Chapter 35: Chapter 35: The Goat Can Talk?

Huo Jingchen noticed that Xi Yunxui was still staring suspiciously at the enormous aircraft.

She stood a short distance from the entrance, her small backpack hanging from her shoulder and one hand still loosely holding the sleeve of his suit.

The expression on her face was so serious that one might have thought she was preparing to enter a dangerous battlefield.

Huo Jingchen almost smiled.

"Come."

Xi Yunxui looked at him.

"It’s safe?"

"Yes."

"It won’t suddenly..."

She glanced at the airplane.

"...close its mouth?"

Huo Jingchen’s lips twitched.

"It won’t."

Xi Yunxui nodded.

"Then I’ll trust you."

He stepped closer and, seeing that she was still hesitant, gently took her hand.

"Watch your step."

Xi Yunxui looked down.

There was a small gap between the ground and the aircraft stairs.

She carefully stepped onto the first stair.

Then the second.

Huo Jingchen remained beside her, making sure she didn’t stumble.

The moment they entered the aircraft, Xi Yunxui stopped again.

Her eyes widened.

She slowly looked around.

The interior was nothing like any room she had ever seen.

It was spacious and elegant, with soft seats arranged neatly along the sides. The lighting was warm, the floor was spotless, and the large windows offered a clear view of the world outside.

There were separate seating areas, tables and even a small private section at the front.

Xi Yunxui stared.

"This..."

She whispered,

"It really is a room that can fly."

Huo Jingchen looked at her.

"Yes."

Xi Yunxui looked toward the ceiling.

"So humans really built this."

"Yes."

She nodded slowly.

"Impressive."

Huo Jingchen guided her toward one of the window seats.

"Sit here."

Xi Yunxui obeyed.

She sat down carefully, then immediately looked through the window.

The view alone fascinated her.

She could see the airport grounds below, the vehicles moving around and several people walking toward different aircraft.

Huo Jingchen crouched slightly beside her seat.

Xi Yunxui looked at him.

"What are you doing?"

"Your seat belt."

"Oh."

She remembered what a seat belt was.

Still, she had trouble finding where to fasten it.

Huo Jingchen took one side and gently clicked it into place.

Click.

Xi Yunxui looked down.

"That was easy."

"You’ll get used to it."

His voice was noticeably softer than usual.

His entire expression seemed relaxed.

There was warmth in his eyes as he looked at her.

He adjusted the seat belt one final time to ensure it wasn’t too tight.

"There."

"Thank you."

Huo Jingchen stood.

He didn’t immediately leave.

He looked at her for another moment before taking the seat beside her.

A few rows behind them, Zhou Rui was already seated.

Beside him was Huo Jingchen’s second assistant, Lin Wei, who had been with the Huo Corporation for only a few years.

Lin Wei had witnessed plenty of strange things in the company.

He had seen President Huo negotiate multimillion-dollar contracts without changing his expression.

He had seen him work for twenty hours without complaining.

He had even seen him dismiss a famous socialite without a second glance.

But this?

Watching President Huo personally guide a maid to her seat, help fasten her seat belt and then sit beside her with an expression that looked almost—

happy?

Lin Wei stared.

He leaned toward Zhou Rui.

"Is..."

He lowered his voice.

"Is President Huo alright?"

Zhou Rui glanced at his employer.

Then at Xi Yunxui.

Then back at Lin Wei.

He calmly patted Lin Wei’s shoulder.

"Get used to it."

Lin Wei stared at him.

"Get used to what?"

Zhou Rui simply smiled.

"You’ll understand eventually."

Lin Wei looked even more confused.

---

The aircraft soon began preparing for departure.

Xi Yunxui noticed the change immediately.

The sound of the engines became louder.

She sat a little straighter.

"What’s happening?"

"We’re taking off."

Xi Yunxui’s eyes widened.

"Already?"

Huo Jingchen nodded.

"Yes."

She looked toward the window.

The plane began moving.

Slowly at first.

Then faster.

And faster.

Xi Yunxui’s hands tightened around the edge of her seat.

The ground outside began moving rapidly.

"It’s moving!"

Huo Jingchen glanced at her.

"Don’t worry."

The plane accelerated.

The sensation suddenly became much stronger.

Xi Yunxui’s body pressed into the seat.

Then—

Whoosh!

The aircraft left the ground.

"Ah!"

A small shout escaped her.

Her eyes widened as the earth began shrinking below them.

The buildings.

The roads.

The vehicles.

Everything became smaller.

Xi Yunxui stared through the window.

Her mouth slowly opened.

"We’re..."

She swallowed.

"...actually flying."

Huo Jingchen couldn’t help it.

