Chapter 1764: Spherical Regolith Worldlet of Arcana II

“A mundane auction would be too boring for people of your distinction, so any auction we held would have to be special,” Mary said, though no one would have had the guts to call any auction she held as mundane.

“Like this Blade of Eternal Echoes that I have here,” Mary said, holding up a projection of a simple blade of grass. “Now the dragons from the Origin realm have been asking us what it would take to sell this thing. But it’s not the kind of thing we would just sell. No, an auction sounds so much better, doesn’t it?”

As she spoke, a description of the blade appeared in front of all the guests.

“But that blade is too special. That’s the kind of thing one saves for a big auction. So then, what about this Black Flower? Eating the flower can cause permanent spirit enhancement even in Immortals and induce a weak enlightenment? That’s the kind of stuff that’s not so rare that it’s unheard of, but definitely rare enough that even you guys would want it, right?”

Many immortals, Levi included, began to hyperventilate as they read the description of the Black Flower. That was not the kind of stuff their organization would need, but it was definitely the kind of stuff they themselves would love to get their hands on!

“But what would you do if you had all kinds of stuff, ranging from the Black Flower all the way to the Blade of Echoes? The Innkeeper decided to host an auction, to make things fair. After all, he doesn’t need these things.

“But this event… what you’re here at today, that’s not the auction. No, this small little event is just to give you all a small taste of the auction to come, and to give you a small peek at what to expect one year from now.

“I won’t say too much for now. I think it’s best we just jump into the auction itself. Once that’s over, though, I’ll talk to you guys a bit more about what’s coming up. What do you guys think?”

Naturally, every single one of the members spoke up in agreement, not daring to deny Mary. None of them wanted to risk it. The Innkeeper already had a set reputation, but none of them knew Mary, and they didn’t want to be the ones to discover her limitations.

Mary chuckled at their reaction. She found it even funnier knowing that the things they were going to compete to buy in a short time were basically just trinkets that Lex and the rest had just picked up over their two decades in Abaddon.

That place was a death trap, but it also had a history nearly as old as the universe. Just as the dirt in the Midnight realm was invaluable to low level cultivators and mortals, even the dirt from Abaddon was valuable to even immortals.

Of course, that was not the case throughout Abaddon, but the point was that it was super easy to stumble onto invaluable items and treasures in Abaddon that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

Lex and everyone from the tavern had found some truly invaluable items in Abaddon, and though none could truly match up to the items they picked up in the Jungle, they were still pretty good. Not to mention, Lex and the rest had also picked up a lot of treasures from the jungle as well!

So, they had quite the stock on their hands, and while many things had been handed over to the turtle, many things could also be sold off.

“Lets begin with this Spherical Regolith Worldlet of Arcana,” she said, raising her hand and showing a small, brown orb.

This was just a fancy way of saying that she had a ball of dirt with extremely dense spiritual energy, so much so that it could compete with a 1 star world.

Now that was actually something very rare and possibly even useful, except that if it was used in the Midnight realm, it would only dilute the purity of energy here. So… since Lex couldn’t use it, and the ball had nothing else going for it save how energy dense it was, he decided to sell it.

Of course, what was worthless to Lex was invaluable to everyone else!

Among Celestial Immortals, it was extremely common practice to bond to a planet. Some did it as a hobby, others used it as a part of their cultivation. Getting their hands on the Spherical Regolith Worldlet of Arcana could help them promote the star level of their bonded world – even if only a little!

Each of the participants started to breathe heavier as they looked at it, all for various reasons. The dragons wanted it because dragons were greedy. The A.I. wanted it because it could be a power source. Others wanted it for reasons entirely unique to themselves.

Just as Mary had said, something like this wouldn’t attract their backing organizations, but they themselves could benefit greatly from it.

“We’ll start the bidding at 1000 MT, and each bid must raise by at least 5 MT. If you don’t have enough MT on you, you can also barter, but the items you use to barter will have to be verified by an appraiser from the Inn.”

For a couple of seconds everyone hesitated, but once the first bid was made, the whole auction picked up, with no one holding back. One would think that an auction between Celestials would be a dignified affair. Yet in front of a Dao Lord, they were basically just children, so they didn’t mind behaving like children either. There was screaming, yelling, and a fair bit of threatening though Mary immediately made it clear that the Inn would disqualify anyone who threatened other contestants.

But, as it turned out, two participants representing two different parties were brothers, so they argued that it was an internal family dispute, and it was hard to argue with that. Almost no one seemed to notice when a box of popcorn appeared in Mary’s hands. Their gazes were fixed on the ball of dirt.
