It came and happened unexpectedly.

Rex was about to bring the woman back as carrying her back is nothing for him—but he was caught in surprise when the woman suddenly coated her hand with an intense level of mana, and thrust it toward him.

He could see her attack in slow motion.

Compared to her speed, his perception is too strong for her to even hope to strike him.

Even though Rex was exhausted with his breaths coming out in rigid pants—the devastating difference between him and the woman was still too far for her to even capitalize on his own current condition.

Due to that very reason, Rex didn’t even bother to dodge her attack.

Not only was it too slow, but it was also too weak to scratch him.

Just as the woman’s hand landed on its mark—Rex could feel a light pinching sensation, that came as an utter shock for him. H reached out to his cheek and found that he was cut, albeit it was a small cut.

A trickle of blood could be seen drizzling down his cheek, all the way to his chin.

“What in the world…?” Rex mused, completely confused.

He looked back at the woman with shock clearly plastered on his face.

Even though it was brief—Rex sensed that there was a foreign energy, that didn’t match the woman’s mana. She obviously used something to enhance her strike. However, the situation felt surreal for Rex.

She is an Awakened, and she also recognizes him as the Emperor.

From those facts alone, she must be from Dargena City, his very own city.

So to think that the woman dared to attack him was inconceivable—nobody in Dargena City dared to do something like that as he was the ruling Emperor who created this paradise and especially because of his strength.

But this woman, with the bravery that came out of thin air dared to strike him.

Locked in the moment, Rex snapped out of his trance.

He sensed more figures approaching and unlike the woman—these figures had the scent of those he recalled. It was Adhara and Flunra—who came rushing when they realized that the fight had already ended.

At the very front was Adhara, and she tilted her head when she neared them.

She noticed that there was a woman in Rex’s arms, and there was also blood on his cheek.

“Rex? What happened? Who is that?” She asked in confusion.

Knowing that Kyran already told Gelmar—and Dindora to bring the guards back—Adhara was confused, as to where this woman came from. However, when she saw that there was a drop of blood on the woman’s fingers, and it reeks of Rex’s scent, she became even more puzzled.

Just like Rex, she couldn’t believe that the woman tried to attack him.

Instead of answering Adhara, Rex focused back on the woman.

“Do you realize what you have done?” He asked, squinting his eyes—staring at the woman.

Upon hearing this the woman seemed to refocus back to reality before she looked at Rex and her hand back and forth making sense of the situation, “I… I don’t know,” She mused in a light hazy tone.

But then, the situation dawned on her as she quickly went to prostrate on the ground.

“F- Forgive me, I don’t know what’s gotten into me!” She exclaimed.

Seeing her reaction, Rex’s frown deepened—the situation was quite random for him.

He also felt uncertain as to what the woman was thinking to do something like that to him.

Not to mention, it seemed like she didn’t realize that she did that until she already did that.

“Tell me your name,” Rex eventually asked with a commanding tone.

Pressing her forehead harder into the hard ground, the woman quickly answered.

“Jessica”

“How did you get here, Jessica? Aren’t you from the city?”

Jessica paused for a second as she was hyperventilating, receiving a hard panic attack when her mind clicked with the fact that she just attacked Rex, the Emperor and also the strongest being, in the whole world, “I… I am a part of the assembled scouting team, to recruit the Feral Phantomclaw Pack, and also Agatha,”

Upon hearing this, Rex’s brows furrowed, he thought Jessica came from the city.

“In that case, why are you here? And where are the others?” He asked.

Listening to their conversation—Adhara tugged his arm, “I didn’t know you assembled a team for anything, when did you do it? Who is the Feral Phantomclaw Pack? And who is Agatha? Is Agatha a she or a he?”

“I told Gelmar to assemble it a couple of days before the coronation,” Rex replied.

He decided to be truthful regarding this matter.

Knowing that he now had created a sanctuary for both Supernaturals and Humans, he wants to recruit Ruston’s pack, and also the king young Werewolf—Agatha who would be a great fit for being inhabitants of Dargena City.

Regardless of his past hatred for Ruston, he needs to move on and be better.

One of the things he could do was to take Ruston’s pack—and Agahta into his wings.

It was Agahta who opened his eyes to the side of Supernaturals that he had never seen.

Agatha showed him that there are good Supernaturals out there.

Now that he thought about the matter, he remembered that it was starting that day that his change begun. He could see a glimpse of the Supernaturals’ good side, living beings that is doing as they were supposed to—surviving.

It was only the war that made everyone ruthless and cruel, but some are not like that.

Some are not supposed to end up that way, and he needs to accept that.

Moreover, Rex still remembers Ruston saying that Adhara dreamed of a peaceful world.

A world without war.

It was Ruston’s last words, and frankly speaking, they were still loud in his ears even now.

Since Rex created a glimpse of that world, he thought that he would show Agatha.

“Feral Phantomclaw Pack is Ruston’s pack, and Agatha is a she—and you don’t have to worry about her as she’s a young Werewolf. I believe for a Werewolf, she’s much younger than even Kyran or Ryze is to us” Rex answered, assuring Adhara that there’s nothing for her to worry.

Upon hearing this, Adhara nodded her head in understanding.

Even though the two of them made up last night, Rex was still treading on eggshells.

Best for him not to have anything to do with more women right now.

After saying that, Rex turned back to Jessica again, “So? Your answer?”

