Chapter 306: Chapter 306 The meeting point and Reunion

Kaelen’s POV

I nodded slowly, as I drew in deep breaths.

"She is alive," I said, and my voice was ragged with exhaustion. "But she is weak. She used a blood magic, and the blood magic drained her. She used everything she had to save her mother from her cell."

Piper pushed through the others, and I saw the tears on her face. "Talia! What happened to her? Is she going to be okay?"

"She saved her mother," I said, and I felt the pride mixing with the exhaustion. "She saved us all. She is a great fighter."

Jax looked at the guards behind us with their torches flickering in the distance of the darkness. "We need to move, Alpha. They are still coming, and they are getting closer."

Silas nodded with agreement. "The distraction worked, Alpha. The front gate is chaos, and they do not know we are gone yet. We still have a small window."

Cain looked at me with concern in his eyes. "Alpha, we have the horses. We can ride and put distance between us and the guards."

I nodded, and I tried to stand. But my legs would not hold me, and I collapsed back to my knees with Talia still in my arms.

Piper knelt beside me with her hand on my arm. "Kaelen, let me take her. Let me carry her for a while."

I shook my head with determination. "No, Piper. I will carry her. She is my mate, and I will not let her go."

"Alpha," Cain said, and his voice was firm. "You can barely stand. Let me help you."

I looked at him, and I saw the concern in his eyes. He was right, and I knew it. But I could not let Talia go.

Cain put his arm around me, and he helped me stand with Talia still in my arms. I held her against my chest, and I felt her heartbeat against mine. It was weak, but steady, and she was still fighting.

Seraphina stepped forward with tears on her face. She looked at Piper, and her voice was filled with emotion. "You are her pack? You are her family?"

Piper nodded with tears in her eyes. "We are her family. She is our Luna, and we would do anything for her."

Seraphina smiled, and I saw the gratitude in her tired eyes. "Thank you," she said, and her voice broke with emotion. "Thank you for taking care of my daughter. Thank you for bringing her to me."

"Let us go," Cain said with urgency. "We need to put distance between us and the guards as much as possible. We can talk later."

We started moving, and I felt the exhaustion pressing down on me with every step, but I did not stop. I could not stop, not until we were safe.

Talia stirred in my arms, and I looked down with hope in my chest. Her eyes fluttered open, and I saw the confusion in them.

"Kaelen?" she whispered, and her voice was weak and hoarse. "Where... where are we?"

"We are out, Talia," I said, and my voice was filled with relief. "We escaped, and we found the others. We are safe."

She looked around, and I saw her eyes land on Piper with recognition. "Piper? Is that really you?"

Piper was beside us in an instant with tears streaming down her face. "Talia! You are awake! You are okay!"

Talia tried to smile, but her face was too pale. "You are okay. All of you are okay. I was so worried about you."

"We are okay," Piper said, and her voice was thick with emotion. "The distraction worked, and we are all safe. We are all here."

Talia looked at me, and I saw the tears in her tired eyes. "We made it, Kaelen. We actually made it. We saved my mother."

I held her closer, and I felt the tears burning in my own eyes. "Yes, Talia. We made it. You saved your mother, and you saved us all."

She closed her eyes, and I felt her body relax against mine. She was still weak, but she was awake. She was fighting, and that was all that mattered.

"Rest," I said, and my voice was soft with love. "I have you. I will not let anything happen to you."

She nodded weakly, and I felt her breathing slow as she drifted back into sleep.

I looked ahead with determination in my heart. The Ashen Lands were behind us, the guards were behind us, and ahead of us was freedom.

"Keep moving," I said. "We are almost there, and we are almost at the border."

Jax fell into step beside me, and his voice was lighter than before. "You know, Alpha, when I signed up for this journey, I did not expect to be running for my life through the Ashen Lands."

Piper shook her head with a small smile. "Jax, you complain about everything."

"I am not complaining," Jax said with mock offense. "I am just stating the facts. This is a very long walk, or run. If I add our current state."

"It is a very long run with very scary guards," Piper said.

Jax shrugged with a grin. "That is what makes it exciting."

I almost smiled, and I felt the tension in my chest ease just a little. We were together, and we were alive. And soon, we would be free.

Silas’s voice came from behind us. "We need to find shelter, Alpha. Talia needs rest, and we all need to recover."

Cain nodded with agreement. "There is a ridge ahead, after the border. We can make camp there, and we can take watch."

"Then we go there," I said. "If we are able to loose the guards after us, then we rest, and we recover. And then we go home."

We walked into the night, and I held Talia against my chest. She was warm and alive in my arms, and I would not let her go.

Not now, and not ever.
