The Heiress They Lost Came Back Overpowered
Chapter 180 - 179: Pranking Everyone Equally
"You two continue." Yvonne Lowell patted the Leogryph’s head. "Come on, let’s go back."
Watching the woman and the lion depart, Ian Lynch gulped. "Colin was right. Around here, the Leogryph plays pranks on everyone—except Miss Lowell!!!"
"Didn’t Miss Lowell just say it?" Warren Lynch looked at him in disagreement. "The Leogryph was just being nice and pacing us. It’s only a lion. How could it play pranks?"
Ian Lynch rolled his eyes at him and took off running.
’What a moron. If I thought I could win, I’d have already socked him a couple of times!’
...
Yvonne Lowell returned to the main house and happened to run into Nolan Crawford, who was coming downstairs.
Seeing her come in from outside, Nolan Crawford asked, "Yvonne, were you just out for a run? Where’s my brother?"
"At this hour? He’s probably still in his room," Yvonne Lowell said with a shrug, heading toward the dining room.
"Huh?! Oh..."
’So cold. It seems my brother not only failed to sneak into her bed last night, but he also managed to piss her off, which explains why he ended up meekly sleeping in the guest room.’
’His idol was his top priority, so he was thrilled that his brother wasn’t getting anywhere with her.’
At this thought, Nolan Crawford couldn’t help but stand right where he was and laugh out loud.
Just then, the elevator doors slowly opened, and Leo Grant stepped out.
His eyes flashed with exasperation as he saw the fool laughing his head off at the stair landing. "What are you doing just standing there?"
"Bro, morning! I was waiting for you. Come on, let’s go get breakfast. Yvonne is already there."
Nolan Crawford reached out a mischievous hand to grab him, but Leo dodged it.
Watching Leo’s "furious, dejected, and utterly unsatisfied" back (as Nolan Crawford imagined it), Nolan grinned slyly and followed him to the dining room.
As he passed the Leogryph, who was waiting to be fed, he even offered a very polite greeting. "Morning, Leogryph. Are you going to let your Uncle Nolan pet you today?"
"ROAR!" ’Piss off! Like a toad trying to swallow the moon—dream on!’
The Leogryph immediately turned its back, refusing to even spare him a glance.
Nolan Crawford gave an awkward chuckle. "Alright, fine. I’ll ask you again tomorrow, then."
Leo Grant walked over and sat down beside Yvonne Lowell. "I knocked on your door, but there was no answer. I figured you’d gone for a morning run."
"You must have gone to bed late last night. Why are you up so early?" Yvonne Lowell teased, pushing a bowl of porridge toward him.
Looking a little resigned, Leo Grant gently rapped her on the forehead with his knuckles. "Just eat your breakfast."
Yvonne Lowell pouted. "Fine, don’t tell me. Spoilsport."
"I have to go out and meet a business partner in a bit. Want to come with me?"
Yvonne Lowell shook her head. "I’ll pass. I’m going to look for Luna in a little while."
Leo Grant frowned slightly, a little concerned. "That wolf, Blondie, is still around. Why don’t you wait until I get back? I’ll go with you."
"No need. I’ll just have Luna come down. Besides, with so many people around, he can’t hurt me," Yvonne Lowell said, waving her hand dismissively.
"Just be careful, then."
"I know, you old mother hen." Yvonne Lowell picked up a pastry and stuffed it straight into his mouth.
Leo Grant froze for a second, then a hint of a resigned smile touched his eyes.
Nolan Crawford walked in just in time to see this lovey-dovey scene, and goosebumps immediately broke out all over his skin.
’What’s going on?! How are these two still acting so sweet to each other?! They didn’t even have a fight?!’
And what he was thinking, he said out loud.
He was immediately met with a death glare from his brother.
Yvonne Lowell raised an eyebrow. "What? Do you want us to fight?"
"Of course not! It was just a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding..." Nolan Crawford said with an awkward laugh.
