Chapter 382: 382: Fourth Brother Gets Teased
Chapter 382: Chapter 382: Fourth Brother Gets Teased
The embrace in the car was a reunion after many years.
There wasn’t any ambiguity or romance, just warmth and hardship.
The world of adults doesn’t operate with many rules—all it holds is a patchwork of pain!
Shen Boyi’s phone rang, the ringtone exclusive to the Shen Family came along with a burst of peculiar music.
Jin Qingzhou nudged Shen Boyi.
“Your phone…”
Shen Boyi didn’t let go and instead used his other hand to fish out the phone from the pocket of the suit jacket draped over Jin Qingzhou.
He pressed the answer button, and Shen Jishi’s voice came through on the other end.
“Big brother! Are you out of your mind? You sent that Miss Xu to find me?”
“I asked her to seek you and the third brother out; it seems she picked you.”
Shen Jishi squatted in the alley, staring at Xu Xiaoru who leaned casually against the alley’s exit, smiling sweetly at him.
“Big brother, don’t you know this woman is crazy? I’ve been feuding with her since school! Feuding!”
Xu Xiaoru and Shen Jishi were classmates in law school, though one studied international law while the other specialized in criminal procedure.
Shen Jishi wished he could just die on the spot.
Shen Boyi replied calmly, “Well, since you already know each other, cooperation should be easier.”
“Big brother, you’re seriously out to ruin me! You’re just a single dog anyway—why not just cooperate with her yourself? Besides, business alliances are pretty common in our circle.”
“No thanks, I have a girlfriend.”
A giant question mark slowly appeared in Shen Jishi’s mind.
“Huh? You have a girlfriend? Since when? Why don’t I know about this?”
Shen Boyi didn’t bother avoiding Jin Qingzhou while answering the call. He raised an eyebrow and looked at the woman so close to him, flashing a smirking smile.
“See? If you don’t want me, I’d have to resort to a business alliance marriage.”
Jin Qingzhou still had tears on her face.
Shen Boyi’s sudden words left her feeling uneasy.
Shen Jishi grew even angrier.
“Big brother, you dumped this violent woman on me and went off to enjoy your love life? Shen Boyi, you beast! I’m going to tell Mom on you!”
Shen Boyi replied calmly, “Go ahead—twenty-something years old and still crying to Mom.”
Furious, Shen Jishi hung up the phone and immediately called Zuo Wanjun to complain.
Upon hearing that Xu Xiaoru had gone to find Shen Jishi, Zuo Wanjun casually peeled off the face mask on her cheeks.
“Xiaoxiao came to find you? Not your big brother?”
“Big brother is busy flaunting his romance! Mom, don’t you think big brother is being outrageous… Hello? Mom? Mom!”
Zuo Wanjun had already hung up the phone halfway through his sentence.
Listening to the dull tone from the other end, Shen Jishi was on the verge of an emotional breakdown!
He rubbed his temples and stood up, sulking as he stared at Xu Xiaoru. “Listen, Xu Xiaoru, coming to me won’t help—I, Shen Jishi, don’t care for the business gains of an arranged marriage. And besides…”
He shrugged.
“I don’t care for you either.”
Xu Xiaoru snorted coldly, her previously demure demeanor vanishing entirely.
She pulled out a slim ladies’ cigarette, lit it up, and as her sleeve slid down, a colorful ukiyo-e tattoo on her arm came into view.
“I told you, if you can beat me, I’ll let you go. If you can’t, you’d better agree to my proposition obediently.”
“You violent maniac! Don’t think I won’t hit a woman!”
Mom even arranged for Xu Xiaoru to have a blind date with Big Brother, clearly unaware of this woman’s true nature!
She was hardly the timid Lin Daiyu but instead an obstinate and unreasonable demoness!
Xu Xiaoru exhaled a puff of smoke, her eyes narrowing slightly, radiating an intoxicating charm.
“Young Master Shen looks so attractive—surely he’d look just as beautiful crying?”
Shen Jishi felt profoundly insulted.
The catch? Xu Xiaoru was a former international judo champion—going up against her wasn’t something your average person could manage.
His gaze darted toward the people passing outside the alley, and Shen Jishi shouted wildly.
“Qingwu, save me!!”
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Qingwu stepped back a few paces toward the alley entrance, and there, amidst a pile of trash bins, stood her flashy, boastful Fourth Brother.
“Fourth Brother? What are you doing here?”
“Qingwu! This woman is trying to harm me!”
Qingwu’s gaze settled on Xu Xiaoru, who leaned against the wall.
This seductive-looking woman seemed soft and unassuming, but the tattoo on her arm stood out starkly—and upon seeing Qingwu, she hastily stubbed out her cigarette.
Grinning awkwardly, she moved closer.
“Master! I’ve missed you so much!”
Qingwu pushed her away in disdain.
“Didn’t I tell you not to smoke? If you refuse to listen and harm yourself, don’t bother coming to me for medical help anymore.”
Knowing she was in the wrong, Xu Xiaoru clung to Qingwu’s arm, refusing to let go!
If it hadn’t been for Qingwu teaching her judo, allowing her to carve out a position for herself in the Xu Family, she might’ve been torn limb from limb by that bunch ages ago, with nothing left of her but bone shards.
To Xu Xiaoru, Qingwu was the greatest benefactor of her life!
Qingwu glanced at Shen Jishi. “Don’t tell me you didn’t know this is my brother?”
Xu Xiaoru chuckled sheepishly. “I didn’t, honestly. I knew Master was part of the Shen Family, but the Shen Family in Beijing is enormous. Countless kids from the branches too! Plus, I only just found out that he’s Shen Jishi himself.”
The monsters and freaks in the Xu Family already kept her plenty occupied.
She hardly had the energy to identify all the Shen Family’s members.
Watching Xu Xiaoru clinging to Qingwu relentlessly, Shen Jishi grew exasperated and rushed forward to pry her off.
“Get away from my sister! She wouldn’t cooperate with you either! Just give up!”
“My sister doesn’t like women, and she’s about to get engaged—it’s hopeless for you, you freak! Stay away from her!”
Upon learning Shen Jishi was Qingwu’s biological brother, Xu Xiaoru toned down her aggressive demeanor.
Acting sweetly, she whined, “Master, I didn’t mean it… Mommy forced me to meet a Shen Family young master, threatening not to let me eat otherwise. It’s really been tough for me too.”
Qingwu patted Xu Xiaoru’s head.
“Then come back to the Shen Family to eat dinner with me. As for the date… that depends on whether my brother is willing—don’t try to force it.”
“Mhm mhm! Fourth Young Master Shen is far too fierce; I’m really scared.”
Shen Jishi: “…”
And who, exactly, is supposed to be the fierce one?
Who cornered him into this narrow alley, refusing to let him leave? Who is that supposed to be?
Xu Xiaoru curved her brows into crescents, her smile carrying a hint of deeper meaning.
“Fourth Young Master Shen and I were classmates before. We had a fantastic relationship, isn’t that right, Fourth Young Master Shen?”
Shen Jishi rubbed his sore arm, stared at his sister’s concerned expression, and gritted his teeth before replying.
“Yes! Our relationship is very, very good!”
Having received the answer she wanted, Xu Xiaoru snuggled closer to Qingwu, rubbing against her affectionately.
“Master, I’m almost finished with what I need to do, but for now I’ll need to borrow the Shen Family’s resources for a bit.”
Qingwu replied calmly, “I’m part of the Shen Family too. Whatever you need, I’ll help you.”
Xu Xiaoru’s eyes lit up!
Her Master really was too good to her!
Then she hesitated and muttered, “…But you can’t actually marry me either, right?”
