"Bonnie, you seem to be treating William Lynch a little differently."

Yvonne Lowell shot him a sidelong glance, her eyes holding a hint of appreciation.

"Not bad, Comrade Grant. Your awareness has improved quite a bit."

Leo Grant couldn’t help but twitch his lips. ’He wasn’t stupid or blind. She had such a huge reaction when she saw William Lynch—the nail marks on his arm probably hadn’t even faded yet. How could he not have noticed?! Besides, she was being so attentive to William Lynch. Even I don’t know she has a way to raise a superpower’s level, or what other businesses she owns. And now she’s using all that to poach William Lynch. How could I possibly not see it?! If she were really just after William Lynch for his abilities, she might as well be after mine! I’m an all-rounder, for crying out loud. How am I not better than that sorry specimen, William Lynch, in every way?!’

William Lynch: ...*So noble of you. So impressive. Your ability to praise yourself by putting others down will always be number one.*

Yvonne Lowell knew what he was thinking just by looking at his expression and rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Don’t be jealous. I just think he looks a lot like two of my elders. Do you remember where you first met him?"

Yvonne Lowell added silently in her heart: ’Of course, it’s also true that I want to poach him. He’s a Bloodline Superpower User!!’

Seen through by his own girlfriend, Leo Grant rubbed his nose, a little embarrassed.

"Ten years ago, in an abandoned orphanage in the suburbs of a city on Continent R."

Yvonne Lowell’s steps faltered. "An orphanage? Then how old is he this year?"

"Twenty-two."

"I’ve looked into it. He was abandoned at the orphanage’s gate just a few days after he was born."

"When he was ten, the orphanage went out of business due to poor management. The other children were gradually sent away or transferred to other orphanages."

"He was the only one who refused to leave. He lived there by himself, surviving by scavenging."

"Two years later, he met me."

Yvonne Lowell’s expression turned subtle. ’If William Lynch is really related to those two by blood, life will probably get a lot easier for my handsome man in the future. Just based on the fact that he took William Lynch in for ten years, not only feeding him but also teaching him so many skills, they wouldn’t treat him with such open hostility, unlike the elders of the Lowell and Sutton Families. Besides, being able to establish a connection with Apeiron would be nothing but beneficial for his businesses.’

She raised a hand and patted his shoulder. "If they’re really related, William Lynch will be your benefactor from now on."

Leo Grant raised an eyebrow. "How so?"

’Besides this sweet little pain of his, who else could possibly be his benefactor? Are William Lynch’s family members some big shots or something?’

"If it’s true, you’ll have at least two fewer major roadblocks on your path to wooing your wife. So tell me, isn’t he a benefactor?"

Yvonne Lowell mimicked him, raising an eyebrow and even gesturing in the air to show the size of the stones.

A flash of astonishment crossed Leo Grant’s eyes. ’He absolutely would be... If that’s really the case, forget benefactor, William Lynch would deserve to be enshrined in the Imperial Ancestral Temple! From now on, I won’t worship Buddha; I’ll worship William Lynch! I’d have no problem burning incense and chanting sutras for him every day!’

William Lynch: *I’m a valuable guy, alright! But those last few lines are a bit much! Otherwise, I’d think you don’t want to worship me, but want to send me to the afterlife!*

"What do you need? His hair, fingernails, or blood? I’ll go get it for you right now! Or do you need some information? Like news from before he was born? I’ll have someone look into it immediately!"

As he spoke, he put an arm around Yvonne Lowell and started to turn back.

Yvonne Lowell grabbed him and rolled her eyes in exasperation. "What happened to your cool and collected demeanor? I don’t need any of that. I just need to make a phone call."

Leo Grant obediently stopped and stared at her without blinking.

The meaning in his eyes was obvious. ’Hurry up and call. Just call already.’

Yvonne Lowell sighed. ’I shouldn’t have said anything.’

"My dear brother, it’s the middle of the night over there right now. I’ll call this afternoon. Besides, have you forgotten? You said you were going to show me around."

Leo Grant gave an awkward laugh. "I was just excited, wasn’t I? Let’s go, we’ll keep looking around."

After a few steps, Leo Grant spoke again. "Bonnie, call me that again, would you? Just like you did a moment ago."

It was the first time Yvonne Lowell realized a person could be this speechless.

She took a deep breath and said menacingly, "President Grant, if you keep blabbering, believe it or not, I’ll make sure that after you’ve cleared away all the roadblocks, there’s no wife waiting for you at the end of your path."

"I’ll stop talking, I’ll stop talking. My lips are sealed." Leo Grant obediently zipped his lips.

The two of them looped around The Shadow Pavilion HQ and got back to the main building just as it was time for lunch.

After lunch, the two humans and one leogryph entered the elevator under Nolan Crawford’s reluctant gaze.

The reason was simple: Nolan Crawford wanted to keep the Leogryph downstairs to play with, but the Leogryph couldn’t stand him.

Nolan Crawford settled for second best and tried to follow the Leogryph upstairs to play, but this time it was Leo Grant’s turn to not stand him.

’Isn’t this just the human-beast version of "I love you, you love her, she loves him, and he doesn’t love me"?’

’Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a tangled web they weave.’

After going upstairs, Yvonne Lowell calculated the time and figured it was already daytime over there, so she sent a front-facing photo of William Lynch to Auntie Dahlia.

She had just thought it over carefully and decided it was better not to call her directly.

Auntie Dahlia and Uncle Stark didn’t have any biological children, and in all these years, she had never heard them mention the topic of kids.

But when she used to sneak up the back mountain, she had noticed a small, unmarked grave mound off to the east.

Connecting that to the fact that Auntie Dahlia and Uncle Stark went up the back mountain on a specific day each year, staying for the entire day, and that even Uncle Stark’s eyes would be red when they came down, she naturally guessed that their child might be in that small grave.

So, if she just called them up and opened with, "I think I saw your son," how tactless would that be...

If it weren’t for the fact that William Lynch looked like he was cast from the same mold as Auntie Dahlia, she wouldn’t have been willing to reopen Auntie Dahlia’s old wounds.

Not long after she sent the photo, a call came in from Auntie Dahlia.

Yvonne Lowell had just swiped to answer when Auntie Dahlia’s slightly trembling voice came from the other end.

"Yvonne, the photo you sent me is..."

Yvonne Lowell’s hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously. In her eyes, Auntie Dahlia had always been a heroic and decisive figure.

Yvonne Lowell had never heard her sound so helpless, which just went to show how important that child was to the couple.

She could only say softly, "Auntie Dahlia, this is my boyfriend’s trusted subordinate. He’s twenty-two years old and was abandoned at an orphanage gate just a few days after he was born."

The sound of something heavy falling to the ground came through the phone, followed by Auntie Dahlia’s urgent voice. "This is my Kai! My Kai wasn’t stillborn, he’s alive! What orphanage did he live in before?"

Yvonne Lowell sighed. "Please, don’t get too excited. He said it was on Continent R."

Auntie Dahlia was silent for a moment, her voice choked with emotion. "Yvonne, can you let me meet that boy?"
