The Hidden Luna of Blackmoor Valley
Chapter 207 The Silver Dagger Pt 2
Chapter 207: Chapter 207 The Silver Dagger Pt 2
Talia’s POV
He reached into a drawer and pulled out a shiny silver dagger.
I watched his movements, slow and deliberate, like he was handling something sacred. The dagger gleamed in the firelight, and I could see the care that had been taken to preserve it.
The blade was old but well-kept, and the hilt was carved with intricate patterns. The metal caught the firelight and glowed.
"This belonged to your mother," he said, staring at the Dagger, then at me.
The words hit me like a wave, and I felt the air leave my lungs. This was not just any dagger, this was my mother’s. The one she had carried, and the one she had trusted with her life.
"She gave it to me for safekeeping, when she came to Blackmoor Valley to see Kaelen’s father, before she disappeared. She wanted you to have it when you were ready." He said.
I stared at the dagger, my mother’s dagger.
The thought sent a shiver down my spine, as I imagined her hands wrapped around the hilt, with her eyes fierce and determined. I was proud to know that she had been a warrior, just like me.
She had held it, used it, and trusted it with her life. And now, it was mine.
I reached out and took it, as tears blurred my eyes, but I blinked them back.
The metal was cool against my palm, and I could feel the weight of it, both physical and emotional. It was not just a weapon, it was a legacy.
My hands were shaking, and I felt the weight of it in my palm, but it was not heavy.
I could have held it in one hand easily, but it felt like it carried the weight of everything my mother had been through. The years of captivity, the hope that someone would come for her, and the love she had never stopped feeling for me.
It also felt like it carried the weight of fifteen years.
"She wanted you to have it," Grandfather Aldric said again.
His voice was soft, and I could hear the emotion behind his words. He had kept this secret for so long, and now it was finally in my hands.
"She knew you would need it one day." He continued.
I looked at the blade, and I felt the tears prick at my eyes again. It was old and worn, but it was still sharp. It was a piece of my mother, a symbol of her strength and her love.
I could feel her presence in the metal, and her spirit woven into the blade. It was like holding a piece of her soul, and I vowed to carry it with me until I could return it to her.
I clutched it to my chest, and I felt the warmth of the metal against my skin. "Thank you," I whispered.
Grandfather Aldric nodded. "Take care of it, and take care of yourself."
I nodded, stood up and walked to the door. I looked back at him, and I smiled. "I will."
I walked back to my room, with the dagger clutched in my hands.
I could not stop looking at it, and I kept turning it over and over in my hands. Every detail, every scratch, and every mark on the blade told a story, and I wanted to know them all.
I turned it over and over, tracing the edges of the blade with my thumb. It was sharp and deadly, but it was also beautiful.
The silver gleamed in the light, and I could see my reflection in the polished surface. It was a weapon, yes, but it was also a reminder of who I was and where I came from.
I would carry it with me to the Ashen Lands, I would use it to protect myself and my pack, and I would use it to find my mother.
I pushed open the door to my room and stepped inside. Kaelen was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for me, and his eyes moved to the dagger in my hands.
"What is that?" he asked.
I walked to him and showed him the blade. "It was my mother’s. Grandfather Aldric gave it to me."
Kaelen took it from my hands and examined it, and his fingers traced the patterns on the hilt.
He handled it like he knew its worth, and like he understood the significance of what it meant to me. He did not say anything, but I could see the respect in his eyes.
"It is beautiful," he said.
I nodded. "I am going to carry it with me, to the Ashen Lands."
He looked at me, and his gray eyes were soft. "Good. It will keep you safe."
Then he handed it back to me, and I clutched it to my chest.
I felt the warmth of his hand on mine for just a moment, and I knew he was trying to give me strength through that simple touch.
I would carry my mother’s gift with me, I would use it to protect myself and my pack, and I would use it to find my mother.
No matter what it took.
