Chapter 141: Chapter 141 Her Control 1

Talia’s POV

I stood in the clearing, and I was a wolf.

My paws were planted on the soft grass, and my silver fur with streaks of gold felt strange and new. But it also felt right, like I had been waiting for this my whole life.

Kaelen stared at me. His gray eyes were wide, and his lips were parted. He looked like he had never seen anything like me before.

I took a step toward him, then I took another step. My paws felt odd on the ground, but also natural, like I had done this a thousand times in my dreams.

Kaelen reached out and touched my fur. His fingers were gentle, and his gray eyes were soft.

"You are amazing," he said.

Lyra felt happy under his touch. She liked his attention, but she had always liked him.

I knew that I needed to learn how to move in this body, and I needed to run.

Kaelen stepped back, and his eyes lost focus for a moment. Which meant that he was mind-linking someone.

I watched his face as he communicated silently with another person. His jaw tightened, then relaxed, then tightened again. Whatever he was saying, it was important. But I knew that he was choosing me, choosing this moment, and choosing to be here with me. I did not know what the other person thought, and I did not care.

All I knew in this moment was that, Kaelen was mine.

When his eyes cleared, he looked at me. "I told Cain to handle the rest of the day. So no one will come looking for us."

Then he began to undress.

He pulled his shirt over his head. His chest was bare, and I could see the scars on his skin. Then he removed his pants and his boots. His body was strong, and I watched him without shame.

Then he closed his eyes.

His body began to change. His bones cracked and shifted, his muscles stretched and grew, and dark fur sprouted from his skin. Within moments, a large black wolf stood before me.

His wolf was dark as night. But his eyes were still that same gray ones, that were sharp and warm at the same time.

He stepped toward me and sniffed my fur. Then he nudged my shoulder with his nose.

The touch was gentle and affectionate, like he was saying, "I am here, and I am with you. You are not alone." I leaned into him, pressing my fur against his. His warmth seeped into me, steady and strong.

Lyra wagged her tail, and I felt her happiness like sunshine in my chest.

Kaelen’s wolf nudged my shoulder again, and I instantly knew what he wanted me to do. He wanted me to run, and Lyra was ready. She pressed against my skin, feeling eager to move, and eager to feel the wind.

So I ran.

My paws pounded against the soft earth, and the wind rushed past my fur. The trees blurred around me, and I was faster than I had ever imagined, and stronger than I had ever dreamed.

Kaelen ran beside me. His dark wolf was a shadow at my side, keeping up with me, and guiding me. We jumped over fallen logs, we dodged between trees, and we splashed through a shallow stream, and the cold water felt good on my paws.

I felt free.

For the first time in my life, I was not hiding, I was not pretending, and I was not afraid.

The forest opened up around me, and I felt like I could run forever. My legs were strong, my lungs were full, and my heart was light. I had spent fifteen years locked in a storage room, hiding from the world. But now, I was a wolf, and I was just running free.

Lyra was in control, but I was still there. I could feel everything, from the wind in my fur, to the earth beneath my paws, and down to the joy swelling in my chest.

We ran for a long time through the forest, up the hills, and down into the valleys. Kaelen stayed beside me the whole time, as his dark fur brushed against my silver coat, and I felt safe.

When we finally stopped, I was breathing hard. My tongue hung out, and my chest rose and fell with each breath.

But I was smiling. I could feel the smile even in this body.

I was so happy because I did it. I controlled my wolf.

The words echoed in my head. I had been afraid for so long, afraid I was broken, afraid I would never shift, and afraid my wolf did not exist.

But she was here.

She had always been here, waiting, watching, and protecting. And now, I had finally let her out. The joy was overwhelming, and I wanted to howl.

Lyra was proud of me. I could feel her warmth in my chest, flowing steady and strong. She had waited so long for this moment, we both had. And now that it was here, I did not want it to end.

After a while, I wanted to shift back to my human form. So I closed my eyes and reached for my human form, and the change began. My bones shifted, my muscles shrank, and my fur faded away.

When I opened my eyes, I was myself again. I was naked and tired, but I was very happy.
