Chapter 376: Chapter 376 The Decision made 1

Talia’s POV

I woke to sunlight streaming through the window.

The morning light was warm and golden, and it fell across my face like a gentle touch. I blinked against the brightness, and I felt the warmth of Kaelen’s body beside me. His arm was still draped across my waist, and I could feel his steady breathing against my back. The fire had burned down to ash in the hearth, and the room was filled with the soft glow of dawn.

I could hear the birds singing outside the window, and I could feel the gentle breeze coming through the curtains. The world was waking up around us, and for the first time in days, I felt like I was waking up with it.

I lay there for a moment, and I let myself feel the peace of the morning. The fear was still there, but it was softer now. It was not gone, but it was no longer in control. The night before had changed something between us. We had both admitted our fears, and we had held each other through them.

And now, in the light of the new day, I felt stronger.

I turned in Kaelen’s arms, and I saw that he was already awake. He was watching me, and I saw the love in his gray eyes. He had been awake for a while, I could tell, but he had not moved. He had just held me, letting me sleep.

I could see the exhaustion in his eyes, with the dark circles that had formed from too many sleepless nights. But I could also see the love, and the relief, and the hope. He had been watching over me, just like he always did.

"Good morning," Kaelen said, and his voice was soft.

I smiled, and I reached up to touch his face. My fingers brushed against his jaw, and I felt the stubble that had grown there overnight. "Good morning, my Alpha."

Kaelen turned his head, and he pressed a kiss to my palm. "You slept well?" He asked.

I nodded, and I felt the warmth spreading through my chest. "I did. For the first time in days, I did." I replied.

Kaelen smiled, and I saw the relief in his eyes. "That is very good. You really needed it."

I looked at him, and I felt the words rising in my chest. I had been thinking about this all night, even in my sleep. And now, in the morning light, I knew what I had to do.

"Kaelen," I said, and my voice was steady. "I have made my decision."

Kaelen looked at me, and I saw the curiosity in his gray eyes. He did not push me, he just waited.

"What decision, Talia?" Kaelen asked.

I took a breath, and I let the words come. "I am not going to run, and I am not going to hide, Kaelen. I am going to fight."

The words felt right coming out of my mouth, like they had been waiting there all along. I had been running from this decision for days, and now that I had finally made it, I felt lighter, and I felt free.

Kaelen looked at me, and I saw the pride in his eyes. He did not smile, and he did not cheer. He just looked at me, and I saw the love and the respect in his gaze.

"Are you sure?" Kaelen asked.

I nodded, and I felt the certainty settling in my chest. "I am sure. I am the last Silvertongue, and I will not let our bloodline end in fear. I will stand with my pack, and most importantly, I will stand with you."

Kaelen reached for me, and he pulled me into his arms. He held me tight, and I felt his lips press against my forehead.

"I am proud of you, Talia," Kaelen said, and his voice was thick with emotion.

I pressed my face into his chest, and I let myself breathe. "I could not have made this decision without you."

Kaelen pulled back, and he looked at me. "You made this decision on your own, Talia. I just helped you see that you were strong enough to make it." he said.

I smiled, and I felt the tears burning in my eyes. "What happens now?" I asked.

Kaelen looked at me, and I saw the determination in his gray eyes. "Now we tell the pack, because they need to know that we are fully ready for battle."

I nodded, and I felt the weight of what was coming settling over me. "Then let us go."

We climbed out of bed, and I walked to the bathroom.

The water was warm, and I let it wash away the remnants of the night. I washed my hair, and I let the heat soothe my tired muscles. When I was finished, I dried myself and walked back into the room.

Kaelen was already dressed, and he was sitting on the edge of the bed. He looked up when I entered, and I saw the love in his gray eyes.

"You are beautiful," Kaelen said, and his voice was soft.

I smiled, and I walked to him. "You are biased."

Kaelen shook his head. "I am honest."

I smiled, and I kissed his forehead. But before I could pull away, Kaelen’s hand caught my wrist, and he pulled me down onto the bed beside him.

"Kaelen," I said, and my voice was breathless. "We have a meeting to get to."

Kaelen did not answer with words. Rather, he answered with his lips.

He kissed my forehead, then my cheek, then the corner of my jaw. His lips were warm against my skin, and I felt the shiver run down my spine. He kissed my neck, and he lingered there, breathing me in.

"You smell like lavender," Kaelen murmured against my skin. "And something else. Something that is just you."

I felt the heat rising in my cheeks, and I felt the familiar pull of the bond between us. "Kaelen, we... can...not. The pack... the pack is waiting." I gasped.

Kaelen pulled back, and he looked at me. His gray eyes were dark with desire, and I saw the hunger in them. "Let them wait a few more minutes." He said.

I laughed, and I pushed against his chest. "You are impossible."

Kaelen grinned, and he kissed my shoulder one last time before letting me go. "I know. That is why you love me."

I stood up, and I walked to the wardrobe with a smile on my cheeks, but I could still feel kaelen’s eyes on me as I moved, and I felt the warmth spreading through my chest.
