Chapter 330 Complete Reunion
Chapter 330: Chapter 330 Complete Reunion
Talia’s POV
The crowd was still pressing around my mother, and I could see her trying to greet everyone.
She was smiling and laughing, but I could also see the exhaustion creeping into her eyes. She had been through so much, and now she was surrounded by strangers who loved her.
I watched her, and I felt a surge of pride. She was handling it better than I had expected, and I realized that she was stronger than she knew.
Then I saw a familiar figure pushing through the crowd. She was moving fast, and I could see the determination in her eyes.
It was Piper.
I had not realized she had left my side. She must have slipped away while I was watching the pack surround my mother. Now she was crying, and I could see the tears streaming down her face as she fought her way through the crowd.
"Piper!" I called out, but she did not hear me. She was focused on one thing and one thing only.
Piper did not stop, and she did not slow down. She pushed through the pack, ignoring the startled looks and the muttered protests. She was like a force of nature, and nothing was going to stop her from reaching my mother.
"Let me through!" I heard her saying. "Please, let me through!"
The pack parted for her, and I watched her rush toward my mother. I felt Kaelen’s hand on my arm, holding me back.
"Let her have this, Talia," he said, and his voice was soft. "She needs this."
I nodded, and I watched.
Piper reached my mother, and she threw her arms around her. I saw my mother stumble back in surprise, and I saw the confusion on her face. Then Piper spoke, and her voice was broken with tears.
"I missed you so much," she sobbed. "I missed you every single day, Seraphina."
My mother froze, and I saw the recognition dawning in her tired eyes. She looked at Piper’s face, and I watched the years fall away from her.
"Piper?" she whispered. "Little Piper?"
Piper nodded frantically, and I saw her pressing her face into my mother’s shoulder. "It is me, Seraphina. It is me."
My mother’s arms wrapped around Piper, and I saw the tears streaming down her face. "My little Piper! You are so grown up, and you are so beautiful."
Piper pulled back, and I saw the tears on her face. "I thought I would never see you again. I thought I had lost you forever."
My mother reached up, and she wiped the tears from Piper’s cheeks with her trembling fingers. "I am here, Piper. I am here, and I am not going anywhere."
Piper shook her head, and I saw the grief and the joy mixing together in her eyes. "When you disappeared, I did not know what to do. I had lost my parents, and then I lost you. I thought I was all alone in the world."
My mother pulled her close again, and I saw her holding Piper like she was her own child. "You were never alone, Piper. You had Talia, you had the pack, and you had me in your heart. I was always with you."
Piper nodded, and I saw her smiling through her tears. "I know, I know. But I still missed you so much, Seraphina. There were so many nights when I cried myself to sleep because I needed you. I needed my mother."
I felt the tears streaming down my face as I watched them. I had known Piper my whole life, and I had known how much she missed my mother. But I had never seen her like this. This was raw, unguarded, and completely vulnerable.
I walked closer, and I heard my mother speaking to Piper. Her voice was soft, and I could hear the love in it.
"Do you remember when you used to come to me with your scraped knees?" my mother asked, and I could hear the smile in her voice. "You would run to me, and you would cry, and I would kiss your boo-boo and make it all better."
Piper laughed, and I saw the joy on her face. "I remember, Seraphina. I remember everything. You always knew how to make me feel better. You always knew exactly what to say."
My mother smiled, and I saw the warmth in her tired eyes. "Because you were like a daughter to me, Piper. You always were. From the very first day you came to me, I loved you like my own."
Piper looked at her, and I saw the tears streaming down her face. "You were like a mother to me, Seraphina. After my parents died, you were the only one who took care of me. You were the one who made me feel safe, and you were the one who made me feel like I still had a family."
My mother squeezed her hand, and I saw the tears on her face. "And I always will be, Piper. I will always be here for you. No matter what happens, I will never leave you again."
I stood there, watching them, and I felt my heart swell with love. My mother was here, Piper was here, and we were all together. The pack was still surrounding us, but for this moment, it was just the three of us.
Kaelen walked to me, and I felt his hand on my back. "Are you okay?"
I nodded, and I felt the tears streaming down my face. "I am more than okay, Kaelen. I am happy. I am so happy."
He pulled me close, and I felt his arms wrapping around me. I pressed my face into his chest, and I let myself cry.
"You deserve this, Talia," he said, and his voice was soft. "You deserve all of this. Every single moment of it."
I pulled back, and I looked at him through my tears. "Thank you, Kaelen. Thank you for everything. Thank you for never giving up on me."
He pressed his lips to my forehead, and I felt the warmth of his kiss. "You do not have to thank me, Talia. I would do it all again. I would walk through the Ashen Lands a hundred times if it meant I could see you smile like this."
I looked at my mother and Piper, and I felt the warmth spreading through my chest. They were laughing now, and I could hear the joy in their voices. Piper was telling my mother about something that had happened on the journey, and my mother was laughing like she had not laughed in years.
I leaned into Kaelen, and I felt his arm around my waist.
"They are beautiful," I said. "They are both so beautiful."
Kaelen looked at them, and I saw the smile on his face. "They are. And they are both so lucky to have you."
I shook my head. "I am the lucky one. I have all of them, I have you, and I have everything."
He squeezed my waist. "And you deserve every bit of it, Talia."
I looked at my mother and Piper, and I felt my heart swell with love.
My heart was full.
But even as I stood there, surrounded by love and joy, I could not shake the feeling that the peace was fragile. The shadows of what lay ahead were never always far away, and I knew that this moment of happiness might not last forever.
But for now, I let myself feel it. I let myself be happy, and that was enough.