"The mines over on Continent F are short a supervisor," Leo said. "I don’t think you need to bother going to The Shadow Pavilion. You can fly straight to Continent F later today."
Nolan Crawford immediately started begging for mercy. "No, Bro, I’m sorry! You know me, I’ve got a big mouth! I never say the right thing."
Leo Grant didn’t even look up, simply continuing to feed Yvonne Lowell.
"Brother~ Brother Grant~ Brother Grant~" Nolan Crawford whined, putting on a wheedling tone. "I really know I was wrong! My skin is so soft and delicate, how could I possibly go to Continent F? Brother~"
CRACK. CRACK. CRACK.
Nolan Crawford looked toward the source of the sound, only to see Yvonne Lowell watching him with a "benevolent" smile as she cracked her knuckles.
"Shut up. Eat. Got it?"
"Yes, yes, yes! I’ll eat!" Nolan Crawford nodded frantically, manually zipping his lips.
Yvonne Lowell gave Leo Grant a smug look and raised her eyebrows. ’See that? You should take notes.’
Leo Grant watched her with eyes full of adoration and silently gave her a thumbs-up.
...
Leo Grant left after finishing breakfast. Yvonne Lowell took the Leogryph to The Menagerie by herself. It was the "dormitory" for her "children," and even though most of them lived in the main house, it was a necessary feature.
Yvonne Lowell: ’It’s just an ideal. What’s wrong with it being a little grand?’
Standing at the back gate of The Menagerie, she patted the Leogryph’s head. "Go on, call your little sister and your brother-in-law down. We need to make things official for those two."
"ROAR!" ’No problem! Be right there!’
The Leogryph charged out, its roar sending the birds and beasts on the back mountain scattering in terror.
Yvonne Lowell crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe, her fingertips tapping an irregular rhythm on her bicep.
Before long, she saw a few figures running toward her in the distance—one yellow, one white, and one that was a mix of gray and white.
Luna ran to her side and affectionately nuzzled her leg.
’Yep, she’s really pregnant.’
"So you finally decided to come home, huh?"
"AWOO!" ’I know, I know!’
Luna kept nudging against her leg, clearly trying to curry favor.
"ROAR!" ’What a suck-up!’
The Leogryph shot the pair a sidelong glance, then turned its head away. Out of sight, out of mind.
Yvonne Lowell lifted her gaze to Blondie, who stood a few meters away, and raised an eyebrow. "A wild wolf this chubby? Are you sure you’re not a husky?"
Although Blondie couldn’t understand her words, his instincts told him this human was saying something very unflattering.
"AWOO~" ’Shut up!’
"AWOO!" ’You shut up! Who do you think you are, talking to my mom like that?!’
Luna charged forward and swiped a paw at him.
"Pfft." Yvonne Lowell couldn’t help but chuckle. ’This silly girl is so head-over-heels. Is this her roundabout way of standing up for her man?’
’Still, this "husky" shows no aggression toward people, which means humans aren’t on his menu. He shouldn’t be too hard to tame.’
"Luna is like a daughter to me. You already know she comes down from the mountain for food. If you want to be with her, you have to follow the rules here: you are not to harm people, and you are definitely not to eat people. Luna, translate for your husband."
Yvonne Lowell looked at the "husky" across from her, making no effort to conceal her intimidating and bloodthirsty aura.
The husky didn’t understand why the human before him had suddenly become so terrifying, filling him with an urge to prostrate himself.
"AWOO, AWOO, AWOO!"
Luna yipped and growled in his ear for a long while, even giving him a swat with her paw when she got to an emphatic point.
Yvonne Lowell and the Leogryph watched leisurely as Luna "tamed" her husband. It was, they had to admit, rather amusing.
When Luna was done with her "persuasion," Blondie slowly walked toward Yvonne Lowell and stopped a short distance away.
He bent his front legs and prostrated himself on the ground.
"Awoo~" ’Mom~’