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

Xi Yunxui immediately turned toward him.

"You laughed."

"I didn’t."

"You did."

Huo Jingchen looked away.

"You imagined it."

Xi Yunxui narrowed her eyes.

She was certain he had laughed.

But before she could argue, Huo Jingchen gently reached over and took her hand.

Xi Yunxui froze.

He gave her hand a light squeeze.

"Look outside."

She slowly turned back to the window.

"This is what flying looks like."

Xi Yunxui stared.

The clouds were beneath them.

The sunlight reflected off the white layers of clouds, making them look like endless mountains made from snow.

Her eyes shone.

"It’s beautiful."

Huo Jingchen watched her expression.

He had known she was unfamiliar with airplanes.

He just hadn’t expected her reaction to be this innocent.

A thought quietly surfaced in his mind.

I should take her out more often.

She was clearly unfamiliar with so many things.

Perhaps taking her to different places would help her get used to the modern world.

And, if he was honest with himself...

He didn’t dislike the idea of being the person who showed her those things.

He looked toward her.

She was still staring outside with fascination.

A faint smile touched his lips.

Then—

[Host.]

Xi Yunxui’s expression changed.

What?

[You are behaving exactly like a country bumpkin.]

Her smile disappeared.

...

The system continued mercilessly.

[The Host has been in the modern world for several days, yet a simple airplane has already caused multiple emotional reactions.]

Xi Yunxui clenched her teeth.

I sincerely wish you had a physical body.

[Why?]

So I can punch you.

There was a brief silence.

[...]

Xi Yunxui smiled inwardly.

Now you understand.

---

Everything was peaceful.

At least for about ten minutes.

Then—

"AH!"

A loud shout suddenly came from behind them.

Xi Yunxui turned.

Lin Wei was standing halfway out of his seat.

Zhou Rui was staring at the floor with an expression of disbelief.

"What is that?!"

Xi Yunxui’s eyes widened.

She immediately recognized the two tiny white horns.

Then the fluffy body.

Then the golden eyes.

King C was sitting proudly in the aisle as though he had purchased a first-class ticket.

Xi Yunxui’s entire expression changed.

"King C?!"

The creature looked at her.

[You were leaving without me.]

Xi Yunxui stared.

"How did you get here?"

[You cannot abandon this exalted god.]

Lin Wei looked between them.

"Exalted... what?"

Zhou Rui looked equally stunned.

"Miss Xi, that’s the animal you brought?"

Xi Yunxui immediately stood up.

"I’m sorry."

She hurriedly bent down and picked up King C.

"I apologize for the disturbance."

Lin Wei was still staring.

"How did it get onto the plane?"

Xi Yunxui had no idea.

She had checked her bag.

She had entered the aircraft.

She had sat down.

She hadn’t seen King C anywhere.

Which meant that the little creature had somehow followed her without anyone noticing.

That alone was frightening.

King C, on the other hand, seemed completely unbothered.

He sat comfortably in Xi Yunxui’s arms.

His tiny chest puffed out.

[You were leaving for an unknown destination. Naturally, I followed.]

Xi Yunxui frowned.

"You could have at least told me."

[I am an exalted god. I do not report my movements to mortals.]

Xi Yunxui’s mouth twitched.

"You’re the one who sneaked into my backpack."

[That was a strategic decision.]

She sighed.

"Fine."

She turned toward Huo Jingchen.

"I’m sorry, Young Master."

Huo Jingchen hadn’t spoken.

He was staring at King C.

His expression was one of complete disbelief.

He looked at the little white creature.

Then at Xi Yunxui.

Then back at the creature.

After several seconds, he finally asked,

"Does that goat..."

He paused.

"...talk?"

Silence filled the cabin.

Xi Yunxui froze.

King C’s ears twitched.

Lin Wei looked like he was trying very hard not to make a sound.

Zhou Rui’s expression became strangely solemn.

Huo Jingchen continued staring.

The tiny creature slowly lifted its chin.

[I am not a goat.]

Huo Jingchen’s eyes widened slightly.

He had heard it.

Clearly.

Inside her head, Xi Yunxui could practically hear the system sigh.

King C raised one tiny hoof.

[I am King C, an exalted divine beast of the mountain.]

Huo Jingchen stared.

Xi Yunxui stared.

Zhou Rui stared.

Lin Wei stared.

For several seconds, nobody knew what to say.

Then Huo Jingchen slowly turned toward Xi Yunxui.

"What exactly did you bring back from the village?"

Xi Yunxui looked down at the tiny creature in her arms.

King C looked back at her proudly.

She sighed.

"That..."

She paused.

"...is a very good question."
