Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Displeasure

Xi Yunxui stood in the corridor, staring at the servant who had just questioned her.

"What are you doing here?"

For several seconds, she couldn’t answer.

Her mind went completely blank.

What am I doing here?

She couldn’t exactly say—

The strange voice living inside my head told me Madam Huo has a headache and ordered me to massage her.

That would probably get her thrown out of the Huo residence.

Xi Yunxui quickly searched through the memories she had received.

Then an idea came to her.

"I..."

She paused deliberately.

"I forgot to tell Madam Huo something."

The servant looked at her curiously.

"What?"

Xi Yunxui maintained a calm expression.

"Elder Qin asked me to tell Madam Huo something."

The servant’s eyes immediately widened with understanding.

"Oh."

He nodded thoughtfully.

"That makes sense."

Xi Yunxui silently thanked the heavens.

It worked.

The servant pointed toward the staircase.

"Madam Huo’s room is on the second floor."

He gave her directions.

"Go upstairs, turn left at the end of the corridor, then walk past the study. Her room is the third door on the right."

Xi Yunxui memorized the instructions.

"Thank you."

The servant nodded and continued with his work.

Xi Yunxui waited until he disappeared.

Then she quietly released the breath she had been holding.

"That was close."

She followed the directions.

---

The second floor was considerably quieter than the first.

The thick carpet softened her footsteps.

Warm golden lights illuminated the long corridor, reflecting against several framed paintings hanging along the walls.

Xi Yunxui slowed down.

She had never seen so many paintings displayed in one place.

Some showed landscapes.

Others showed people.

One depicted a vast ocean beneath a sunset.

She looked at it for several seconds before remembering why she was there.

Madam Huo.

She continued walking.

Third door on the right.

She stopped.

The door was large and elegant, made of dark polished wood with delicate golden details carved into its surface.

Xi Yunxui raised her hand.

Knock. Knock.

For several seconds, there was no response.

Then a weak voice came from inside.

"Come in."

Xi Yunxui opened the door.

The room was enormous.

Her first impression was that it looked more like a luxurious hotel suite than a bedroom.

A large bed stood against the far wall, covered with soft ivory-colored bedding.

Two elegant bedside tables stood on either side.

There was a large sitting area near the windows, complete with a velvet sofa and a small glass table.

Long curtains framed the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Beyond them, the lights of the city glittered in the distance.

A delicate chandelier hung from the ceiling.

There were several tasteful pieces of artwork on the walls, along with decorative vases and carefully arranged flowers.

Everything was neat.

Everything was expensive.

And yet, despite the beauty of the room, the woman sitting on the bed looked exhausted.

Su Meilan was leaning weakly against the headboard.

Her complexion was slightly pale.

The moment she noticed Xi Yunxui, she slowly straightened.

"Yunxui?"

Xi Yunxui stopped near the door.

"Madam."

Su Meilan looked at her curiously.

"What do you need?"

Xi Yunxui hesitated.

Then she decided to follow the safest path.

"Madam, are you feeling unwell?"

Su Meilan raised a hand to her temple.

"I have a headache."

Xi Yunxui immediately remembered the system’s mission.

She nodded.

"Is it because of the dinner?"

"Perhaps."

Su Meilan sighed.

"The banquet was more tiring than I expected. I thought I could manage it, but after everyone left, I suddenly felt exhausted."

She pressed her fingers against her forehead.

"The headache has been getting worse."

Xi Yunxui looked at her carefully.

"Madam..."

Su Meilan looked up.

"Yes?"

"I know a massage technique that might help."

Su Meilan looked surprised.

"You know how to massage?"

"Yes."

Xi Yunxui nodded.

"My family used to have headaches sometimes. I learned a few simple techniques."

That explanation wasn’t completely false.

She had learned them in her previous life.

Su Meilan hesitated only briefly.

Then she nodded.

"Alright."

Xi Yunxui walked closer.

"Where does it hurt?"

"Mostly here."

Su Meilan pointed toward her temples.

Xi Yunxui gently placed her fingers there.

"Relax."

Su Meilan closed her eyes.

Xi Yunxui began massaging her temples with slow, controlled movements.

Her fingers moved along the pressure points around the temples and forehead.

She adjusted the pressure whenever Su Meilan’s breathing changed.

The room became quiet.

One minute passed.

Then another.

Su Meilan’s tense expression gradually softened.

The pain that had been throbbing inside her head slowly faded.

She took a deep breath.

Then another.

Xi Yunxui continued for several seconds before gently withdrawing her hands.

"Madam?"

Su Meilan opened her eyes.

She looked genuinely surprised.

"The pain..."

She touched her temple.

"It’s gone."

Xi Yunxui smiled.

"That’s good."

Su Meilan stared at her.

"How did you learn this?"

Xi Yunxui gave the same answer.

"From experience."

Su Meilan shook her head.

"You’re full of surprises today."

Xi Yunxui smiled awkwardly.

Then—

Ding!

Xi Yunxui’s eyes brightened.

[Mission completed!]

[Congratulations, Host!]

[Mission: Relieve Madam Huo’s Headache — COMPLETED.]

[System Progress +3%.]

[Current System Progress: 10%.]

Xi Yunxui almost smiled too widely.

Ten percent.

She had reached ten percent already.

But the system wasn’t finished.

[Special Reward detected.]

Xi Yunxui’s eyes widened.

[Lucky Draw function activated.]

Her excitement disappeared.

"Lucky draw?"

She almost said it aloud.

Fortunately, she stopped herself.

[Host may perform one lucky draw.]

Xi Yunxui’s heart began beating faster.

She had no idea what she could get.

Perhaps money.

Perhaps something useful.

Perhaps—

[Lucky Draw available.]

Xi Yunxui quickly reminded herself not to get too excited.

I’ll see later.

Su Meilan’s voice brought her back.

"Yunxui."

"Yes, Madam?"

"Thank you."

Su Meilan’s expression was sincere.

"You helped me tonight."

Xi Yunxui smiled.

"It’s nothing, Madam."

She stepped backward.

"You should rest."

Su Meilan nodded.

"Good night."

"Good night, Madam."

Xi Yunxui bowed slightly before leaving.

She closed the door behind her.

Then she stood in the corridor.

Her expression immediately changed.

"Lucky draw..."

Her eyes sparkled.

She wanted to know what she could get.

But she couldn’t stand there talking to herself.

Someone might think she was crazy.

So she continued walking.

She turned the corner.

And—

Bang!

She collided with something solid.

Xi Yunxui stumbled backward.

"Ah!"

Before she could fall, a hand caught her arm.

She froze.

A faint, clean scent reached her.

She slowly raised her head.

The first thing she saw was a black suit.

Then a broad chest.

A strong jawline.

Thin lips.

A straight nose.

And finally—

A pair of deep, dark eyes looking down at her.

Xi Yunxui’s mind went blank.

The man’s expression was calm.

Cold, almost.

He stood tall enough that she had to tilt her head considerably to look at him.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Xi Yunxui’s borrowed memories suddenly surfaced.

Huo Jingchen.

The eldest young master of the Huo family.

Thirty-two years old.

The eldest son of the Huo family.

The man who stood at the very top of the household among the younger generation.

Xi Yunxui’s eyes widened slightly.

So this is him.

The man looked down at the maid standing in front of him.

His hand was still lightly holding her arm.

Xi Yunxui suddenly realized something.

She had just walked into the eldest young master’s arms.

And judging from the expression on his face...

He didn’t seem particularly pleased about it.
