The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne
Chapter 1063: Corvin’s Deepest Thoughts
Inside a tent, Corvin stood by a round table.
Across from him stood a tall, middle-aged man with golden hair.
He wore golden armor that covered his entire body, except for his head.
His eyes were blue, but his right eye had been damaged in battle, leaving him blind in that eye.
"Thank you, General Arkam. If it weren’t for your help, the rebel forces would have been defeated much sooner," Corvin said politely, clasping his hands together and bowing his head slightly.
The condescending and arrogant attitude he had shown toward Elina on the battlefield seemed to have vanished.
Now, he treated Arkam with great respect and sincerity.
Arkam nodded slightly.
"You’re welcome. Helping you was His Majesty’s order, after all. I was simply doing my duty."
Corvin smiled at his response.
"By the way, how many of your men were killed?"
"Almost all of them. Fewer than two thousand remain."
Corvin let out a bitter chuckle, feeling both frustrated and helpless.
His forces had truly been decimated this time. Some had fallen in Butterfly Wing Valley while serving as bait, while the rest had been slaughtered by the imperial forces on the battlefield earlier.
"Fewer than two thousand?"
Arkam raised his eyebrows slightly. He fell silent for a moment before slowly nodding.
"Very well. That’s fine. Your task, along with those of the others, is complete. Leave the rest to me and Valtanir’s forces."
Corvin simply nodded.
The two then began discussing their strategy for the following day’s battle.
Valtanir’s forces had arrived with limited supplies, and whether they liked it or not, they would have to defeat the imperial forces to advance deeper into the southern region.
As they discussed their attack plan, Corvin suddenly remembered Elyan.
"Oh, right. General, where is Elyan, the Swordmaster of Light?"
Arkam’s expression immediately darkened.
"He... passed away."
"Passed away...!?"
Corvin’s eyes widened in shock.
"That’s right."
Arkam nodded heavily.
"The Singularity of Light told me earlier. He brought Elyan’s body back to the empire."
Corvin fell silent. Then, he suddenly recalled what had happened on the battlefield earlier.
The Singularity of Light had appeared in the sky as a thunder avatar, shouting angrily as he called out the name of the Singularity of Chaos.
’Did Evalyn Lionheart kill Elyan? The Singularity of Light must have shown up to avenge his disciple, only for the Singularity of Chaos to step in and protect Evalyn. Is that what happened?’
The thought sent a chill down Corvin’s spine. Both the Singularity of Light and the Singularity of Chaos were beings of the highest standing.
In their eyes, an ordinary person like him was probably no more than an ant.
Yet, both of them had appeared on the battlefield that afternoon.
’So the rumors are true. Elina Lorian really does have the backing of the Singularity of Chaos,’ he muttered, swallowing hard. ’What should I do?’
If Elina really summoned the Singularity of Chaos on the battlefield tomorrow, Corvin could only imagine the kind of chaos that would follow for him and the entire Valtanir army.
Arkam frowned as he noticed the change in Corvin’s expression.
"What’s wrong?" he asked.
Corvin snapped out of his thoughts. He shook his head and replied nervously, "N-No, I’m fine."
Arkam raised an eyebrow, growing suspicious. He could tell Corvin was hiding something from him.
Still, he didn’t bother asking any further questions and let it go.
"Either way, we need to be careful of Evalyn Lionheart. She managed to kill Elyan, the Swordmaster of Light, and even drew the wrath of the Singularity of Light. She’s a serious threat."
Arkam’s eyes flashed with a chilling glint. They had to win this war.
Otherwise, all the plans they had carefully laid out would fall apart.
Corvin simply nodded without saying a word.
"By the way," Arkam continued, "what about the Celestial Mage you brought with you? When will he make his move?"
"Tomorrow," Corvin replied calmly. "He’s our final trump card. I deliberately saved him for last."
"A wise decision." Arkam nodded in satisfaction. "It seems we made the right choice entrusting this rebellion to you. Don’t worry. His Majesty Dariel will reward you once everything is over."
Hearing the praise and promise, Corvin smiled.
No one knew—not even his own troops—that he stood to receive extraordinary rewards for leading the rebellion.
He would be granted noble status in the Holy Empire of Valtanir, a fiefdom of his own, and a vast sum of money.
Corvin had once been a poor man living along the southern border.
Even putting food on the table had been a struggle for him and his family. Eventually, when he was only ten years old, both his parents died.
They had been beaten to death by soldiers serving the baron who ruled the region where Corvin was born.
Their crime? Stealing two loaves of bread just to fill their stomachs for a day.
Ever since then, Corvin had harbored a deep hatred for the nobility. His hatred ran so deep that he wanted to tear them all apart—the very people who lived in luxury off the suffering of the poor.
So, when the Holy Empire of Valtanir approached him with an offer a few months ago, he accepted without hesitation.
Loyalty to the empire?
That was nothing but bullshit!
The empire had never been there when he and the other poor people were suffering.
So why should he care about loyalty?
He wouldn’t stop until he achieved his goal.
He licked his lips and whispered under his breath.
’Just you wait. I’ll wipe you all out and take everything you own... Hehehe...’
...
"Mhm... Finally, I’m done."
Isabella stretched, trying to loosen up her stiff body. Her beautiful, curvy figure was clearly visible beneath her dress.
She leaned back in her chair and looked at the stack of documents in front of her.
"Being a leader is such a pain. And yet, so many people want the job," she muttered.
She didn’t blame them, though.
Everyone had their own goals, including her daughter, Elina.
"Thank goodness I got out of Izanagi. Now I don’t have to deal with any of that." Isabella chuckled to herself.
Just dealing with the paperwork was already giving her a headache. She couldn’t imagine how much worse it would be to actually lead a country.
Knock! Knock!
There was a knock on the door, followed by a cheerful maid’s voice.
"Concubine Isabella, sorry to bother you! I have good news! Her Highness Seira has woken up!"
