Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Where Is King C?

Xi Yunxui searched everywhere.

She checked beneath the tables.

Nothing.

She looked behind the flowerbeds.

Nothing.

She even walked around the small pond, peering beneath the wooden pavilion and around the decorative stones.

Still nothing.

"King C..."

There was no response.

Xi Yunxui’s expression became increasingly worried.

She knew that creature.

King C was not the kind of creature that could quietly sit in one place for long.

He was curious.

He was hungry.

He had absolutely no sense of boundaries.

And somehow, wherever he went, trouble seemed to find him.

It was as though someone had attached a giant trouble magnet to his tiny body.

Xi Yunxui rubbed her forehead.

"Where did you go?"

She searched one last section of the garden before hearing a familiar voice.

"Yunxui."

Xi Yunxui immediately turned.

Su Meilan was walking toward her with three elegantly dressed women.

Xi Yunxui’s expression changed.

She couldn’t exactly continue searching for King C while Madam Huo was calling her.

She quickly straightened her clothes and walked over.

"Madam."

Su Meilan smiled.

"There you are."

Xi Yunxui bowed slightly.

"I’m sorry, Madam."

"I was wondering where you went."

Su Meilan turned toward the women beside her.

"Come, let me introduce you."

Xi Yunxui immediately stood respectfully.

"This is Xi Yunxui. She works for our family."

She gestured toward the first woman.

"This is Madam Guo."

The woman was elegantly dressed, with neatly styled hair and an air of confidence.

"Nice to meet you," Madam Guo said warmly.

Xi Yunxui bowed.

"Nice to meet you, Madam Guo."

Su Meilan then introduced the second woman.

"This is Madam Shen."

Madam Shen smiled.

"Hello, Yunxui."

"Hello, Madam Shen."

Finally, Su Meilan gestured toward the third woman.

"And this is Madam Han."

Madam Han gave Xi Yunxui an assessing look before smiling.

"Hello."

Xi Yunxui bowed again.

"Hello, Madam Han."

The three women seemed pleasant enough.

Yet Xi Yunxui’s mind was nowhere near the introductions.

Where is King C?

She glanced discreetly around the garden.

Still nothing.

Su Meilan didn’t notice her uneasiness.

She smiled and gestured toward the dining area.

"I’ve had the meal prepared. Let’s sit down."

The women immediately followed.

Xi Yunxui had no choice but to walk ahead and lead them toward the arranged tables.

She tried to keep her expression calm.

But inside, she was becoming increasingly anxious.

King C, where are you?

---

The guests took their seats beneath the shade of the large tree.

The setting looked beautiful.

The table had been carefully arranged, with each dish placed in an inviting position.

The fruit drinks sparkled under the sunlight.

The aroma of the freshly prepared dishes drifted gently through the garden.

Madam Shen breathed in deeply.

"Oh!"

She smiled.

"This smells amazing."

She looked at Su Meilan.

"You really brought in a top-class chef this time."

Su Meilan’s lips curved upward.

She didn’t immediately explain.

Instead, she simply said,

"You’ll see."

Madam Guo laughed.

"Now I’m even more curious."

Xi Yunxui quietly stood beside the table.

Madam Huo looked toward her.

"Yunxui, serve the dishes."

"Yes, Madam."

Xi Yunxui immediately began serving.

She carefully placed portions onto the guests’ plates.

She made sure everyone received enough.

She adjusted the dishes according to what Su Meilan had previously told her about each guest.

Madam Shen watched her.

"You’re very skilled."

"Thank you, Madam."

Xi Yunxui smiled politely.

She kept working.

But all the while, one thought continued repeating in her head.

Where is King C?

She glanced toward the bushes.

Nothing.

She glanced toward the pond.

Nothing.

She looked toward the far end of the garden.

Nothing.

Her anxiety increased.

That creature is going to get me fired.

She had already seen enough of King C’s personality to know that silence from him was never a good sign.

She couldn’t even imagine what he might be doing.

