Chapter 2455: Setting Foundations

To say that the situation was not strange would be a lie. Lex had built a fake realm inside a necklace, and then fused with that necklace, moving that realm into himself. Thus, now, wherever Lex walked he would take the realm with him.

Yet no matter how strange it seemed or felt to think that he carried a realm inside of hímself wherever he went, that was actually quite common among Celestial Immortals. To be specific, it was quite common for Celestial Immortals to fuse an entire planet with themselves. and take it wherever they go. In the Origin realm, there was even a club of Celestial Immortals who used their fused planets like ships to travel through space.

Thus, to carry a small realm within oneself was not completely unusual or unheard of. But it was also not without limitations. The size and strength of the realm one could fuse with and carry around was limited by a few things, such as the strength of his body and his soul, as well as his familiarity with certain laws.

For Lex, that was not a major concern. He was very familiar with quite a few laws, and the strength of his body and soul need not be questioned. Thus, when Lex encountered a realm which had a history of cruelty and sin, and was occupied by those whose greatest contribution to the universe would be their deaths. He decided to make use of it. Much more important for Lex than the actual resources that filled this place was the set of rules that governed this realm.

What neither Velma, nor anyone else noticed about this place, was that the rules that governed the function of this realm seemed to leave space for administration, or some kind of control. It was so subtle that those who didn’t already know the patterns wouldn’t even recognise the actual purpose behind why the laws were configured in such a way. It was a sign that a system had played a fundamental role in the development of this realm, and in fact governed much of its function. Lex had witnessed such a thing inside the Midnight realm as well. To be specific, the way that the laws operated inside the territory of the Inn within the Midnight realm was similar to this.

When Lex was designing his own realm, his purpose had been to have absolute control over those laws so that he could force himself to become equivalent to a Sovereign inside. Looking at these laws now, Lex realised that this was a better way of doing things. Instead of absolute control over every law, which was both difficult and energy consuming, it was better to allow the laws to develop naturally in such a way that they would grant him access to manipulate them when needed.

If he was able to do this, then in the future it would not take him such a long time to summon his Sovereign realm, especially in the midst of battle. Of course, first he would have to ensure that only he could affect and influence those laws. Devouring this realm, and the template according to which its laws were built, would allow Lex to save a tremendous amount of time and effort.

Lex also had a feeling that he could improve his Lotus form to give himself even better and greater control over the Sovereign realm, but that was something he would need to experiment with and perfect. It wasn’t something that could be done at a moment’s notice. As such, the destruction of this realm was something that would need to be systematic. Instead of destroying the whole realm immediately, Lex first checked if the realm had a core or something akin to an Axis Eternum, lf he made one of those for his own realm, it would drastically increase his control over the realm. If this realm didn’t have one, that was also fine.

Once Lex returned to the Midnight Inn, he could read Taro’s journal to learn how to make one for his own realm. As it turned out, the Conquest realm did have a core, and it was connected to Mathew’s castle. Deep underground, beneath even the dungeon, was a hidden chamber within which was a stone pillar that seemed fused with the ground itself.

All the laws of the realm seemed to emerge from the pillar, and were clearly controlled by it. Lex placed his hand on it and, after extending his spirit sense inside to study it for a moment, expanded his Sovereign realm over it. Then he began to devour it!

A massive earthquake shocked the entire realm, and lightning started to flash in cloudless skies. The cracks, which still filled the space in skies above the realm, began to expand rapidly. A storm of energy began to travel through the realm, but none of it could shake Lex.

The weight of his Primordial self kept him anchored at his location even as the entire realm began to destabilise far too rapidly. Absorbing the realm like this would waste a lot of its essence and resources, but Lex was pressed for time. The important thing was to improve his own realm, while also leaving behind a message, The Conquest realm dared to enslave a worker of the Midnight Inn, and so it was conquered.

After this it would be nearly impossible to retain the Inn’s status as a neutral entity. Then again, Lex didn`t care so much about that anyway. While the system wanted him to maintain absolute neutrality so that he could accept all guests, it seemed that it just wasn’t meant to be. The laws of the realm began to rupture, and even more chaos began to spread, until at last the outer boundary of the realm burst.

The outer boundary of all realms, mature and immature, kept the realms separated from the Void, and purified the Chaos energy of the Void and processed it into stable energy to be used within the realm. The moment that boundary was damaged, the destruction of the realm became unstoppable.
