The Hidden Luna of Blackmoor Valley
Chapter 366 The grave 1
Chapter 366: Chapter 366 The grave 1
Talia’s POV
I woke to the grey light of morning filtering through the curtains.
I blinked against the soft light, and I felt the warmth of Kaelen’s body beside me.
The room was still and peaceful, and I could hear the soft sound of his breathing.
The fire had burned down to embers, and the grey light of dawn was just beginning to fill the room. It was the kind of morning that made you want to stay in bed forever, wrapped in the warmth of the one you loved.
His arm was still draped across my waist, and I could feel his steady breathing against my back. For a moment, I let myself stay still, letting the peace of the morning wash over me.
Then I felt him shift. I turned my head, and I saw that Kaelen was already awake. His eyes were open, staring at the ceiling. He was quiet, quieter than usual, and I could feel the weight of something pressing down on him.
I could see it in the way his jaw was clenched, and in the way his eyes were fixed on the ceiling. He was thinking about something, something that had been on his mind for a while. I knew him well enough to recognize the signs.
"Kaelen," I said, and my voice was soft with sleep. "You are awake."
He turned his head to look at me, and I saw the faint smile on his face. "I have been awake for a while. I just did not want to wake you."
I smiled, and I reached for his hand. "You could have. You know that I do not mind."
He squeezed my hand, and I felt the warmth of his fingers against mine. "I know. But you needed the rest." He said.
We lay there in silence for a moment, and I felt the peace of the morning settling over us. Then I remembered something my mother had said the night before.
"Kaelen," I said, and my voice was soft. "My mother was talking about your father last night. She was remembering how good of a wolf he was. She said he had a kind heart."
Kaelen was quiet for a moment, and I saw something shift in his gray eyes. "She spoke about him?"
I nodded. "She said he was brave, and she also said that he always tried to protect everyone, even when it cost him everything."
Kaelen was silent for a long moment, and I could see the thoughts churning behind his eyes. Then he spoke, and his voice was barely a whisper.
"I want to visit his grave, Talia. I have not been there in years."
I looked at him, and I felt the love in my chest. "Then we will go together." I replied.
He pulled me closer, and I felt his arms around me. "Thank you, Talia. For understanding."
I pressed my face into his chest, and I felt the warmth of his body against mine. "I will always understand, Kaelen. I will always be here for you."
We lay there for a while longer, wrapped in each other’s arms. Then I felt Kaelen shift, and I heard him speak.
"Come, Talia," he said. "Let us get ready. I want to go before the day gets too warm."
I nodded, and we climbed out of bed.
I walked to the window, and I looked out at the valley below. The mist was rising from the ground, and the first rays of sunlight were breaking through the clouds. It was a beautiful morning, and I felt the peace settling over me.
I turned to Kaelen, and I saw him watching me. "I will mindlink Nora to bring us food," I said. "That way we can eat before we go."
He nodded. "That is a good idea."
I closed my eyes, and I reached for the mindlink. "Nora, can you hear me?"
Nora’s voice came through almost immediately. "Luna! Yes, I can hear you. What do you need?"
I could hear the smile in her voice, and I felt a surge of gratitude for her. She had been with us through so much, and she never complained. She was always there, and always ready to help.
I smiled at the warmth in her voice. "Can you bring breakfast to our room? Kaelen and I need to eat before we go out."
"Of course, Luna. I will have everything ready within the hour." Nora responded.
I smiled. "Thank you, Nora. You are a lifesaver." I said.
I opened my eyes, and I looked at Kaelen. "She will bring food within the hour."
He smiled, and I saw the gratitude in his gray eyes. "Thank you, Talia."
I walked to him, and I took his hand. "Come, let us bathe before the food arrives."
We walked to the bathroom together, and I felt the warmth of his hand in mine.
The bathroom was small but cozy, and the steam was already beginning to rise from the water. I could smell the lavender in the air, and I felt the tension beginning to leave my shoulders. I realized that this was exactly what I needed.
The water was warm, and we bathed together in comfortable silence. We did not need to speak, because we just needed to be together.
