Chapter 1116: Hail to the Victor!
“Go on and apologize… Apologize for existing in my era”
<Time until complete erasure: 15 seconds>
Rex ignored the notification and looked down on the Executor with an icy cold expression.
He already pulled his foot away, now standing dauntingly with an upright back.
Poised on his right hand is the Blood Devourer—gleaming a contrasting crimson color against the white backdrop of the place. His shoulders were spread wide, unflinching at the immense power pressing down on him from above.
Gazing at Rex from a low-vantage point and through teary vision, the Executor’s wavered.
‘So this is what he meant…’ He pondered silently inside his mind.
At this breaking point, the Executor now understands what Rex meant by earned strength.
Even though their realms being relatively equal during this time of the First Breath, sitting on roughly the same platform of power—there exists a vast difference in terms of mentality and willpower that separates him and Rex.
It all came down to the fact that he was birthed with power.
He bypassed the struggle necessary to wield his level of power, and that made him lose.
Rex had shown that throughout this decisive battle.
Despite the mental aspect leaning heavily against him—as he was fighting the Executor, who had defeated him before, and also feared in ancient times, he had never collapsed under the immense pressure bearing down upon him.
On the contrary, Rex excels under pressure, adapting to the rapid changes of the battle.
Meanwhile, the Executor was the complete opposite.
As the battle increasingly went against his plan, he also became increasingly desperate.
Rather than keeping a calm mind and adapting, he became strained instead.
Now that he grasped the significance—of what Rex meant by saying that he was inadequate to talk about power, the irony of seeing Rex standing resolute under the white beam while he lay prone on the ground struck him profoundly.
It depicted the reality clearly.
Even the world was showing the Executor that there was a big gap between him and Rex.
And for that, he never had a chance of winning from the start.
‘It felt like I was standing in front of Father…’ the Exeuctor pondered and shuddered.
Seeing Rex’s silhouette—accentuated by the piercing glow of his crimson eyes, the Executor was overcome with a sensation akin to facing the Supreme One himself—who seemed to be able to carry the weight of the entire world on his back.
He felt like he was a kid again.
Under Rex’s shadow, oozing with the same presence as the Supreme One, he felt minuscule.
<Time until complete erasure: 8 seconds>
Coughing more blood out of his mouth, the Executor fought with all his might to stand up and face Rex properly. He puts on a weak smile, deciding to give the satisfaction, that Rex earned and deserved.
“I’m sorry for existing in your era. Now end it, you won, Royal Black Prince” He declared.
Upon hearing this, Rex stared at the Executor silently.
But in the next second, Rex made a quick move and thrust the Blood Devourer into his chest.
Splash!
———
Meanwhile, outside of the devastation.
As the white beam expanded, the landscape was devastated by its horrendous power.
Fortunately, with the Witch of Chaos’ timely vigilance, she managed to warn the others about the incoming devastation and helped them evacuate, before the smite hit. Currently—they all were standing a distance away from the edge of the white beam.
Its gust of power was brushing against their skin like a constant, high-pressured tidal wave.
Each onlooker knows that being hit by this beam would decimate them.
So the fact that the Executor and the Royal Black Prince were inside surfaced uncertainty.
Nobody resumed their fights, their attentions were all glued to the scenery.
Also, many were confused by the sudden phenomenon.
Only a select few could piece together what had happened, and they were the generals, who had lived a long life to make an educated guess, and the Witch of Chaos who was the first to notice the incoming threat from the white beam.
Regardless of how strong mortals become, they were still bound to the law of the world.
Breaking the limiter of the world is hard enough, but maintaining it is even harder.
Naturally, there will come a point when the world returns the balance.
Ryze, who followed the others to a safe distance, looked to the side and frowned weirdly.
He saw that Adhara, Flunra, Kyran, Gistella, and Evelyn who already regained consciousness seemed to be in a lot of pain. It was evident, from their contorted expressions—and also the sizzling vapor, oozing out of their bodies.
Clearly, something was happening to the Silverstar Pack.
Out of the entire pack, Kyran was the only one who could move as he approached the Witch.
“Witch, tell me what happened,” He said demandingly.
Kyran’s eyes could be seen containing determination—hiding the concern he was feeling, as he saw the Witch bring Edward out. As far as he remembered, Edward was a traitor—and he wanted to know how the situation led to this.
Also, he frowned when he saw that Edward seemed different.
But he didn’t mind that for now.
Representing the others, Kyran also wanted to dash into the white beam and help Rex.
Considering the pain all of them felt, Rex must be inside and suffering.
Even Evelyn and Adhara cut their links as the pain messed up their bodies too much.
But Kyran knew that there was nothing he could do to help.
Despite being reckless most of the time, he knew this showcase of power was beyond him.
“Stop looking at him like that,” the Witch commented, casting a glance at Kyran who seemed to want to swallow Edward whole—an understandable response. “You are looking at the one who made defeating the Executor possible. I don’t know how he was able to do it—but there seemed to be a strong bond between him and the Royal Black Prince,”
Upon hearing this, Kyran frowned before that frown gradually turned into a surprise.
He began to realize what the Witch meant by that.
