Chapter 172 - Ask Him To Come In
Chapter 172: Ask Him To Come In
When Lin Fei’er heard Su Wan asking for her view, she gave a feeble sigh. She looked down, about to speak but said nothing.
Lin Fei’er kept silent for several moments and instead of answering, she asked Su Wan for her opinion.
“Wan, if you were me, what would you do?”
Upon hearing this, indignation appeared between her beautiful brows and as if without thinking, she gave her answer.
“Of course I would get a divorce. I can’t get myself to raise the scumbag and the b*tch’s child!”
Lin Fei’er was amused by Su Wan’s look of indignation. She knew her best friend’s personality. Although she looked like a person who was easy to talk to on the surface, when it came to a matter of principles, there was no room for discussion.
Hence, when Gu Zihang had turned his back on her and gone with Su Yurou, she chose to leave it behind without having any intention to save the relationship.
From this perspective, Su Wan was more courageous than she was.
As Lin Fei’er thought about this, she gave a bitter smile.
Su Wan felt a burst of bitterness in her heart when she saw Lin Fei’er’s sad look following her bitter smile.
Lin Fei’er looked faintly at Su Wan. She was not as firm as Su Wan. Hence, from the moment she had awoken, she had not made her decision and dared not see Li Peng.
“Wan, what if I plead to Li Peng to ask Yang Xiaobing to abort her child and we adopt one instead? If he agrees, do you think he and I could continue our lives together as husband and wife?”
Lin Fei’er’s slightly husky voice entered her ear. Su Wan’s heart skipped a beat and understood that Lin Fei’er still loved Li Peng, and that it was why she created this self-deceptive hypothesis.
Su Wan took in a deep breath and felt Lin Fei’er truly loved Li Peng and her love for him had reached such a humble state.
“Let’s put aside Li Peng’s agreement. Even if there isn’t Yang Xiaobing, can you guarantee Li Peng would not mess with other women in the future?”
Even though a broken porcelain could be repaired, in the eyes of the owner, he would still remember the cracks of the past.
“I…”
Lin Fei’er gaped and she had mixed feelings.
Su Wan waved her hand, signaling to her not to talk. When she saw Lin Fei’er falling into a silence and after a long hesitation, Su Wan made up her mind to tell Fei’er what Li Peng’s mother had said.
“Let’s assume Li Peng gives up his evil deeds and walks a path of virtue. Can you guarantee that you can both withstand his mother’s pressure? Do you know what his mother said? She said, what’s the use of a woman who can’t bear a child?”
Hearing Su Wan’s continuous questions, Lin Fei’er was short of breath.
Lin Fei’er’s eyes became red and her body started trembling, especially when she heard that sentence: “What is the use of a woman who can’t bear a child?”
That’s right, how could she have forgotten that her mother-in-law had started nagging that the Li family had been having only one son for each of the three generations and that she had to give birth to a son for Li Peng.
To a considerable extent, marrying a man meant marrying his family. Now that Li Peng’s mother insisted on having a grandson, she would definitely not like her…
Seeing a baffling sorrow emitting from Lin Fei’er’s eyes, Su Wan panicked all of a sudden. She quickly held Lin Fei’er’s hands, trying to give her some strength.
“Don’t believe in Li Peng’s mother’s nonsense. Why should a person’s value be defined by whether or not she can bear a child? Life is full of beautiful things and it won’t become dull just because one has no children.”
Su Wan held Lin Fei’er’s hand tightly and quickly added, “If you really like children, you could adopt one in the future. Moreover, I have said that you will be my children’s godmother! To me, it’d be better to be single than to live with a scumbag and live a life of mutual dislike.”
Lin Fei’er knew Su Wan was thinking for her sake. She smiled as she nodded. Several hours after she regained her consciousness, she felt her mind was the clearest when she was with Su Wan.
“Wan, please ask Li Peng to come in.”
Su Wan was stunned. Fei’er wanted her to ask Li Peng to come in?
Glancing at Lin Fei’er’s complicated dark eyes, Su Wan didn’t know how much of her words Lin Fei’er had taken in.
She knew Lin Fei’er loved Li Peng very much but no matter what, Su Wan didn’t want Lin Fei’er to stay in this fire pit.
“Fei’er, I…”
Lin Fei’er shook her head gently as she understood that Su Wan wanted to continue persuading her.
“I just want to make it clear to him. Please ask him to come in.”
Looking at the stubborn Lin Fei’er, Su Wan knew she was unable to dissuade her. So, she walked helplessly toward the door.
“Fei’er wants to see you.”
Su Wan shot Li Peng a cold glance and threw him a sentence. Then, she turned and returned to the ward.
“Su Wan, how’s Fei’er feeling now? She…”
When Li Peng heard Su Wan say that Lin Fei’er finally wanted to see him, he was overjoyed. He wanted to ask Su Wan about Fei’er’s current conditions but when he saw Su Wan’s cold and indifferent look, he kept quiet immediately.
Yang Xiaobing saw Li Peng tidying his hair and smoothing down the creases of his collar, obviously trying to look his best, and her heart sank.
Yang Xiaobing bit her lips. A sense of guilt and worry appeared in her watery eyes. “Brother Peng, can I go in with you? I wish to see Sis Fei’er too.”
She wanted to see how sickly she was!
Hearing what Yang Xiaobing said, Li Peng’s happy face froze. He caressed Yang Xiaobing’s hair.
“Xiaobing, I told you not to come. You know Fei’er is angry now. It’s hasn’t been easy to get her to agree to see me. You wait obediently outside.”
Yang Xiaobing’s face paled. She sighed and finally nodded and agreed to Li Peng’s request.
“Then, can you bring this black chicken soup I’ve boiled in? Sis Fei’er has just had a miscarriage, she’ll need some nourishment. I boiled it the whole morning.”
Huh, as long as Li Peng brought her gift to Lin Fei’er, the effect of this would be similar to the effect of her going in personally.
She believed Sis Fei’er would be extremely angry, wouldn’t she?
Li Peng looked at Yang Xiaobing’s dull and worried eyes. His words of rejection had reached his lips but he couldn’t bear to say it.
When Li Peng was silent, Yang Xiaobing immediately shoved him the thermal food jar.
“Brother Peng, quick, go in, Sis Fei’er is waiting for you.”
Li Peng took a glance at the thermal food jar. He thought Yang Xiaobing had good intentions and that she had woke up early to boil this especially for Lin Fei’er, so he took it along as he entered to intensive care unit.
The sudden sound of door opening made Su Wan and Lin Fei’er’s heads turn.
Lin Fei’er saw Li Peng’s haggard face and a sad smile appeared on her face.
“Li Peng, you’re finally here.”
This was a man she loved so deeply but at the same time, hated to the core.
