The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered

Chapter 248 - 247: As Long as I Live, You Will Always Be Concubines

  • Next Chapter

After class, Yvonne Lowell looked out and saw the students’ eyes had all turned into dizzying spirals, as if they were completely drained of strength and thought.

They weren’t all the same students from before, but thankfully, their reactions were pretty much identical.

It wasn’t just a striking resemblance; it was a carbon copy.

Yvonne Lowell nodded in satisfaction. This perfectly matched her stereotype of how students reacted during her lectures.

Who doesn’t go a little crazy from classes and work?

Acting on habit, just as her previous students had requested, Yvonne Lowell projected the entire whiteboard of notes onto all the screens.

"Class is dismissed. Feel free to pack up and leave."

With those final words, she switched off her microphone.

The returning students immediately whipped out their phones and frantically snapped photos. Once done, they paired up with friends to go home and pore over the lecture recording, leaving only their confident figures in their wake.

They hadn’t understood much either, but they were long accustomed to this teaching style, which was unique to Professor Lowell.

Open the recording—listen to the lecture—frantically take notes—class ends—snap photos—go home and pull an all-nighter to review everything.

Most importantly, they couldn’t look clueless in front of these undergraduate underclassmen! Even if they didn’t understand a thing, they had to maintain a neutral expression.

They had already survived an entire semester with Professor Lowell. They weren’t about to be replaced by these young upstarts who thought they could coast by on their youth and climb the ranks!

This was a perfect example of: "As long as I, the empress, live, you shall forever remain mere concubines!"

Yvonne Lowell: ’...Ahem. I think you’re making our relationship sound a little too intimate.’

As for the new undergraduates, some saw what the older students were doing and instinctively took a picture as well.

They didn’t understand why, but that didn’t stop them from copying.

They were finally beginning to understand why the gap between people could be so vast...

Why was it that at roughly the same age, she was already a Lifetime Honorary Professor, while they could only sit below, slack-jawed and speechless? This single lecture made the difference painfully clear.

They had all passed Loster’s difficult entrance examinations to study at this top global institution. Anyone who met them would call them geniuses, wouldn’t they?

They even thought so themselves.

But now, in the span of a single class, Professor Lowell had given them a harsh lesson in humility.

If they could be called geniuses, then Professor Lowell was something close to a god.

Others were still in a complete daze. Upon hearing the two words "class dismissed," they walked stiffly out of the lecture hall.

Only after they had walked a good distance away did their brain cells, which had been thoroughly ravaged for the entire lecture, finally begin to revive.

So... what had they just learned?

What was it that Professor Lowell talked about again?

Oh, right. It was something about how the Teletubbies were sunbathing after waking up when they ran into Dozey the Lamb being chased across the plains by Wily Wolf. They were about to help, but Queenie Redwolf smacked them into The Cerulean Sea with her frying pan. At the bottom of the sea, they saw a restaurant called The Krusty Krab, went in, and ate all the crab meat burgers, not forgetting to use the yellow sponge in the shop to clean the place up. After eating their fill, they happened to run into the Dragon King of the West Sea, who was on his way to the Heavenly Court to file a complaint against Rook, so he gave them a ride. After successfully returning to Toddler Town, they happily started singing: Makka, Pakka, Akka, Wakka, Mikka, Makka, Mmm~

Haha, what an incredibly interesting class! [sunglasses smile]

(Please forgive me! How normal can your author be when they’re getting up to write in the middle of the night because they can’t sleep and their phone is boring? Who doesn’t go crazy from insomnia?! AHHH!!!)

...

「In the multipurpose hall.」

"Lowell, I’m afraid that lecture of yours is going to trouble a lot of people for a long time," Professor El teased.

Yvonne Lowell arched an eyebrow. "And? Once they work their way through the confusion, they might just end up thanking me."

"Fair enough. You’re absolutely right about that," Professor El agreed, nodding.

Yvonne Lowell’s lectures might have seemed disorganized, full of wild, imaginative tangents that constantly branched out.

Even the university’s own specialized course instructors could barely keep up the first time they heard her lecture. Her train of thought jumped around far too quickly!

In reality, however, she was linking everything related to a single knowledge point—whether a supporting or a conflicting concept—and weaving it all together, allowing her students to extrapolate a multitude of ideas from a single example.

You could say that every single word she spoke in class was pure, undiluted information. There simply wasn’t enough time for students to digest and memorize it all on the spot.

But if they were willing to go back and review their notes, they would discover the benefits once they’d fully digested the material.

And for that, they would sigh with heartfelt admiration: Professor Lowell deserves her own shrine!

This was why students who had taken her class had such a love-hate relationship with her. They were afraid of her coming to teach, yet also afraid that she wouldn’t.

"Lowell, your lectures are just so valuable! I truly wish you could stay on and continue teaching the students," Patrick said with a sigh.

Most importantly, they had all grown very fond of this young, brilliant woman.

She had the spirit of a seasoned, old-school academic. Every time they discussed scholarly topics with her, it was an exhilarating and deeply satisfying experience.

"Chancellor, you know I have too much other work to do. I don’t have the time," Yvonne Lowell said with an innocent shrug.

"Alright. Well, if you have time in the future, you must come back often. Even if it’s not to teach, just come and visit us. You know, we’re all very fond of you, and we love discussing things with you."

Patrick was disappointed, but he didn’t press the issue. He knew this university couldn’t hold on to someone like her.

She had founded her own company at fourteen and, in just a few short years, built it into the world’s top financial conglomerate.

And she was still so young. Her future accomplishments would surely be even greater.

To say nothing of the fact that she was a rare polymath. That was why, even knowing she wouldn’t be staying on as a regular faculty member, the board had unanimously voted to grant her the title of Lifetime Honorary Professor.

She had earned it.

When Old El had tricked her into coming back to teach for a semester, Loster had already hit the jackpot.

"Of course. I’ll come back to visit often. Besides, we have each other’s contact information, so we can always talk."

After chatting with the professors for a while longer, Yvonne Lowell and her family said their goodbyes and left Loster.

Yvonne Lowell thought her teaching duties were over for the day. But the moment she got into the car, her dear father and dear brother started peppering her with questions.

"Nola, that thing you were saying about blah blah blah, and also the other blah blah blah... what’s the connection between them?"

"And what did you mean by that ’uh-buh uh-buh’ thing...?"

Yvonne Lowell sighed internally but still diligently started a review session for them. She broke down the concepts, ground them into a fine powder (or so she thought), and spoon-fed the information to them.

Life is tough, and a girl’s gotta use her stuff.

It wasn’t until their car pulled into the manor that the thirst for knowledge of both President Lowell and Lowell was finally quenched. They felt as if their very souls had been cleansed and elevated.

After confirming that they had both understood, Yvonne Lowell leaped out of the car as if making an escape.

Just as she was about to head upstairs, Ms. Sutton’s gentle—and terrifying—voice called out from behind her.

"Professor Lowell, what was that about ’days of drinking together in the office’? Care to tell me more?"
