Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Business Dinner [2]

The moment Xi Yunxui stepped into the building, she stopped.

Her eyes widened.

The interior was beautiful.

The polished floors reflected the warm lights hanging from the ceiling. Elegant decorations lined the walls, while neatly dressed waiters moved around carrying trays of food and drinks.

Everything was orderly.

Quiet.

Refined.

Xi Yunxui looked around in amazement.

This place looks like a palace.

She almost wanted to ask how much it cost to build a place like this.

Then she remembered that she probably couldn’t afford even one of the chairs.

She silently decided not to ask.

Huo Jingchen continued walking.

Xi Yunxui quickly followed.

They didn’t stay on the ground floor.

Instead, they entered an elevator.

Xi Yunxui glanced at the metal box.

She wasn’t frightened anymore.

Well...

Not exactly.

She now understood how it worked.

She simply didn’t trust it.

The moment the elevator began moving upward, she quietly grabbed the railing.

Huo Jingchen glanced at her.

She stood completely straight, holding the railing with both hands.

He looked at her for two seconds.

Then looked away.

He decided not to comment.

After a while, the elevator stopped.

The doors opened.

Xi Yunxui immediately released the railing.

I survived.

A waiter was already waiting outside.

"President Huo, this way, please."

They followed him down a beautifully decorated corridor.

Soon, they arrived at a private room.

The waiter opened the door.

Inside were already three people.

Two middle-aged men and a young woman.

The young woman was exceptionally beautiful.

She wore an elegant dress and carried herself with the confidence of someone accustomed to being the center of attention.

The moment Huo Jingchen entered, everyone stood.

"Good evening, President Huo."

Huo Jingchen nodded.

"Good evening, President Li."

His gaze moved to the other man.

"President Chen."

"Good evening, President Huo."

Everyone took their seats.

Xi Yunxui quietly followed Huo Jingchen and sat beside him.

Zhou Rui remained standing behind his employer.

President Li smiled.

"President Huo, allow me to introduce my daughter."

He gestured toward the young woman.

"She recently returned from the United States."

The young woman smiled politely.

"My name is Li Yuxin."

President Li continued.

"She has heard quite a lot about you and has always admired your work. When she heard that I was meeting you tonight, she insisted on coming along."

Li Yuxin’s cheeks became slightly warm.

"I simply wanted to meet you."

Huo Jingchen looked at her.

He gave a small nod.

"Nice to meet you."

That was all.

Li Yuxin’s smile stiffened for half a second.

But she quickly recovered.

Xi Yunxui quietly watched.

He’s really not a man of many words.

Then President Chen looked toward her.

His eyes showed curiosity.

"President Huo, may I ask who this young lady is?"

The question made Huo Jingchen glance toward Xi Yunxui.

For some reason, he hesitated.

He could simply say that she was a maid from the Huo residence.

But he didn’t like the thought of these people looking down on her.

Why did he care?

He didn’t know.

Before he could answer, Xi Yunxui spoke.

"I serve the Huo family."

Her voice was confident.

The room went quiet for a moment.

President Chen’s expression changed slightly.

"Oh."

A maid.

Her simple clothes had already made that possibility obvious.

After understanding her identity, nobody paid much attention to her.

Xi Yunxui didn’t mind.

She wasn’t here to impress anyone.

She had a mission.

Make sure the dinner goes smoothly.

That was all.

---

The conversation soon turned toward business.

The two presidents discussed the contract with Huo Jingchen.

Terms were reviewed.

Figures were discussed.

Several points were negotiated.

Xi Yunxui listened quietly.

Most of the conversation went over her head.

She understood business in the most basic sense.

People wanted something.

People offered something.

Then everyone argued over the price.

Modern business wasn’t so different from bargaining at a market.

Just much more complicated.

Dishes were served throughout the discussion.

Xi Yunxui glanced at the food.

Then at Huo Jingchen.

He barely touched anything.

He only occasionally lifted his wine glass.

She frowned slightly.

He isn’t eating.

She didn’t know why.

After eating her cooking twice that day, Huo Jingchen seemed to have developed a strange preference for her food.

He didn’t seem interested in the dishes in front of him.

Xi Yunxui glanced at him.

Is he really going to drink wine on an empty stomach?

She almost wanted to tell him not to.

But this wasn’t her place.

She remained quiet.

Fortunately, the business discussion proceeded smoothly.

There were no arguments.

No sudden disagreements.

No accidents.

Nothing went wrong.

Xi Yunxui quietly relaxed.

Perhaps this mission won’t be difficult after all.

---

After some time, the contract was almost finalized.

Xi Yunxui suddenly stood.

"Young Master."

Huo Jingchen looked at her.

"I’ll excuse myself for a moment."

He nodded.

She quietly left the room.

The moment the door closed behind her, she stopped.

She looked left.

Then right.

Where is the restroom?

She had completely forgotten to ask.

She looked around helplessly.

Fortunately, a waiter happened to walk past.

"Excuse me."

The waiter stopped.

"Yes, Miss?"

"Where is the restroom?"

The waiter immediately pointed down the corridor.

"It’s at the end of the hallway. The restroom on the left is the VIP restroom."

"Thank you."

Xi Yunxui followed his instructions.

When she entered the restroom, she stopped again.

Her mouth fell slightly open.

Even the restroom is this big?

The VIP restroom was almost as luxurious as a small room.

There were large mirrors, comfortable seating areas, elegant sinks and beautifully decorated walls.

Xi Yunxui shook her head.

Rich people really live differently.

She walked toward the mirror.

Then she noticed someone standing nearby.

A woman was desperately trying to fix her makeup.

She looked frustrated.

She wiped one side of her face.

Then tried to correct the other.

But somehow, it only became worse.

Xi Yunxui watched for a moment.

The woman’s expression became increasingly troubled.

Finally, Xi Yunxui couldn’t help herself.

"Excuse me."

The woman suddenly looked up.

"Huh?"

She seemed startled that someone had spoken to her.

Xi Yunxui smiled.

"Would you like some help?"

The woman stared at her.

Then glanced at her own reflection.

Her makeup was indeed a mess.

"I..."

She hesitated.

"You know how to fix this?"

Xi Yunxui looked at the makeup kit in the woman’s hands.

She didn’t recognize every item immediately.

But the memories of the original Xi Yunxui helped her understand what they were used for.

Foundation.

Powder.

Concealer.

Blush.

Lip color.

Everything slowly became familiar.

Xi Yunxui nodded.

"I think I can help."

The woman looked uncertain for a moment.

Then handed her the makeup kit.

"Alright."

Xi Yunxui took it.

She examined the woman’s face carefully.

Then smiled.

"Don’t worry."

She picked up one of the makeup brushes.

"I’ll fix it."
