Chapter 2121: Exchanging info for laws
Chapter 2121: Exchanging info for laws
"Wow, trust issues much?" Regix asked upon being questioned. "If you must know, I am suffering from an incomparably powerful curse, and using this flower is the only way I know to remove that specific curse on me. There’s a lot of additional details I could give you, but your level is too low. Quickly become a Dao Lord and come back so we can talk properly."
Lex rolled his eyes.
"I really wasn’t planning on becoming a Dao Lord, but since you insist, I’ll see what I can do," said Lex with a tremendous amount of sarcasm. Normally, Lex wasn’t like this. He blamed Regix for bringing out the worst in him.
"Listen here, Lexus. It’s not my fault that you’re too weak to hear some secrets. I can already see that you’ve been irresponsible. You think you can just ignore the precaution that everyone else takes and learn secrets before your time. Well, you managed to be able to bear the initial consequences of those secrets, but your actions turned you into a walking, talking beacon.
"A lot of powerful beings noticed you, and now they’re slowly and steadily sapping your destiny, your potential, your everything. If you don’t find a way to cleanse them off you, you won’t even know how you died."
Lex finally paused, his expression turning serious. Indeed, this was a problem he only noticed at the tea party when he entered that formation that cut him off from the rest of the universe. Some entities had targeted him without him noticing, and without fear of the Innkeeper as well.
He had no idea how to get rid of those influences. Maybe...
"Oh no pal, you’re not getting anything for free from me," said Regix, right up front.
Lex coughed, feeling awkward for what he was about to do.
"You owe me for the spirit stones I sacrificed to power this place," he said very seriously, causing Regix to pause.
"I have a feeling that you’re an unscrupulous salesman somewhere out in the universe," Regix said. "Fine. I’ll tell you how to remove the influences off you, but I need you to place more spirit stones down. I need enough energy for a few centuries at the very least. Do you know how long I’ve spent meditating in the dark? Because I certainly don’t."
Lex had a feeling that Regix had ADHD because how was he able to never get to the main point?
Upon noticing Lex’s expression, Regix recalled that he was telling Lex about how to get rid of the influences on him.
"Well, the obvious way is to get someone super strong to do it - but I have a feeling that that is out of the question. In that case, you need to find something that can overwrite the influence of Dao. I’d recommend going and finding a solution in Arch-Heaven. The strict rules there also serve a purpose, so if you find a way to purify yourself in there, it should work.
"Honestly bro, I’ve been out of commission for a long time, and I just woke up, so don’t go expecting the perfect answers from me. All my data is from super old sources. Actually, you know what? I’ll trade you. If you provide me with sufficient information about what’s happening out there in the universe these days, and the current state of affairs, I’ll respond by teaching you about laws.
"The amount I teach will reflect the value of whatever information you give me. Yes, this is not a bad idea at all. See, you’re not the only salesman here. I can come up with some good deals myself."
Lex raised an eyebrow. This truly was an interesting deal.
"Is there any way for me to transmit information to you from outside here? If so, I can send you much more news..."
The orb pulsed.
"Forget about it. Once you leave here, you won’t be able to come back unless you find the flower, or unless you activate Code Regix again. If you want to trade, do it now. I plan on napping once you leave."
Lex paused. Truthfully, he still didn’t know much about Regix. This was a highly suspicious orb, and he didn’t know what consequences there would be to sharing information with him. At the same time, the opportunity he was offering was too great to miss.
Lex decided to probe first. He’d see how effective his teachings about laws were before truly sharing something valuable.
He could start with some common news.
"So currently, we are in the third Age of the universe and..."
Lex shared some extremely basic information that everyone generally knew about, but would be valuable to someone who had been disconnected for so long. Lex discussed the war, the state of affairs of the universe and the general positions of various races on the Cosmic Ascendance Spectrum.
After sharing a good amount of common knowledge, Lex then asked to learn about karma. Only by comparing what he was taught to a law he was very familiar with would he be able to understand how valuable it was.
What he did not expect was that Regix simply taught him about aspects of karma he was not too familiar with. He taught Lex about the relevance of sowing karma, and how it could be reaped.
Lex fell into a trance, feeling like he could cross even more levels once he loosened his cultivation seal!
Lex no longer cared about the Double Yin or Double Yang whatever. In fact, his whole opinion of Regix changed. This was no ordinary orb - this was a shortcut to power he never knew he needed.
Still, Lex was incredibly careful not to share any news related to himself or anyone close to him. While based on his power, Lex felt like he could pry the truth from Lex if he wanted to, based on his behavior Lex gathered that Regix would not. He was simply alleviating boredom by listening to Lex - or maybe he really was interested in what the universe had become during his sleep.