‘Don’t tell me… Did Edward have been playing the Executor this whole time?’ He wondered.
Back then, Kyran was quite sure that Rex’s anger towards Edward was genuine.
It was after one of the most heart-wrenching moments and yet Edward sided against Rex.
Just from that alone—he was quite sure that the relationship between Rex and Edward was immensely strained, to the point of becoming enemies. Due to that—Kyran didn’t get how it ended up like this.
As he thought of that, he glanced to the side and caught sight of Giana and Sebrof.
Both of them seemed to be fresh out of a fight.
“As for the Royal Black Prince, you need not worry,” the Witch interjected—her gaze piercing into the distance—drawing Kyran’s attention back to her. “If even I could sense the incoming world’s suppression, he definitely sensed it too. He planned to end it inside, he quite literally planned everything to the last second”
Even though it was not enough until he could see Rex okay, it made Kyran feel better.
From what the Witch said, it seemed everything fell into its place.
Kyran, including the others stood mere hundreds of meters from the creek’s edge, enveloped in silence, as time seemed to crawl. Each passing second, stretched into an eternity—leaving them waiting with bated breath.
Naturally, anticipation was palpable, thick in the air, as the victor would soon be determined.
It was the conclusion of the fight that would change the course of the entire world.
Every moment felt like an age, as if the world itself held its breath in unison with him and also the other onlookers around, until finally, their eyes focused on a shadowed point of the white beam that resembled a person.
Many could feel their hearts racing in anticipation of this shadowy figure coming out.
Soon, the figure emerged from the brilliance of the white beam.
Under the watchful eyes of the onlookers, Rex emerged from the white beam, bearing visible scars that spoke of the brutal ordeal he had faced. His royal black furs were marred with the wounds, his body suffered—and wisps of steaming vapor rose from his entire body, that had been suppressed and threatened to be erased by the white beam.
Rex’s every step was light, but it gave the illusion of quaking the entire world.
Steps that carry the weight of a thousand battles.
But his appearance was not the sight that silenced the onlookers, and forced their breaths to be held in collective awe and horror, no—it was the figure who was being dragged that made the onlookers silent.
With a staggering gait, Rex dragged the Executor behind him.
He dragged the Executor, who had a cutlass impaling through his chest, by the nape brutally.
At that moment, amid the hushed reverence of the spectators, Rex radiated a brilliance that surpassed any blade, or even the white beam behind him—a beacon of strength. And as he pressed on, it was clear that nothing would stand in his way.
Doubts loomed over him as he set to battle against the Executor.
Many judged him silently for attempting the impossible, biting more than he could chew.
Nobody has ever achieved what he was attempting to do.
Across millennia that birthed countless geniuses, none had triumphed over an Executor.
The Executors are the embodiments of the Supreme One’s malice they say—the Executors are invincible they say, but all of those claims were destroyed and squashed by Rex at this current moment.
Upon reaching his desired distance, Rex raised his gaze and swept his eyes dauntingly.
Exhaustion battered his body, but he remained standing firmly.
Resisting the urge to falter, Rex maintained his strong demeanor as he lifted the Executor’s body with a single hand—presenting it to the onlookers with a deliberate, almost theatrical flourish.
In a dramatic gesture, he released his grip, causing the Executor to slump to the ground.
Thud!
Despite its light thudding sound, it felt like a thunder rang inside the onlookers’ minds.
Realizing that the Royal Black Prince had triumphed over the Executor, the onlookers made a collective deep inhale before their minds jolted awake. Almost instantly after that—the literal leaders of the Supernatural Armies stabbed their weapons into the ground, and did not show any hesitance to bend their knees.
Queen Shanaela at the very front was the first one to kneel as she declared in reverence.
“Hail, the Royal Black Prince!”
Her voice echoed throughout the deadly silent battlefield, seeping into the ears of many.
Following her lead, the leaders of the Supernatural Armies also declared the same words.
Like a ripple in a pond, this gesture spread swiftly through the ranks.
Each warrior under the lead bends in homage to the victor of this destructive battle.
An awe-inspiring sight traversed under the Silverstar Pack’s gaze.
Similarly, like a domino effect, even the opposing forces followed suit—the Human Army laid their weapons down, as they too knelt in surrender. With the Executor defeated—they stood no chance against Rex’s forces who outnumbered them now.
Even though the odds were against him, Rex had managed to come out on top as always.
No foe had bested him in a battle he prepared to fight yet.
From a side view, the sight of thousands upon thousands of individuals kneeling in front of a battered and wounded Werewolf was almost akin to a painting. No howl or even a battle cry escaped Rex’s mouth, his standing presence alone was a loud enough declaration to all.
Aside from those who were present, others in the shadows also witnessed this sight.
Out of their expectations, Rex actually managed to defeat the Fifthborn.
It substantially changed the course of the entire world.
Unlike a world where Humanity once again claimed supremacy, as in ancient times, the world embarked on a new direction. It ventured down an uncharted direction, a path that has never occurred in history, a breath of fresh air for the new era.
Despite their surprise, it sparked the interest of many parties.
Compared to dealing with the same problems as in the past, this era would be very unique.
Many yearn to see how this era would become following this new path.
