The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 246 - 245: The Freshmen of the Economics Department Are in for a Treat
After the bell rang, the campus began to fill with students, many of whom noticed the group of outsiders being led on a tour by Professor Vivian.
But they only gave a curious glance before turning away, offering no strange looks at their unfamiliar faces.
Although Loster was located in Country M, it wasn’t under the jurisdiction of Country M’s government but rather directly governed by the International Association.
Perhaps Country M’s Presley had never imagined that the opportunity to host the institution, which they had fought so hard for, wouldn’t even grant them a back window, let alone a back door.
They had approved a large plot of land and promised to green-light everything for them; it was a total double loss.
To gain admission to Loster, one’s character was evaluated just as much as their academic performance.
It brought together nearly ninety percent of the world’s high-IQ geniuses with excellent character, all from different parts of the globe, with different skin colors and nationalities.
Therefore, aside from forbidding any form of nepotism, Loster was extremely strict in its management of certain areas.
Students could do whatever they pleased after graduation—that had nothing to do with the school—but not while they were enrolled.
Once a violation was confirmed, it didn’t matter who you were. You would be expelled immediately and barred from admission for life.
It was no exaggeration to say that bullying and discrimination did not exist here. There was only healthy competition and mutual admiration among the best and brightest.
Geniuses are proud, and besides, everyone was busy. A break between classes was just for a breath of fresh air before diving back into difficult problems. They really didn’t have time for such nonsense.
When a person possessed enough strength and achievement and had reached a certain level...
...their skin color, nationality, race, or family background—things some people might use to attack or discriminate—would all be overshadowed by their own brilliance.
’What? You’re discriminating against me? So what?’
’I look down on you, too. It’s not like my research is for you, and I won’t be working for you in the future, so why should I care if you live or die?’
Some older students recognized Yvonne Lowell. A few were her former classmates, some were her former students, and others were students from different majors.
Some had enrolled before her, some after, but they all had one thing in common: they still hadn’t graduated.
They all just watched her from a distance, their eyes filled with excitement and admiration, but no one went up to bother her.
Meanwhile, some people were already posting on the forums to discuss it.
[I saw our school’s other Lifetime Honorary Professor! She’s so beautiful! Before the school released her photo, I never imagined she’d be such a petite girl!]
[I saw Professor Lowell, too! She’s even more beautiful than before! Oh my god, she just smiled at me. Did she recognize me? I can’t believe she’d remember me!]
’Thanks for asking, but I don’t remember you,’ Yvonne thought. ’The smile was pure courtesy.’
[Damn it! I’m still writing my paper, but I’ll get to see her this afternoon!]
[Haha, me too. I really miss the days of being crushed by the professor. I’ll definitely be the first one there this afternoon!]
[She’s just too incredible. How can the gap between people be so huge?! She makes me feel like a total newbie!]
[You’re first in our major, and you’re calling yourself a newbie?! Then you should skip the next exam and let me have first place.]
[Replying to @above: Not happening. If you want first place, you’ll have to either delay graduation or switch majors. Otherwise, just get used to being the eternal number two.]
[I’m curious, you all say Professor Lowell’s classes are hard, so why are you so excited for them?]
[Yeah, you guys are making me want to audit the class, just to see if it’s really that difficult.]
There were also some freshmen who had yet to be devastated by Yvonne Lowell. They weren’t questioning her abilities but were skeptical about the upperclassmen’s claims of her courses’ difficulty, feeling it was all a bit exaggerated.
’Don’t all lectures follow the same process? You just follow the textbook, maybe expand on it a little. How hard can it be?’
To this, the upperclassmen offered no comment.
Ah, these people were still so young. They had never experienced a beatdown from Professor Lowell.
But that was fine. The school’s official website had already announced that Professor Lowell would be back today and would be holding a masterclass in the afternoon. The economics freshmen were in for a real treat~
...
After touring the campus, they went back to meet up with Yancy Lowell, who had finished his interview.
When they reached the academic building, Professor Spencer was standing next to Yancy Lowell, and the atmosphere between them was incredibly congenial.
A glint flashed in Yvonne Lowell’s eyes. ’Looks like their rapport is developing quickly.’
"Lowell, thank you so much! You’ve really found me a great prospect! Yancy is excellent!"
As he spoke, Spencer gave a thumbs-up. "You’re going to be my second-favorite student now. From now on, Yancy is number one!"
Yancy Lowell stood by without speaking, but the corners of his mouth were stretched to his ears, and he was starting to blush.
Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "Then am I still your favorite colleague?"
"Hahaha, of course, you always are! Which is why you must reply to me faster when I message you to discuss things!"
Yvonne Lowell couldn’t stop her lips from twitching. ’Did I just... dig a hole and bury myself in it?’
But she still said with a cheerful smile, "Of course. It’s just that we have a time difference. I always reply the moment I see your messages."
"Hey! I knew I’d find you here! Let’s go to lunch together! I brought Old El along!"
Principal Patrick walked over from a distance, an old, white-bearded man by his side.
Yvonne Lowell wrinkled her nose in indignation. ’Hmph, who else could it be but the old man who’s always trying to steal my liquor and who tricked me into staying to teach for a whole semester?!’
"Long time no see, Lowell. I was in a meeting just now and couldn’t come to greet you," Professor El said with a wide smile.
"As long as you don’t trick me into teaching, I’ll be thankful enough."
"Hahahaha, you really hold a grudge!" Professor El said, pointing a finger at her playfully.
"Have you forgotten the days we spent drinking in the office together? We’re good friends!"
’Crap! My life is over!’ Yvonne panicked. ’This old man isn’t getting any white liquor from me this year!!!’
"We should get going to the dining hall, my good friend! Let’s go, I miss our cafeteria’s food so much!"
Yvonne Lowell walked over to Professor El’s side, using Leo Grant’s body to block the line of sight from the Lowells.
She looked at the sky, the ground, and Professor El—anywhere but at her parents and brothers.
Her father and brother had found out she’d skipped class, and now her parents and both brothers knew she drank at work.
Although Ms. Sutton maintained a gentle smile, the look in her eyes clearly said: ’I’ll deal with you when we get back!’
After four years, the boomerang she had thrown had finally come back to hit her.
If she had known it would be like this, she wouldn’t have agreed to teach a masterclass in exchange for getting them visitor passes to the campus.
She really wanted to flip a table.