Perhaps he had eaten something.

Perhaps he had knocked something over.

Perhaps he had wandered into another part of the villa.

Or worse—

Perhaps someone had found him.

Xi Yunxui kept her face calm while serving the guests.

Inside, she was nearly panicking.

System.

[Yes, Host?]

Is there a way to communicate with King C?

The system answered almost immediately.

[Yes.]

Xi Yunxui’s eyes brightened slightly.

Really?

[The Host can communicate with King C through mental connection.]

How?

[Focus your mind on King C and call his name.]

Xi Yunxui blinked.

That’s it?

[Yes.]

And he’ll hear me?

[If the connection is within range, yes.]

Xi Yunxui nodded internally.

Good.

She turned toward Su Meilan.

"Madam, I’ll excuse myself for a moment."

Su Meilan looked at her.

"Is something wrong?"

"No. I just need to check something."

Su Meilan nodded.

"Alright."

Xi Yunxui stepped away from the table.

She walked a short distance toward the villa as though she intended to retrieve something.

Once she was far enough from the guests, she stopped.

She took a slow breath.

Then closed her eyes.

King C.

Nothing.

She tried again.

King C.

Still nothing.

Xi Yunxui’s brows furrowed.

She tried a third time.

King C!

A voice finally appeared inside her head.

[Why are you disturbing me?]

Xi Yunxui’s eyes immediately opened.

You have the nerve to ask me that?!

[What did I do?]

Where are you?

There was a short pause.

[I’m somewhere with lots of food.]

Xi Yunxui’s eyes narrowed.

What kind of food?

[Vegetables.]

Her expression became suspicious.

How many vegetables?

[Many.]

Where are you?

King C seemed very pleased with himself.

[There are shelves everywhere. Bags. Boxes. Vegetables everywhere.]

Xi Yunxui’s eyes widened.

A storehouse.

She immediately understood.

King C, don’t touch anything.

There was silence.

Then—

[I haven’t touched anything.]

Xi Yunxui felt suspicious.

Really?

[...Not yet.]

Her eye twitched.

King C!

She immediately turned toward one of the servants standing nearby.

"Excuse me."

The servant stepped forward.

"Yes, Miss Xi?"

"Where is the household’s storehouse?"

The servant looked surprised by the question.

"The main storage room?"

"Yes."

The servant pointed toward another part of the compound.

"It is behind the east wing. Follow that path, then turn left after the service building. You’ll see a large storage building."

"Thank you."

Xi Yunxui didn’t waste another second.

She hurried away.

Her footsteps became faster as she crossed the garden and followed the path the servant had indicated.

The moment she reached the service area, she turned left.

A large building came into view.

Its doors were wide enough for several people to enter at once.

Xi Yunxui slowed as she approached.

She could already see several crates stacked near the entrance.

Her heart sank.

Please don’t tell me.

She pushed open the door.

Then froze.

Her eyes widened.

Her mouth slowly fell open.

The storehouse was enormous.

Rows upon rows of shelves filled the interior.

Boxes were stacked neatly from floor to ceiling.

There were vegetables.

Fruits.

Grains.

Cooking supplies.

Fresh produce.

Dried ingredients.

And several large baskets of food.

But that wasn’t what stunned Xi Yunxui.

It was the tiny white creature sitting proudly in the middle of the storehouse.

King C was perched atop a crate.

Around him were vegetables.

Carrots.

Cabbages.

Pumpkins.

Leafy greens.

He looked completely satisfied.

And in front of him...

Was a freshly opened basket of carrots.

Xi Yunxui stared.

King C slowly looked up.

Their eyes met.

For several seconds, neither said anything.

Then King C calmly lifted a carrot between his tiny hooves.

[You found me.]

Xi Yunxui’s eyebrow twitched.

"You..."

She took one slow step inside.

"What are you doing?"

King C took a bite.

Crunch.

[Eating.]

Xi Yunxui closed her eyes.

She already knew this wasn’t going to end well.
