The Guardians' Throne - The First Magic Swordsman

Chapter 194 - Thunder Blade

The sound of metal clashing was approaching at a fast pace. Zaos, Drannor, and Ameria were right behind the door, just waiting for the right opportunity to attack. Although Zaos was completely in battle mode and couldn't care less about the danger, he would be the one to give them the signal to attack since he could see the positions of everyone behind the door.

Once the first group of enemies got close enough to the door, Zaos held his sword tightly then enhanced the blade with magic. Ameria recognized the wind magic there, but in the blink of an eye, the amount of mana increased until the wind became a thick layer of electricity.

"Get down," Drannor said.

Zaos swung his sword, and then he fired the wave of electricity in an arc in front of him. The door was destroyed, and the enemies in front were cut in half by the sword alone. Meanwhile, the wave of energy hit the other nearby enemies and shocked them for several seconds. Zaos dashed at them and split them in half without hesitation. He didn't stop, not even when blood fell over him like rain.

It was the first time since he returned from the North that Zaos had fought seriously, and even though it has been a while, Drannor couldn't help but think that Zaos was even wilder than before. As for Ameria, she couldn't help but flinch while looking at someone splitting other human beings like that without a hint of hesitation.

For some weird reason, the mercenaries were all over the place and wearing dark clothes all over, and the only part of their bodies that could be seen was their eyes. They probably used those clothes to hide around the mansions in the area while they moved throughout the night. The vegetation sure helped them with that. Regardless, they had some weird curved-looking double-edged swords, and since the weapons were short, they were using them in both hands.

The second group of mercenaries approached Zaos since they didn't see how he dealt with them, but at least they could tell that he wasn't an ordinary kid. They tried to surround him, but Zaos enchanted his weapon again and swung his sword to shock the enemies in an ever wider arc.

"Jump backward!" Drannor shouted.

America reacted on time, and then she saw the place she had been a moment ago being strike by a small lightning bolt that came from Zaos's sword. He had heard of a spell that could summon lightning bolts. Still, she never saw someone using, and according to the rumors, the last person that used something similar and survived to tell the tale lived more than fifty years ago.

"Focus on dodging the bolts of lightning," Drannor said. "If they hit us in a bad place…"

Drannor pointed toward two corpses around Zaos. Those got hit in the head, and smoking was coming from there. At the same time, their faces were completely burned.

The next group of mercenaries realized that they couldn't approach Zaos carelessly, so they decided to use their swords as projectiles and threw them toward him. However, Zaos put his large sword in front of him and blocked them. Some of them tried to hit Ameria, and not a single one of them tried to hit Drannor… they had recognized her. Still, the spear-wielding young man spun around his spear and deflected the swords.

"Attack them, Ameria," Drannor said. "Just don't think too much about it, okay?"

Ameria decided to help without a hint of hesitation. Still, now she finally realized that her skills would be used to take lives. However, she quickly strengthened her resolve when suddenly the dark assassins pulled some rapid-fire crossbows and fired at Zaos from all directions.

"Zaos!" Ameria shouted and began to hit the enemies' heads with her Wind Sword.

One after the other, the assassins began to fall, but Zaos got hit by the bolts anyway. Despite that, he kept moving toward them like nothing had happened. America showed a look of surprise, and Drannor pointed at the bolts that were falling around Zaos. They were piercing Zaos's clothes and scratching his skin, but not all that much.

"That probably still hurts like a bitch, but he is using earth magic to protect himself," Drannor said.

Thanks to Ameria's help, soon Zaos wasn't surrounded anymore, and he dashed toward the enemies and swung his giant sword. The dark assassins tried to counterattack by blocking his attack, but in the end, their swords and their bodies were split in half.

In just a couple of minutes, they killed forty assassins, and Zaos could see twenty others… it was an awfully small number considering that the Ojala family had at least fifty guards just around the mansion to protect the place, but then Zaos realized… on the way to the port, there were other mansions and other guards… the assassins probably split themselves to deal with the enemies in those locations in order not to worry about a back attack. Not to mention, by doing that, they wouldn't have to worry about the information about the assassinations spreading toward the port. The remaining assassins decided to run away, but Zaos still killed half of them by firing multiple Wind Swords at the same time.

"Check the back of the mansion, some of them might have imagined that the people might try to use that area to escape if they resisted the drug," Zaos said. "I am going to check the other building."

"Bring the maids and the other servants, Zaos, please," Ameria said.

Zaos nodded without looking back. That was within his plans anyway since he wouldn't be able to fight if the assassins returned and he had to carry his things. As it turns out, thanks to his quick alert, Erean left the building fast enough to help the guards of the Ojala family. Still, by doing so, he left Ameria's maids and the servants of the family behind. They were alive and well, but pretty scared since they saw the fighting and what Zaos did. Not to mention, he was covered in blood.
