Chapter 68: Small experiment

I saw the scene of my new experiment. Although it may look evil from the eyes of the victims, I have faith in my Void Starr. Our power is more versatile if some conditions are met.

Although in the novel I nerfed her power, I weakened it. I did not give her the conditions to awaken her power; I gave those conditions to the MC. But now I need to make her powerful, even at a very steep cost. There is even a higher chance that she would hate me, but that problem is for the future me to face.

I have faith that she would succeed, and if she doesn’t, at least that would give her a motivation to succeed.

I then said to my Livestream and performed my villain act.

"Look at this, viewers. Ain’t this beautiful? Can’t you see the beauty of soon-to-die people? The feeling of your chance of life being in the hands of someone lacking.

"Their humanity will break. Will the doctors, the nurses, and the patients be praying that they should be the one that should be safe first, that they are more important? Will they wish for the death of the old people? After all, they are already old. What more could they give, right? The future belongs to the young. The old could die. After all, they have nothing left to give, right? What would their thoughts be? I am so curious.

"If party A’s thoughts could be like that, then how would party B’s thoughts be? Would they accept their fate? Would they be glad and happy to give up their lives for the young ones? They know that they are already old and could fall down flat the next day. But will they accept their fate at death, or will they wish for something more?"

"Ah, the thoughts of humanity are so interesting. Wouldn’t you agree with me?"

(Lupingo is sounding so evil.)

(He looks cool though.)

(Evil but still cool. I think I have an evil fetish.)

(Oh, the humanity.)

(I can almost cry ??.)

(Lupingo, do a superman pose! Let’s screenshot and memorize this day.)

(What’s this madness? Can’t you see he is using human beings for his experiment? He is like all those mad scientists in movies.)

(You know some of those mad scientists are handsome.)

(So how does that matter? He is still a danger to humankind.)

(What are you talking about? Void Starr would save them, and everything will be okay. We don’t have to concern ourselves with the matter. Let’s just continue to watch and hope for the best.)

(I don’t understand the game Lupingo is trying to play. Is he trying to pit humanity against themselves?)

(I don’t know either, but all this just looks interesting. I am also curious about the choice the parties are going to take, although I am not as crazy as Lupingo to go and perform it.)

Katherine came out from the toilet, dropped her things, left her headset in the sitting room, then quickly went to her own room, but not without making up an excuse that she wanted to sleep. As soon as she reached her room, she jumped out from her window in her hero costume.

She saw the Livestream. She saw that Lupingo was calling out to her. She doesn’t know why, or what plot the villain is playing at. All she knows is that she’s the only fighting chance the victims have.

She doesn’t know if she will succeed in whatever experiment the villain is playing at, but she knows that if she did not even bother to try, that they won’t even have any fighting chance.

She knows that she can’t trust the words that come out from a villain’s mouth, but Lupingo has been trustworthy so far, and even if he is lying, she still has to try.

She was flying towards the location when she heard a sound on her earbud.

"Void Starr, we can see that you are moving towards the location. We don’t know why Lupingo chose you, and we don’t know why he’s doing this, but we understand one thing. And that one thing is that you are the only fighting chance they got. So godspeed to you, Void Starr."

....

In the hospital.

The head doctor received a phone call from his security guard.

"Hello, what’s the matter?" the man said to his security guard.

"Well, sir, there’s no problem. It is just that your hospital has been chosen to perform in a wonderful experiment."

The doctor heard the words of the caller, and the voice was not the caller’s voice at all. It was an unfamiliar female voice.

"Hello, who is this? And what nonsense are you saying? What nonsense experiment? Is this a prank call? You know I can have you arrested for this."

"Sir, calm down. This is nothing much. I haven’t finished yet, and yet you are jumping to conclusions. So just calm down and listen. It will be best for you.

"You see, my boss has decided to use you and everybody in your hospital to prove a point. You don’t have to worry much. You people are not the only ones. There is also party B. They are in the same situation you are in.

"I know I have been saying experiment and situation since, but I have not told you exactly what it entails. The experiment is not something extreme. It is just something normal. You see, your hospital has been set to explode. Nothing more. And your lives will depend on a hero to save you. So don’t fret. Your situation is stable.

"There is even a Livestream in your situation. Isn’t that fun? Will the hero succeed or fail? Is that not a nice quagmire to be put into?"

Avery said. She has decided to join Lupingo in his plans, and she is in charge of this zone. She was trying to sound like Lupingo’s act when he is playing villainy, and she believes that she succeeded in it.

"Know that your hospital is under a lockdown. Any act of defiance from anybody will result in the death of everybody. So I advise you to put yourself and everybody else in order. If not, you will die for nothing. So just wait and sit calmly on your seat and pray that the hero would be quick enough to save your lives."

Avery said and cut the call.

Void Starr flew to the location, and the location turns out to be where I am currently doing my Livestream.

I saw her floating toward me in a tight dark purple costume. Her dark hair, which tips were colored purple, flew around. She almost resembles all those beautiful goth girls.

And she is still as pretty as I saw her before. Although there was no smile on her face, that did not demean her beauty in any way. It was still there. It was just hidden under all that anger and hatred for my gut.

I don’t know if you understand the feeling of when a beautiful girl is angry at you. It has its own kind of thrill in a kind of way.

Although I sometimes wonder if I could ever date a girl like her.

In my past life, I am somehow in the mid-stage between an introvert and a normal person. I mostly prefer to be by myself, all alone. That was even my motivation in being a writer. I just prefer to indulge myself in illusions rather than reality.

Although I dated, that relationship did not really last long. A two-week relationship is still a relationship.

But now I came to the world of my creation, a world filled with beautiful girls, but I don’t really have that much time for all that. I have to survive.

If you look at it, instead of being an introvert, I am in a situation where I have to survive.

Vivian and Avery are people that are very fine. In my previous world, they are the kind that you will see on all those model tabloids, but now you will see people like them everywhere. Too much beauty but just too busy. The cruelty was just too much.

Anyway, I want to come out from my thought process. It’s not as if Void Starr will let me stay in my thoughts.

So I have to focus my mind. If not, I believe that she would take my head, then go and save the people.

"Welcome, welcome. Hope your flight was not stressful at all. I hope you still have your energy, because we can’t allow the star of the dead to be out of energy, can we?"

"Lupingo!" she shouted. "What game are you playing at? Why are you doing this? I thought you don’t kill the innocent," she said.

"Well, I won’t kill any innocent person if you succeed, right? So it’s up to you."
