The Hidden Extra: The Lazy Prince Refuses to Ascend The Throne
Chapter 1045: A Plan to Meet the Dragon Ancestor
A soldier rode up to Corvin, calling out, "General, we’ve received word from our spies!"
Corvin slowed his horse, and the soldiers behind him did the same.
"Speak," he ordered.
"Elina Lorian and her forces have all teleported to Corvil. They’re waiting for us," the soldier reported nervously. "What should we do now?"
He hadn’t expected Elina Lorian to come up with such a crazy plan.
The Corvil Plains and Butterfly Wing Valley were separated by a vast distance.
Yet, using teleportation magic, she had managed to transport tens of thousands of soldiers straight to the Corvil Plains.
For the first time, the soldier was overcome by a paralyzing sense of fear. He couldn’t shake the feeling that they were about to suffer a crushing defeat.
"Teleportation magic?"
Corvin was momentarily surprised before bursting into laughter.
"Interesting... Truly interesting! Elina Lorian is nothing like the rumors suggested. I underestimated her."
His eyes flashed with madness.
"We’ll press on!"
The soldier stared at him in disbelief.
"B-But—"
"No ’buts.’ That’s my decision," Corvin cut in coldly. "Sooner or later, we’ll have to face them. We might as well do it now. Once we’ve dealt with this major obstacle, the rest of the conquest will go smoothly."
The soldier bit his lower lip. He wanted to voice his concerns but hesitated, unsure if he should speak up.
"Are you worried about the difference in our numbers?" Corvin asked casually.
The soldier was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Corvin to see through his thoughts so easily.
"Don’t worry. I’m not that stupid."
Corvin chuckled softly.
"We’ll be receiving reinforcements soon. And the numbers are no joke—forty thousand soldiers."
"Forty thousand!?"
The soldier was stunned.
That was even more than the number of troops the empire had sent to block their advance.
Corvin merely smiled without saying another word.
He then turned to the man riding beside him and gave him a knowing look.
"Are you ready to face your siblings on the battlefield, Prince Aldric?"
The man remained silent, urging his horse to go faster.
Seeing this, Corvin chuckled and sped up his own horse.
The army pressed onward, moving faster and faster. From a distance, they looked like a mass of black clouds sweeping across the desolate, silent Andros Plains.
...
"Arnold."
Whoosh!
Arnold emerged from the shadows and bowed his head before Nolan.
"What are your orders, my Lord?"
"How is Elina faring on the battlefield?" Nolan asked, folding his arms behind his back. "Have there been any developments?"
Arnold shook his head.
"Not yet. However, Princess Elina did engage the enemy forces. Unfortunately, they turned out to be nothing more than a decoy. The main force has already retreated to the Andros Plains."
"The Andros Plains?"
Nolan was slightly surprised.
He knew that place well. The Andros Plains were shrouded in an extraordinarily powerful magical field.
Any ordinary mage who remained there for too long risked losing their life.
"So, what are Elina, Freya, and Evalyn doing?"
"They used a teleportation spell to travel from Butterfly Wing Valley to the Corvil Plains, which serve as a gateway to the southern interior. The rebel forces will have to pass through there to reach the inner regions, so Her Highness Elina plans to intercept them before they can advance any further."
Nolan fell silent for a moment before chuckling softly.
"Remarkable. Was that Elina’s idea or Freya’s?"
"It was Princess Elina’s decision, my Lord."
Arnold’s voice was flat, but Nolan could sense the pride behind his words.
Nolan raised his eyebrows slightly, a hint of suspicion creeping into his mind. However, he quickly dismissed the thought and gave a slight nod.
"By the way, I need your help. I’m heading to the Celestial Empire of Velgranth. I want to meet the Dragon Ancestor. Is that old man still alive?"
Arnold: "..."
The corner of his mouth twitched at the question.
He lowered his head before answering.
"Of course, my Lord. But if I may ask, what business do you have with the Dragon Ancestor?"
"I need his help. The dragon race is highly skilled when it comes to matters of the soul, aren’t they? Seira’s soul has been severely damaged since birth. Maybe he can do something about it."
The dragon race was renowned for its immense strength, excelling in both physical combat and magic.
They were practically perfect in every way, so much so that both humans and demons felt inferior in comparison.
Unfortunately, dragons were also extremely arrogant and stubborn. The only way to earn their recognition was to prove oneself stronger than them.
However, what many people didn’t know was that the dragon race was also highly skilled in matters of the soul. The Dragon Ancestor might be the only one capable of helping Seira.
"I understand. How about I accompany you?" Arnold asked.
Nolan waved his hand dismissively.
"No need. I’ll go alone. Just keep an eye on Seira and Elina from the shadows. If anything happens, let me know. Got it?"
Arnold hesitated. Nolan’s last encounter with the Dragon Ancestor had been a brutal battle that had nearly destroyed the western continent.
If Nolan went alone, Arnold feared the entire Celestial Empire of Velgranth might be reduced to ruins.
Noticing his concern, Nolan rolled his eyes.
"I’m not that reckless. Don’t worry, I’ll mind my manners around him. After all, I need his help."
Arnold still seemed reluctant, but since Nolan had already made up his mind, he didn’t dare argue.
He let out a long sigh and smiled wryly.
"I understand. Have a safe journey."
...
The Corvil Plains...
The Corvil Plains stretched far and wide, with lush green grass swaying beautifully in the wind.
Besides serving as a major trade route, the plains also connected the southern interior to the Andros Plains, which led to the southern border.
Although the Andros Plains were dangerous, many merchants still traveled through them.
However, ever since the rebel forces had ravaged the southern border, the trade route had become deserted. Not a single merchant could be seen.
"When are they coming?" Elina asked casually as she drew her sword and held it before her.
"They should be here any minute now," Freya replied just as casually.
The Andros Plains were vast, but on horseback, it would take only a full day to cross them.
Elina took a deep breath and slowly exhaled before turning to look at Evalyn in the distance.
She was busy arranging the soldiers into their designated formations.
"Sis, do you think Aldric is dead?"
Freya was caught off guard by the sudden question.
Her expression darkened as she narrowed her eyes.
"Most likely."
Silence fell between them.
Elina shook her head regretfully.
"His death is truly unfair."
Although she considered Aldric an enemy, she had wanted to face him in an honorable battle and end his life with her own hands.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans.
Freya patted her on the shoulder.
"Don’t dwell on it. Just focus on the battle ahead."
Elina nodded slightly.
"You’re right."
