The Hero is Hunting me!
Chapter 147: The Invisible Barrier
After Jinhoo took the necklace, Min-seo slowly backed away. However, she accidentally stepped on a hidden trap mechanism.
The room suddenly began to shake, and the exit they had used earlier immediately slammed shut.
Jinhoo panicked and quickly turned toward Min-seo.
Min-seo also looked confused by what had happened.
Jinhoo glanced down at Min-seo’s foot, which was still standing on the trap.
’Just as I thought... There was no way we could get all of this that easily...’
From both sides of the room, doors opened, releasing several golems.
The golems immediately began charging toward Min-seo.
As Min-seo realized what was happening, she quickly dodged using her powers.
Without Jinhoo noticing, one of the golems was also about to attack him from behind.
By reflex, Jinhoo immediately jumped to avoid the golem’s attack.
’Damn, I already used all the remaining power I had earlier just to open that door.’
Jinhoo glanced at Min-seo. Seeing the small lightning spark she had been using as a light source, he immediately opened his mouth and shouted.
"Min-seo! Throw that little lightning bolt at me!"
Min-seo, who was in the middle of fighting, immediately turned toward Jinhoo.
She glanced at the lightning spark she had been using for illumination.
Hearing his command, she immediately threw it toward Jinhoo.
The tiny bolt of lightning struck Jinhoo’s body.
"Ah... That really hurts..."
Jinhoo muttered.
After recovering a small amount of his power, Jinhoo moved his hand toward his chest.
The tiny nanomachines embedded in his clothes began moving toward his hand, forming a sword.
The golem appeared to attack Jinhoo again, but Jinhoo jumped high into the air to avoid it.
He immediately launched a counterattack.
Using his Nano Sword, he successfully sliced through the golem’s arm.
However, the golem began regenerating.
"Huh... Looks like physical attacks really don’t have much of an effect on you..."
Jinhoo muttered toward the golem in front of him.
Jinhoo landed, but the golem attacked again. Jinhoo immediately performed a backflip to evade the strike.
As he continued dodging one attack after another, Jinhoo carefully observed the golem’s movements.
’It can move quickly, but every attack is so stiff, as if something is restricting the movement of its arms.’
Just then, Jinhoo suddenly leaned against someone’s shoulder.
He glanced behind him and saw Min-seo, who also appeared to be struggling.
"Min-seo, are you okay?"
"Yeah... But my lightning doesn’t seem to work on it."
Hearing that, Jinhoo turned toward the golem Min-seo was fighting.
The golem’s appearance was the same, but Jinhoo noticed a slight difference.
Its movements weren’t stiff like the golem Jinhoo was fighting.
’I see...’
Jinhoo glanced at Min-seo again and spoke.
"Let’s switch."
Min-seo looked confused, but she didn’t ask many questions and immediately switched positions with Jinhoo.
Jinhoo did the same, taking Min-seo’s place.
As soon as they switched, Jinhoo immediately attacked the golem.
His sword sliced through both of the golem’s legs, leaving it unable to walk.
Jinhoo waited for the golem to regenerate, but there was no sign of regeneration.
’So that’s it... These golems were designed to counter supernatural powers rather than direct physical attacks.’
Jinhoo quickly swung his sword and severed the golem’s head in a single strike.
The golem immediately crumbled back into pieces of stone.
Jinhoo glanced toward Min-seo.
Min-seo had also successfully defeated the other golem with her lightning.
’They were designed to counter me and Min-seo, but they never considered that we might switch opponents.’
Once all the golems had been defeated, the exit opened again.
Jinhoo brought the hand holding his sword toward his chest. His Nano Sword dissolved back into tiny particles and retreated into his clothes.
The two of them then walked outside.
"Huh... That was really exhausting."
Min-seo stretched her body as she spoke.
"Really? We only fought those golems for a short while."
"Yeah, but still, if they’re immune to supernatural powers, it’s basically like fighting a solid wall."
"Well... At least the mechanism was fair. If it hadn’t been, that would’ve been a disaster."
After some time, they finally reached the surface.
"Ah! Light! I really missed it!"
Min-seo shouted.
Meanwhile, Jinhoo looked confused.
’This is strange... It was supposed to be nighttime earlier, so why is it suddenly daytime? Min-seo doesn’t seem to have noticed at all. I’d better stay quiet about it for now.’
"Alright, we’re done here. We should head home."
"Alright!"
Min-seo immediately grabbed Jinhoo’s hand.
"Uh... What are you doing?"
"What else? Use that teleportation of yours so we can get home quickly!"
"If I had enough energy, I would’ve used my teleportation a long time ago."
"Eh? Does that mean..."
"Yeah. I can’t use teleportation at all right now. Especially from Paris to Seoul. That would definitely consume far too much energy."
"Huh... How annoying."
Min-seo glanced at Jinhoo’s hand.
With a slightly flushed face, Min-seo spoke.
"T-then how about I take you home instead?"
"Hmm? I don’t mind, but are you sure that’s okay?"
"O-of course! But there’s one condition!"
"A condition?"
A few moments later, Jinhoo was being carried in Min-seo’s arms like a princess.
Meanwhile, Min-seo was floating in the air, preparing to head home.
"I agreed to it... But I didn’t expect it to be like this..."
Min-seo looked extremely happy.
"Alright! Then hold on tight!"
With that, Min-seo immediately flew at incredible speed.
Just as they were about to leave the city of Paris, Min-seo suddenly felt something blocking their path.
She immediately stopped.
Jinhoo looked confused.
"Why did you stop?"
"...There’s an invisible barrier."
"A barrier? Put me down first."
Min-seo immediately lowered Jinhoo to the ground.
Jinhoo slowly walked forward, but suddenly, he bumped into something.
"Ouch!"
Jinhoo touched the invisible wall.
"You’re right... There’s a barrier here."
Min-seo immediately used her powers to try to destroy the barrier.
Lightning struck the invisible wall.
But nothing changed.
"Ugh! This is starting to piss me off! Oppa! Please move a little farther away from here."
"Alright."
Jinhoo began running farther away.
Particles of lightning started swirling around Min-seo’s body. She appeared to be preparing to use her full power.
Her eyes turned bright blue.
With that, she extended both hands toward the wall.
A powerful bolt of lightning began to form and struck the wall with tremendous force.
However, the invisible wall remained completely intact without suffering even the slightest damage.
"What the hell is this transparent wall!?"
Jinhoo approached and began touching the wall.
"It seems someone trapped us here..."
’But who? I have plenty of enemies right now, but there’s no way they could know that I’m here, right?’
Jinhoo tried punching the wall with his fist.
However, he immediately felt an intense pain. When he looked at Min-seo, he pretended to be fine.
"Hmm... This wall really is incredibly strong..."
’Damn it!! I shouldn’t have punched this wall... It hurts like hell! My hand is throbbing...’
"Oppa, are you okay? You keep holding your hand."
"Uhm? U-uh... Yeah, I’m fine. My hand just feels a little sore from all the fighting we’ve been doing."
After hearing his answer, Min-seo looked slightly confused but didn’t say anything.
’But seriously... Who exactly trapped us here? I came here secretly...’
