The Innkeeper

Chapter 1748: Phantasm Leviathan

Chapter 1748: Phantasm Leviathan

Lex was aware of the flaw of what he was doing. By putting items in the Gift shop, merely to read their descriptions, exposed them to being bought by others. That’s exactly why, lately, when he put items in the shop, he would always make them ridiculously expensive, and slap some restrictions on them as well, for example, the buyer has to have Privilege tier 5.

When he put the Phantasm core within the Gift Shop, he similarly put countless restrictions on it, leaving it in the shop merely as long as it took for a description to be formed and for him to read it, before pulling it back.

Nothing went amiss, at least in terms of getting the core back. But what was enough time for the core to arrive in the shop, and for Lex to read the description and pull it back, was naturally also enough time for Wu Kong to sense its appearance and read it as well. In fact, if it hadn’t been for the ridiculous price, Wu Kong might have bought it. But the MP in the card Lex had given him was nowhere near enough to buy the item, which had been priced at 1 undecillion MT.

Wu Kong didn’t react – he simply blinked. What game was the Innkeeper playing, showing him that? Did he think Wu Kong might want it?

Now, Wu Kong had a reputation for being crazy – being a one-man Dao Lord army who was more than willing to face anyone who troubled him. But even he had his limits.

Wu Kong whistled, as if he had seen nothing at all, and quickly left the shop, lest the Innkeeper show him something else.

Lex, entirely unaware of Wu Kong’s experience, was reading the details of his reward.

Phantasm Core

The Core of a Phantasm Leviathan – a former member of the Sage races, and one of the original members of the Sage races at the dawn of the universe. The Leviathans fell out of the Sage races not because they were defeated, or fell from grace. Instead, it is because a new Phantasm Leviathan hasn’t been born in over an Age, for reasons unknown.

The Phantasm Leviathans are born at the Demi-Dao Lord realm, and historically almost always reach the Dao – the only exception to that being death. In the known recorded history of the universe, only three Phantasm Leviathans have ever died – leaving the remainder of the entire race still alive, all in the Dao realm. It is unknown which realm the Leviathan reside in, for no one has discovered them unless approached by the Leviathans first.

The Phantasm Core contains the Dao Heart of its Leviathan, making it extremely useful as an ingredient in many fields. It can make the best medicine, it is the best material for forging, it can elevate the maturity of a realm, and it can improve the chances of the consumer in surviving the Dao Tribulation. Its value is inestimable, for even Dao Lords would find this item useful.

Lex read the description, and whistled. That was one heck of a reward, and would probably get him in a lot of trouble if anyone knew he had it. Fortunately, he had gotten it from the system, so no one should know that he had gotten his hands on it. More importantly, Lex firmly believed that this could probably help him recover his system functionality quite a bit.

There was no point in wasting time. He summoned the core in the Innkeeper’s office, not daring to actually touch it or allow its aura to affect him. Almost immediately, he heard the very familiar sound he had been waiting for.

New Notification: Phantasm Core detected. It can be absorbed to repair system functionality. Absorb? Y/N.

Lex gave his permission, and watched the core, which looked like a smooth, multicolored marble ball, disappear.

That was quick and easy. Now all he had to do was wait for its effects.

New Notification: System functionality is being repaired. Repair process will take 99 hours, during which time the system will be unavailable for use. All system functions will continue to operate as normal.

Lex read the notification, but wasn’t too surprised. That kind of thing also happened when his system previously absorbed a system, and had to unlock new features. 99 hours also wasn’t too bad. Lex could get a lot of work done.

Not like completing the auction – no, Lex had left that to the others. Instead, with his real body, Lex walked over to Orin, the Hammer Deity. It was time to make that Karmic Bead.

Phantasm Chaos Realm

The Phantasm Chaos realm was a very special realm, with a very special environment. From top to bottom, the entire realm did not contain a single speck of air, or empty space. Instead, the entire boundary of the realm was filled with what Lex called the Chaos Sea.

The realm hadn’t originally been like this, but the Phantasm race had changed this realm to suit their needs, so they had crushed hundreds of thousands of immature realms and turned them into Chaos liquid to fill their realm.

By now, since the realm had matured, it had become a law of the realm that it would be filled with the Chaos liquid to the brim, so it no longer required their active efforts.

To be clear, this was a Major realm. The Origin realm, regardless of how vast it was, still had not reached full maturity, which meant that the size of the Phantasm Chaos realm was much bigger, and yet it still had not an ounce of empty space. The amount of effort required to fill it to the brim in the first place… it could not even be imagined by those outside this realm.

However, since no outsider had ever been here, none knew of its secrets, and no Phantasm Leviathan would ever reveal it.

The plans of this race were deep, and far-reaching beyond what even most of the major powers of the universe could fathom, such was their grasp on vicissitudes of time.

Within this realm, many secret preparations were taking place, unbeknownst to the universe. But today, something genuinely unexpected happened.
