Chapter 2764 Two Versus Three

The black barrier in front of the three black?robed figures was struck by Ling Feng’s Chaos Sword Phantom and instantly shattered into countless black fragments that fell downward, then dispersed into heaven and earth as they fell.

Seeing those black fragments dissipate between heaven and earth, Ling Feng shook his head with a smile and said, "What’s this? How come your turtle shell breaks so easily? I thought it could at least hold on for a bit longer."

"If it’s really this fragile, then you guys are way too useless. I’m honestly speechless. I thought your Clan of Darkness was some big deal, but turns out you’re just like this!"

Ling Feng shook his head and sighed, then his tone suddenly turned vicious; the smile on his face had completely vanished. While those black?robed men still hadn’t found their footing, he raised the Chaos Sword and slashed out again, a massive Sword Qi sweeping across the entire sky.

Just a single Sword scattered the positions of all those black?robed men, and that black Array was instantly shattered by the enormous Chaos Sword Sword Qi. Large amounts of Black Energy then leaked out. The power of the Chaos Sword and the resulting abnormal changes caught the three black?robed members of the Clan of Darkness off guard.

The black?robed man in the lead was named An Jiao, one of the leaders of this infiltration and undercover operation in the Water Wave World. The oldest one beside him, with an unusually aged voice, was called An He, a veteran who had infiltrated the Water Wave World multiple times.

The youngest one at the back was a member of the younger generation of the Clan of Darkness named An Luo, a standout among his clan. He’d long heard that the clan was going to carry out an infiltration and invasion of the Water Wave World, and despite some good friends in the clan trying to stop him, he volunteered to come to the Water Wave World.

Before coming for this infiltration mission, An Luo had already heard about how dangerous the Water Wave World was. Although the Shui Clan had vaguely been suppressed by the Clan of Darkness over the years, their powerful foundation was nothing to scoff at. An Luo had long been full of anticipation toward this world.

But he was a rookie participating in such an infiltration operation for the first time, so whatever happened he couldn’t handle it himself; he had to report to An He and An Jiao first. This made An Luo, who’d always thrown his weight around among the younger generation, extremely unaccustomed.

Still, An Jiao and An He’s strength and seniority were far above An Luo’s, so whenever something came up, all An Luo could do was listen to these two and act accordingly. Only when An Luo moved alone could he make his own decisions—but unfortunately, that kind of chance simply didn’t exist.

There was only one other situation where An Luo could fully direct his own actions: if An Jiao and An He both sacrificed themselves for the mission. At that point, with no guidance from higher?ups, he’d be forced to act on his own. That would be the only scenario where An Luo’s behavior would truly be free of constraints.

But all along the way, An Luo had basically never seen these two seniors make any mistakes. No matter what they did they were shockingly calm, like they’d done it countless times before. And they didn’t treat him the way An Luo had imagined—by letting him handle lots of tasks.

Instead, they personally took care of everything, which made An Luo feel looked down on. In his mind, he, a "prodigy" of the Clan of Darkness, was being treated like useless trash by these two. So he kept trying to prove himself, hoping to take part in every single action.

But in reality, opportunities like that were extremely rare. On almost every mission, An Luo had no chance to get involved at all. Whenever he wanted to make a move, he would be directly rejected by the two seniors, An Jiao and An He. Whenever he tried to jump the gun to prove his worth, he would end up watching as the seniors smoothly wrapped up the task ahead of him.

And this time, when An Luo, in a fit of rage, clashed with Ling Feng and was almost knocked off the Array in midair by a single punch from Jin Gang—only to be saved by senior An He, and then scolded by An He’s gaze...

An Luo faintly realized that he had already lost the trust of seniors An He and An Jiao. Because of his own reckless conflict, senior An He had been forced to step in to protect him, which was something that absolutely shouldn’t have happened.

An Luo had secretly glanced at senior An He’s attitude toward him more than once, and discovered that An He’s expression toward him was extremely stiff. At the same time, An Luo carved a huge amount of guilt and unwillingness into his heart, hoping to use the next action to prove that his abilities were actually not inferior.

Ever since that emotional outburst and the resulting loss of trust, An Luo stopped speaking rashly. Instead, he hid in the back, trying to identify Ling Feng and Song Ruozhao’s weaknesses, and brought out the analytical abilities he’d honed back in the Dark World to provide his own insight for the upcoming counterattack.

An Luo planned to use concrete actions to show An He and An Jiao that the reason he could take part in this mission was absolutely not because of connections, but because he had openly and squarely earned it through his own strength.

Ever since joining this operation, An Luo kept feeling that An He and An Jiao didn’t care at all about his "prodigy" status. They didn’t treat him as a real teammate in this mission, always looking at him with a kind of disdain.

This made the fiercely competitive An Luo extremely uncomfortable inside. He felt that not only were his abilities being belittled, but even he himself—his character and person—were being trampled and regarded with contempt.
