Chapter 1155: Dominated (1)
A couple of days ago, the Scarlet Banes Kingdom’s territory.
Several people could be seen sprinting through the space with immense alert in their eyes.
Judging from the distinct aura, emanating from each figure—that was concentrated on their legs and providing them with a boost of speed, these individuals were high-rank Awakened, and amongst them, two are Elves.
It was rare to see Humans and Supernaturals together, or anywhere near each other.
Much less being in a solitary group, this was a weird sight to see.
But because of that, anyone who saw them could easily decipher where this group was from.
Upon entering the Blacbark Glen—a once thriving forest teeming with life that was now only a haunting painting of charred remnants and eerie silence, the group began sprinting, aware that they were not stepping into the upright wolves’ grounds.
Planning their course beforehand, the group makes a maneuver so that their trip is safer.
Instead of going directly into this realm—the group went through the Vampire’s territory first.
A much safer choice compared to this territory.
But as their destination lies within the Werewolf’s territory—eventually, they need to step into their grounds and dive deep into their protected den. Naturally—the group came prepared as they poured some sort of oil across their armor before continuing on their journey.
A set of vials that were specifically given to them for this mission.
Knowing that Werewolves are extremely keen on smell, this oil is mandatory for them.
Not having this would be asking to be caught by the Werewolves.
Swoosh!
Motivated by unease, the group sprinted even faster.
Each space they passed was only decorated with the gnarled remains of towering trees.
Not to mention, every step they took against the damp earth felt heavy with the weight of feral ferocity that clings to the soles of the weary travelers—the lingering shadows on the corners also gave the impression that they were being watched closely.
All of them are no amateurs, they know what the Werewolves are capable of.
Moreover, the Emepror’s display of killing the Fifthborn is also a complimentary factor.
It was the full potential of Werewolves on full display.
Because of that display of power, going into this realm became even scarier.
Additionally, the silence of the Werewolves, even after the battle against the Fifthborn makes fear of the uncertainty within their hearts stronger. As far as they were concerned—hatred or anger was present amongst the Werewolves for Rex’s triumph.
And now, the group was sprinting towards these angered wolves directly.
Upon seeing a vast glade coming into their vision, the group gradually slows their sprints.
Scanning the glade, they couldn’t see the end of it.
It stretches along to both sides with no other way across aside from crossing this glade.
Even as the group sprinted on the edge to see where it would end—there was no end to this glade. Because of that—an Awakened clicked on her smartwatch, and summoned some sort of holographic map.
And true enough, the glade had no ending until they reached back to the Vampire territory.
Maybe a slicing strike from the sky from a very high-rank entity caused this weird change of terrain, but the fact is, there’s no war around the glade. Crossing the glade would take them two to three minutes.
It would be quick, but it also provides a Werewolf time to intercept them.
Due to their telepathy abilities, if one Werewolf found them, more would come to attack.
“I don’t like this—the glade would make my camouflage spell useless as there will be no trees around until we reach the other side. Let’s make a detour again—there might be unseen eyes around here that we definitely don’t want to be caught by,”
“A detour? We’ll be sacrificing three days if we do that”
“Yes, we can’t leap over the valley, and the bridge is at the end of this place,”
“Which one is better, taking a detour or losing our lives? Pick one”
After a brief argument between the Elf who cast the spell to mask their presence—who was also the leader of the ground, and the other Awakened—the group eventually settled on the second option, making a detour even though it would make their journey longer.
Going straight ahead would make them reach their destination in two or three days.
But if they took a detour, it would take six to even a week.
Even then, the decision has been settled, and the group decided to take a detour.
Sprinting for another half an hour along the glade, heading to the other side, the group made an abrupt stop when the ground beneath them began to shake. All of them were instantly on an alert, fearing that a Werewolf sentry might’ve caught them.
However, contrary to their expectations, it was not an attack. Get more chapters on m v l e mpyr
Crack!
Just then, the Elven leader saw the ground a hundred meters to their front cracked.
Continuing its destructive path, the crack, became longer in an instant, driven by the turmoil and upheaval at the earth’s core—forcing them to jump to avoid the crack and get devoured by the earth itself, plunging into its crust.
Fortunately for them, that crack was the only crack that happened.
And also, the earthquake stopped after a few minutes.
“Everyone okay?” the Elven leader asked, inspecting the others to see how they were doing.
But then, his brows furrowed when he found that their number was reduced by one.
Grabbing the Awakened to his side, a woman with her long brown hair tied into a twin tail, he asks in concern, “Jessica, where’s your brother?”
“My brother?” the Awakened, Jessica frowned.
But as she looked to the side, she realized that her brother who was supposed to be beside her was gone. “Nigel!” She shouted in panic, reaching for an answer, and locate her brother. “Where the fuck are you?!”
Upon realizing something, Jessica ran to the crack’s edge to see if Nigel fell into it.
As she was about to shout again, her mouth was covered by the Elven leader.
“Stop shouting, are you stupid? Did you forget where we are right now?!” He asked angrily.
Despite the situation—she should be conscious enough, not to jeopardize, the group’s safety by panicking. However—as he did that, the Elven leader widened his eyes. He could feel that something was wrong and looked over his shoulder.
Only then that he find the entire group was gone, only he and Jessica remained.
