The Heiress Acts Mischievously, But Her Family Can Read Her Mind

Chapter 320: 320: Positioning

Chapter 320: Chapter 320: Positioning

Until the noise outside had disappeared, Su Ran had collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.

Her tense emotions relaxed after about half an hour.

Suddenly, a muffled thunder sounded outside, silver lightning tore through the sky, and heavy rain fell with immense force.

Su Ran was startled, the floor-to-ceiling windows of the hotel room reflected her panicked expression. She stood up quickly, hurriedly drew the curtains, and like burying her head in the sand, she crawled back into bed and pulled the covers tightly around her as if it could clear her of the foul deed she had committed.

As she shivered under the covers, she suddenly heard a knocking at the door. Su Ran was so frightened her hair stood on end. She threw off the covers, and although the light above her head was on, the thunder outside still made her feel a chill.

The knocking outside continued.

Then, it was followed by even more forceful kicking.

Su Ran asked, trembling, “Who is it?”

“It’s me! Open the door.”

Hearing Yuan Feng’s voice, Su Ran froze.

Shouldn’t Yuan Feng have run away with Jiang Leyi by now? Why was he still appearing at her hotel door?

She got out of bed and ran to open the door without even putting on shoes.

Yuan Feng burst in, grabbed Su Ran by the neck with force, his eyes bloodshot, “Where is Jiang Leyi! You said it was done, where have you hidden her? Where is she?”

Su Ran was so shocked by his words that she ignored the strength of his grip on her neck: “What are you talking about? Wasn’t Jiang Leyi taken away by your men… with a large suitcase?”

“It wasn’t me!” Yuan Feng shouted furiously.

He flung Su Ran aside and then grasped her shoulders with both hands, demanded urgently, “Who took Jiang Leyi away? Who!”

Su Ran had no idea that there were others interested in Jiang Leyi and suddenly panicked: “What should we do… I thought it was your men who took her away, a group of delivery riders in uniforms, dragging a large suitcase, they took Jiang Leyi away… What if she dies?”

Being in Yuan Feng’s hands as a blood supply machine held no fatal danger, but if someone else had taken her, the fate waiting for Jiang Leyi would be different.

“Which direction did they go?”

Su Ran shook her head blankly, “I don’t know…”

“How long ago did they leave?”

“Half an hour…”

“They haven’t left Port City yet.” Yuan Feng made a swift decision: “I’ll go after her now, maybe I can still bring her back.”

He looked coldly at Su Ran, “If I can’t find Jiang Leyi, you know what your fate will be!”

It would just mean making her this blood supply machine.

Su Ran clenched her fists tightly.

If that day really came, then she would go to Zhou Yanbai.

She didn’t like asking him for help because every time she asked, she always had to pay some price.

Just like with this Yuan Feng matter, she didn’t want to ask Zhou Yanbai to resolve it for her, nor did she want to take risks, in case Yuan Feng, threatened, might let slip and cause everything to collapse.

Su Ran watched Yuan Feng’s figure disappear, then weakly closed the door, the tightness of the night causing her stomach to start cramping again.

She went to pour some warm water and took several pills. It took a few minutes before she felt better.

Forget it.

Whatever deeds Su Ran had done, she would no longer regret them; she even hoped that Jiang Leyi would just disappear, as if she came back and exposed the things she had done, that might be enough for her to suffer severely, perhaps even face criminal charges, then she would be completely cut off from the entertainment industry.

She crawled back into bed and forced herself to sleep.

When she awoke, everything would be better.

Outside, the rain poured heavily, and the wind howled furiously.

This was Jiang Nanshu’s first heavy rain since arriving in Port City, and she stood at the revolving door of the hotel lobby as the wind blew the rain in, soaking half of her camouflage raincoat.

She bit a lollipop in her mouth.

It shattered into pieces as soon as she bit down.

Eventually, she spat the plastic stick into the trashcan next to her.

“I think this heroine has really reached her limit,” Jiang Nanshu said sarcastically, staring at the dense night sky.

Da Shachun chose to remain silent.

Because Su Ran’s actions had already strayed far from the kind-hearted heroine described in the book.

If it weren’t for the original character configuration in the book being that of a progressive, kind-hearted, and aspirational heroine, it would have suspected that the heroine had been cursed.

Da Shachun: [Host, what should we do now? Logically, Jiang Leyi’s fate shouldn’t have involved being kidnapped in the mountains and murdered. That’s too inhumane!]

Its tone could barely conceal its anger.

To it, this was a premeditated murder case, even more terrifying than a roaming blood bank.

[Fortunately, you saw through their schemes. Do you want to go save her?] Da Shachun asked.

Jiang Nanshu, with the candy still in her mouth, squinted at the sky flashing with lightning, the smile not reaching her eyes, “No, I want to watch the drama unfold. Experiencing some hardships will teach her how unpredictable people can be. If she continues to maintain such naive and kind-heartedness in her circle, she will suffer sooner or later. It might not be now, but it will happen eventually. I can’t always be by her side to shield her from disasters and difficulties.”

Jiang Nanshu was crass but logical.

Da Shachun would not interfere with Jiang Nanshu’s choices: [Alright, let’s go watch then. It’s been quite some time—how will you find them? It’s also raining so heavily, it might be difficult.]

“Not in a hurry.”

The next second, Jiang Nanshu’s phone rang, and she answered. It was Zhou Zhenghui’s voice, “Nanshu, the SUV has been delivered to you, but… it’s so late now, and still raining heavily, why do you need the car?”

He sounded puzzled.

Jiang Nanshu responded sweetly, “I like to speed in the rain because the roads are empty.”

Zhou Zhenghui: “…”

What an odd quirk.

He didn’t understand, but respected it.

Zhou Zhenghui didn’t say much else, his tone barely hiding his excitement, “The DNA test results are in, Yiyi is…”

“Mr. Zhou, you should tell my sister about this in person.”

Zhou Zhenghui caught on, “Alright, alright… be careful, and let me know if you need some people to come along with you. It’s too dangerous with the heavy rain.”

“No need.”

She hung up the phone.

A blinding beam of light approached from a distance and stopped at the hotel entrance.

A black-clad bodyguard came down holding an umbrella.

“Miss Jiang, your car has arrived.”

Jiang Nanshu donned her raincoat hood, settled into the driver’s seat, and waved at the bodyguard, “Thanks.”

The bodyguard watched the SUV drive away into the rainy night, umbrella in hand, looking somewhat disheveled by the wind.

Damn it, with such heavy rain, how am I supposed to get back?

Jiang Nanshu placed her phone on the car mount, which displayed a red pinpoint on the map. Within half an hour, this red point had moved twenty kilometers away.

Da Shachun: [Fuck, Host, you’re so smart, you actually put a tracker on Jiang Leyi. Can you predict the future?]

Jiang Nanshu smirked lightly, “Not really, it’s just that the environment I used to live in made me suspicious of anyone who suddenly tried to get close to me. These people either want to profit from me or want my life. Over time, I developed a sense of vigilance.” Jiang Nanshu drove the car, following the directions on her phone. She was driving fast and the rain was heavy, so she was on edge, afraid someone might run out from the side of the road, causing an accident.