“Forgive me—Your Imperial Majesty, I can’t remember anything” Jessica replied, frowning as she prostrated on the ground—trying to recall anything at all. “I was treading with the group and entering the Werewolf’s territory, but the next thing I know—I was already here meeting with you”

Rex tilted his head, troubled. Is she mind-controlled? It’s a possibility.

Just as he thought of that, Flunra suddenly stepped forward and inspected Jessica.

From his face, it seemed he was suspicious of something.

Something that he realized after observing Jessica’s response silently from the back.

He knelt beside Jessica, and told her to look into his eyes before he began inspecting her, he even turned her face left and right as if he was searching for something. Eventually—after he found nothing, Flunra channeled his moonlight energy.

One could see the moonlight energy slithering to his index fingertip.

Soon, when his index fingertip glowed, Flunra tapped her forehead with it lightly. seaʀᴄh thё NovelFull.net* website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Swish!

Rex and Adhara observed in confusion and interest, wanting to know what Flunra was doing.

But then, as soon as that happened, Jessica’s eyes turned yellowish.

Her body eased into a state of complete relaxation, resembling a trance-like state where she seemed receptive to anything Flunra commanded. Seeing this, Rex raised an eyebrow, “What is going on with her? What are you doing to her?”

Sighing to himself, Flunra stood up and shook his head, “As expected, she’s dominated”

“Dominated? In what sense?” Adhara added, finding this whole ordead weird.

Flunra kept his gaze on Jessica as he explained, “A Werewolf dominated her mind completely—which is why her memories are hazy—and she dared to attack you. If she is not dominated, she wouldn’t even think of doing that. But since she’s dominated, she couldn’t help herself,”

“Seems like the one who dominated her told her to go back and attack you,” He added.

Adhara scoffed in response, “Is that Werewolf dumb? Jessica is too weak to even hurt Rex”

“Don’t underestimate the enemies, Adhara,” Rex intervened—taking a closer look at Jessica. “If the stupidity is too obvious, then there’s a high chance that it is not as straightforward as it seems. Maybe sending Jessica to attack me is for a different purpose as to kill me,”

“She tried to kill you, what could that possibly mean other than killing you?” Adhara rebutted.

She was still confused.

On the other hand, Rex’s eyes flickered at a thought, “It must be to send me a message”

“A message? Hmm… that might be true” Flunra agreed.

Even though he could tell that Jessica—was dominated—he did not know what the Werewolf that did this, wanted. If the Werewolf wanted to send a message—Flunra couldn’t even begin to guess what the message was.

“Is the Werewolf sending a message that it wanted to kill you?” Adhara said, contemplating.

Rex squinted his eyes, unsure, “Maybe, I don’t really know…”

Crack!

Just as he said that, the ground shook again, forcing them to grab ahold of the trees around,

It lasted for only a few seconds.

“Must be the Second Breath still, it’s fine,” Flunra assured.

But as he said that—Rex’s body froze as his mind clicked with something—a realization that surfaced thanks to the light earthquake seconds ago, “Wait, the Second Breath is still going but I assume nothing more changed around our area, right?”

“I think our territory has finished changing,” Flunra replied with high conviction.

But he was confused as to why Rex looked alert.

Not even explaining himself—Rex, instantly turned into his Werewolf form, and dashed to the side, heading in the direction where Jessica came from earlier. If our territory had finished its transformation, then how could Jessica be able to reach us when there’s a cloud of mist that surrounded the Humming Damned Forest?!

Rex moved his legs faster as he headed to the edge of the Humming Damned Forest.

His eyes are darting left and right in alert, searching for something or someone.

If the forest itself hosted a powerful entity such as the Werepanther from before, then there’s no doubt that the mist, also hosted powerful entities. Even if the mist is empty, Jessica—who was supposed to be coming from the Werewolf territory managed to go through the forest.

She is not that powerful, she shouldn’t reached him safely.

Luck might be on her side, but it’s way safer to belive the other way around.

Jessica must not reach here by herself—she was brought here by someone—and that entity must be the Werewolf who dominated her. Rex was not going to let that Werewolf go, he will asked whoever it was what it wanted.

Swoosh!

Piercing through the forest, Rex frowned as he hadn’t reached the edge yet.

He saw the view from the top of the city walls, that the Humming Damned Forest had gotten way bigger than before, but going through it directly made him realize how much it had grew—On top of that, going through the forest become even harder.

Hiss!!

Roar!!

Rex dashed forward and twisted his torso as he saw three mutated animals attacking him.

Since the Humming Damned Forest had the effect of making the mutated animals inside of it insane and attacking anything that moves regardless of how strong, Rex was being attacked as he tried to reach the edge of the forest.

He rolled through the ground and looked back, seeing two mutated snakes and a bat.

“All of you got extremely stronger, huh…?” Rex mused in ridicule.

Amongst the three mutated animals—two of them were in the early ninth-rank realm, which was scary to think about. None of the forest’s inhabitants had that kind of power before the Second Breath, but now, there were a lot of them.

Not stopping at that, Rex darted his eyes to the right.

He saw that there were more mutated animals coming straight at him, ignoring his aura.

“Hey… Hey, now…” Rex straightened his back and smirked at them—seeing that the mutated animals—were increasing in numbers. “Aren’t you guys working together too much? Why are you all aiming at me instead of making this an all-out brawl?”