In an instant, he rose to his feet, bow drawn, a bead of sweat, tracing its path down his tense visage. Thoughts raced through his mind, ‘My spell remains active. It’s my one and only Great Nature Spell. It camouflaged our forms—erased our noise, and erased our scent. How did we get caught…? Any Werewolves, even those who are higher-ranked than me would not be able to catch us.
Even when Jessica shouted earlier—her voice shouldn’t have pierced my spell. It was only me being paranoid,’
Pinching the string of his bow, the Elven leader assessed his situation critically.
He was thinking of ways on how their location could be exposed.
But it was then that his eyes widened in realization, as a possibility crossed his mind, ‘Unless this Werewolf, sensed us through other means… Shit!’ Recognizing the worst possibility—the Elven leader quickly turned to bring Jessica out of this place, “We have to run! It’s an Elder!”
Splash!
“Hargghk!”
Just as he shouted that the Elven leader felt his body froze on the spot.
On the other hand, Jessica had both of her eyes widened entirely.
Gasping, the Elven leader hacked up a torrent of blood before he slowly looked down, only to find that his chest, was rent open. A hand protruded out—clutching his own beating heart. At the sight of his own heart, with fading strength, he cast one final glance at Jessica.
His eyes pleaded, but his body slackened as he crumpled to the ground in a lifeless heap.
Bearing witness to this, Jessia had her lips trembling in utter fear.
Looming behind the Elven leader, stood a figure of chilling monstrosity—dangerous beyond measure. Even then—Jessica discerned a twisted grace—an unsettling elegance that set it apart from any other Werewolf she had encountered.
A daunting smile plays on its lips as the figure sniffs in the rich scent of the beating heart.
Its iron blood scent seemed to smell like roses to the figure.
“Please, satisfy my curiosity,” the figure said, its dulcet voice was light and persuading.
Surely, this figure is a female Werewolf.
Upon hearing this, Jessica quickly nodded her head repeatedly, her entire body was shaking but her eyes—couldn’t shake away from looking at the beating heart. Seeing this—the figure smiled, “Tell me, where are you from, Human?”
“W- What do you mean? Where else could a Human, like me ca-“
Just before Jessica could finish her sentence, the figure blurred.
Following that, she appeared directly in front of Jessica’s face, and at that same moment, her breath halted. Not even needing to look down, she could tell that the figure’s other hand, had already torn through her chest.
Her heart was being gripped directly, and the coldness from the claws stings her heart.
“I don’t want you lying, so please, answer truthfully,” the figure whispered.
Gulping harshly, Jessica replied meekly, “D- Dargena City,”
Driven by a relentless demand for truth—unsatisfied with the answer the figure’s grip on her heart tightened, sending a jolt of pain through Jessica’s body. Biting her lips, she forced out words with desperate urgency, “Clarentium Empire! Clarentium Empire! I’m from there—I am from the newly established empire!”
Upon hearing this, the figure smiled again, this time wider.
“I wonder…” the figure whispered—sending a shiver down Jessica’s spine as she leaned in—locking eyes with an intensity that made Jessica’s heart race, “Is your Emperor a vegetarian, or perhaps not?”
Caught off guard, Jessica stammered, “I… I’m not sure,”
Her words were cut short, as the grip around her heart tightened, inhibiting her heart’s ability to pump blood properly. “Yes! Yes! I don’t really… really know, but the Emperor is once human so he must like to eat human food, not raw food”
“Good, very good…” the figure nodded and pulled out her hand with a squelching sound.
Sadistically, with a hint of twisted elegance—the figure puts the heart in her hand slowly into her mouth and bites down to it. Blood spurts, spraying all over the space in her mouth, which seemed to be a delight to her, “As expected, he’s not a real Werewolf. At least, not yet…”
Pausing for a moment, the figure then grabbed Jessica’s hand gently.
She pulled Jessica’s hand gently and guided it to her lips, where she delicately—even almost sensually grazed it with her teeth before biting it deeply. She stayed still—for a brief moment before making eye contact with Jessica again with fiery intensity.
Swish!
Upon seeing her animalistic eyes, Jessica was surprised to see them flash brightly.
It blinded them for a few seconds.
Following that, her senses became hazy and she felt like sleeping.
“Go back to your empire,” the figure instructed. “Greet the Emperor for me…”
…
Meanwhile, back to the Humming Damned Forest.
Boom!
Crash!!
Despite the evolution that all mutated animals experienced with the first dawn of the Second Breath—a lot of them ran as a fierce battle was happening in a small part of the forest. A pair of powerful entities were brawling destructively, knocking towering trees over.
But upon closer inspection, it became clear that one of them was running instead of fighting.
On the other hand, the pursuer was not going to let the other entity run.
Giving no bearing to the other mutated animals, the two play a rough cat-and-mouse game.
Naturally, these two are Rex and the Werepanther.
Consumed by the persona of the Blood Moon hunter—Rex was not going to let this mutated animal go even if he had to chase it to the end of the world. He was president and thrilled, it was the only thing he had in mind to hunt the mutated animal.
However, half a mile away from their position was a figure.
Unlike the mutated animals, that ran in the other direction—this figure is walking towards Rex and the mutated animal. She seemed to be lost and she also looked hurt. Even then she kept moving to the battle.
