Chapter 348: Chapter 296: Demon Fiend Title, Kongchen Demon City (Part 3)
Clearly, they too were afraid of running into someone they couldn’t handle.
If their goal was merely to obstruct, they would have a good chance of survival even if they encountered a powerful demon.
After all, the Great Realm was filled with countless Tribulation Cultivators, and most powerful demons couldn’t be bothered to slaughter them wave after wave.
Most would simply reveal their aura to scare off the Tribulation Cultivators.
But if these Tribulation Cultivators dared to attack the Spiritual Boat, their lives would be forfeit should they run into a truly powerful demon.
No demon that could survive in the Great Realm was simple.
Xu Chang’an shook his head and put it out of his mind.
Even though this was just the preliminary refining, based on his current rate, he hadn’t even completed one ten-thousandth of the process.
’Keep going! Keep going!’
...
For the next several months, Xu Chang’an focused on refining the Primordial Thunder Armor within the quiet, partitioned room.
Both he and Chu Xianyi had long been capable of Fasting.
So, a seclusion of this length was no problem at all.
Xu Chang’an threw himself wholeheartedly into refining the Top-Grade Spiritual Treasure.
However, they would encounter a group of Tribulation Cultivators every so often—sometimes every three to five days, other times not for over half a month.
The weaker of these Tribulation Cultivators were merely at Early-stage Divinity Transformation, while the stronger ones had cultivation reaching as high as Late-stage Void Refining.
But so far, they had yet to encounter any Tribulation Cultivating Demon Race members who had entered the Unity Realm.
Each time, Chu Xianyi would release her overwhelmingly powerful cultivation aura and scare them away.
Fortunately, they had never run into anyone from the Harmonization Demon Race, so every encounter went smoothly.
Xu Chang’an was now experiencing firsthand just how incredibly dangerous the Great Realm was.
If Chu Xianyi hadn’t possessed the Phantom Spirit Illusion Pearl, it was doubtful they could have reached Kongchen Demon City unscathed, even with their combined strength.
「One year later.」
Kunpeng Land, Shuofang Province, Kongchen Demon City.
An ancient, immeasurably vast city appeared before Xu Chang’an, sprawling across the horizon like a slumbering primeval beast.
Towering walls, built from massive, jet-black stones, were etched with incredibly mysterious Secret Patterns that pulsed with a faint, flowing light.
All kinds of Spiritual Boats, shimmering with gorgeous light, flew past the city from time to time.
Some Spiritual Boats would hover in mid-air as a large crowd of demons disembarked, descending in glittering streams of light.
The sky was a dense tapestry of flashing, streaking lights.
’Kongchen Demon City!’
Xu Chang’an, in the guise of a young child dressed in cyan robes, stared at the immense, majestic city before him.
Xu Chang’an had never seen such a colossal city. He hadn’t just never seen one—he’d never even heard of one.
Standing before it, he felt as insignificant as an ant.
The gate was as massive as a mountain. He could have entered with ease even in his true form.
’So this is a city in the Great Realm! It’s as vast as the Cangyu Mountain Range!’
Xu Chang’an turned to look at Chu Xianyi by his side.
Chu Xianyi wore an iridescent, floor-length gown, her expression cool and distant, making it impossible to guess her thoughts.
"Let’s go."
With that, Xu Chang’an flew toward the city gate.
Chu Xianyi glanced at Xu Chang’an, then, in a flash of light, quickly followed.
’So many demons!’
Xu Chang’an marveled as he looked around.
The auras of these demons were all different.
The weakest he could sense were already at Late-stage Divinity Transformation.
Clearly, no demon who made it to Kongchen Demon City was weak.
Even those at Late-stage Divinity Transformation had likely only come as part of a larger group from their Sect, Tribe, or family.
Outside Kongchen Demon City, the vast majority of demons were in the Refining Void Realm!
Xu Chang’an also sensed a few demons emitting overwhelmingly powerful auras.
These were demons at Late-stage Void Refining.
An eerie man bathed in a blood-red glow flew past, several miles away.
The man’s skin was blood-red, with prominent cyan veins running across it—a bizarre and unsettling combination.
’A member of the Harmonization Demon Race!’
Xu Chang’an gave the man a long, searching look.
As if sensing the gaze, the eerie man turned and looked in Xu Chang’an’s direction.
A tremor crossed Xu Chang’an’s face. He quickly lowered his head, not daring to look again, though he remained inwardly calm.
’Such sharp senses!’
Xu Chang’an prided himself on his stealth, but he never expected to be noticed with a single glance.
"Demon Emperor, you shouldn’t stare like that! You might bring disaster upon yourself!"
Chu Xianyi remarked coolly, hovering in the air beside Xu Chang’an.
"What disaster could possibly compare to the nation-toppling beauty of the Peacock King?"
Xu Chang’an replied nonchalantly.
He was referring to the incident that had occurred earlier on the Spiritual Boat.
Ling Yao of the Kunpeng Demon Army had confessed his feelings to Chu Xianyi, hoping she would become his thirteenth concubine.
Clearly, Xu Chang’an was taking a jab at Chu Xianyi’s talent for attracting trouble.
Luckily, Ling Yao had a good temperament. Otherwise, the situation could have ended in disaster!
Chu Xianyi shot Xu Chang’an a sidelong glance.
"If I do attract a calamity, I’m sure my Dao Companion will step forward to handle it! Isn’t that right, Demon Emperor? Your divine might is unparalleled. A mere member of the Harmonization Demon Race is someone you could crush with one hand!"
"The Peacock King has such good judgment!"
Xu Chang’an accepted Chu Xianyi’s "praise" with a grin, acting as if he hadn’t heard the mockery dripping from her words.
’Once I devour the Artifact Spirits of those two Spiritual Treasures and advance my cultivation with the help of numerous Top-Grade Spiritual Treasures...’
’...I might actually be able to crush a member of the Harmonization Demon Race with a single hand!’
Demons stood guard outside Kongchen Demon City.
The glow of an Array flashed, shining down on each batch of demons, recording their information and performing a preliminary inspection.
Batch after batch of demons went through, and soon it was Xu Chang’an and Chu Xianyi’s turn.
The halo of light flickered, and the information of the two demons was recorded by the Demon City’s great Array.
Should anyone cause trouble within the Demon City, the City Defense Array would descend with punishing lightning.
Even if a demon with tyrannical cultivation managed to escape, the recorded information could be used to issue a warrant and track them down.
Of course, Kongchen Demon City had stood in the Great Realm for countless ages; the might of its great Array was far beyond anything they could imagine.
Entering the Demon City required an entry fee of one Spirit Crystal.
Xu Chang’an happened to have one Spirit Crystal.
He had obtained it from the body of the hunched old man—the Great Cultivator of Divinity Transformation from Canglan Hall—after killing him.
He remembered marveling at his sudden windfall at the time, as it was worth a full one hundred million Spirit Stones.
Who would have thought that here in the Great Realm, it was merely the fee to enter a single city.
