt like they didn’t want to be caught going to this place, which was rather weird.
“Hmm…?” Rex raised an eyebrow when he stepped in front of the warehouse’s entrance.
Sensing what Rex sensed, Kyran also activated his power.
Both of them sensed demonic energy, so there must be a Demon inside.
Considering that the Demons are still a hostile force, they instantly thought of an infiltrator.
No, that can’t be, an infiltrator might not alert the System—but any malicious intent would be sensed. But if it’s not an infiltrator sent by the Demon race, then who is it? Seeing the people coming here willingly without me sensing the Demon’s influence, it must be a strong one.
On the other hand, Linthia was becoming nervous seeing them both becoming alert.
“Open the gate, Linthia,” Rex commanded with a low baritone voice.
Upon hearing this, Linthia nodded her head and grabbed the crack of the entrance before in a forceful pull, she opened the warehouse’s entrance. But the scene, that they saw was way beyond their imagination.
“What the heck…? How did you get here?!” Rex exclaimed, surprised by the sight.
